Ok... so I found a great deal on one of these Robotic Vacuums. I got the iRobot Roomba Sage with the convience pack (4110) for $155 shipped.

It is AWESOME! It has everything.
It has this little dock that it pulls up to so that it can charge. Then it has a remote control. You push the cleaning mode you want and it does a little RTD2 beeps then it has a back up alarm. And it goes off to vacuum the house.
It wonders around for 60 mins or 120 mins depending on what mode you put it on. It bounces off things and goes around things, under things... all over the place. When its done it pulls back into its dock to recharge and then plays these different beeps signaling its done.
Comes complete with the charging dock, the vacuum itself, a remote control, and a virtual wall. The virtual wall is a little box that you can put anywhere that will keep the roomba from going past it. So you can say... block off a bedroom or whatever.
I bought it just as a mid week vacuum substitution. Not a replacement for my upright vacuum. Not too mention that its funny and cool as hell to watch it wonder around the house. And that cats are funny to watch around it.
It has a drop off sensor, so it won't go down the stairs. It can go from carpet to tile/linolioem to hardwood, to rugs... anything with less than a 1/4 lip for it for go over. Otherwise it will hit the lip and turn around.
It even is bagless with a exhaust air filter.
