Is it suppose to hit the Tampa area?

06-11-2006, 01:22 PM
Is it suppose to hit the Tampa area? Anywhere between NAples and Apalachicola. Either way, lets hope it stays at a TS instead of forming into a CAT 1, which is very possible.

Yeah I'm just watching it due to my parents having a place down there... they aren't there now but still their place is!

I just left Key West, and let me tell you... the "cone" isn't near KW, but there is plenty of weather from that storm there. We just got out, there was talk of closing the airport.

This crappy storm was supposed to hit right near where I'm at. I really hate living in FL. The only Hurricanes I like are built by Honda.

It's bittersweet.... I hate hurricanes and tropical storms. I don't flip out over them or anything, but they still stress me out. That said, we NEED the rain Alberto brings. We've already had a horrific brushfire season, and this storm will bring much of the state out of drought conditions.

I wouldn't mind getting some of the rain off of the storm. My yard is so dry right now.

ya know, i dont mind the storms so much, then again i stay prepared, what i mind is the silly ppl who freak out and make a nuisance of themselves...i.e. rushing to walmart and buying all the bread and water  i grew up in tornado alley and moved to hurricane central, i am not phased at all, but I dont like evacing, with jlb being military we HAVE to leave (3 cats, 6 dogs, 2 cars, havent figured out how to get the bikes outta here, got to buy a trailer like yesterday...i say bring it on!!! (couple paid days off never hurt nobody!!) yes, maybe i am a lil  , thats okay tho, i only do what the voices in my head tell me!!!

I kind of enjoy the storms. I am not a fan of having to live without ac for a while, but I can deal with it. I can't stand the news, they are the wost! They were talking this morning about being prepared incase Alberto comes here. WTF, it is a few hundred miles away. They love to get people all excited and make them run to the store and buy all of the canned food. I think that walmart gives them $ for doing that, just a thought.

I just dont get these people that dont prepare BEFORE the storm hits and STAY prepared. I've got a huge supply of water, food, batteries and flashlights, as well as lighters cigarettes and other essential sanity keeping devices.

I just dont get these people that dont prepare BEFORE the storm hits and STAY prepared. I've got a huge supply of water, food, batteries and flashlights, as well as lighters cigarettes and other essential sanity keeping devices. Well, for people around here (Jacksonville) it's easy to think "Ah, it won't hit us..." since we haven't gotten a direct hit in well over 30 years. Sure, people say we're "due," but c'mon, you can't really predict these things. So since it's been so long, people forget what it's really like, and think they're immune. And admittedly, we're probably under-prepared ourselves. I won't make any excuses for it... we keep saying "we need to go stock up on our hurricane supplies," and yet we keep not doing it. You can bet your ass, we'll be doing just that this weekend, though!

Well, so far so good..... we got a good steady rain starting around 6:00 last night and continued till about 8 this morning. Wee bit of lightning late last night, and based on how full our pool is now, I'd guesstimate we got about 2" of rainfall. Amazingly, not so much as a downed tree limb or anything in the yard *phew*.

I seen on the news that they downgraded it from a Hurrican back to a TS.
