99birdv6 06-13-2006, 08:33 PM Is it just me or are other sportbike forums not as good and close like this one?
One other forum I belong to it seems that everyone who rides on there are major geeks. I see all of the pics they put up and ask my self if they actually think they look cool. I mean, a group on this other forum, which will remain nameless, put up pics of themselves at Deals Gap. But instead of putting pics of the bikes or rides or things like that, they put up pics of themselves wearing thongs and showing their big bellys hanging over the thongs. I just cant comprehend that. sorry for my rant.
Yeah, I love this forum. The SV forum just seems lame when I try to post over there. I guess it is cause you put so much time into this forum and have become regular, you just don't get the same treatment over at other forums that you are noob in.
I know what forum you speak of. I will send you a pm later giving you more details. I don't really want to discuss it in the open forum.
Knight 06-13-2006, 08:40 PM :withstupi I've been on a bunch of (nameless) forums and I really haven't found anything that I like as much as TWF. This may be a small forum but I think that only adds to the quality. I'm all about quality, not quantity (well with most things...). Good call Bird, :twfrox: :dthumb:

Well, I was trying to keep the other forum nameless, but I guess you knew which one I was talking about.

JK_DILLA 06-13-2006, 10:24 PM good thread 'bird- Yeah i cant help but log on here, and my wife knows when i do because its the only forum with a BIG RED SCREEN! But i like it that way. It IS more personal and there are enough good natured PW's to keep it light. Good job shan and Todd, i dont know how you did it but this is a very good forum. :dthumb:

I have no idea what you're talking about. All of you people suck. Does this bike make me look fast? I wanna put twin turbos on my gixxer and chrome wheels cause that would be ROXOR!!!!! ROFLMAOXGWJEK!
I do think this place a very tight knit family of great people. :twfrox:
Gas Man 06-13-2006, 11:55 PM Ya there is no other forum like TWF. And with any luck, proper moderator work, and dedication from its members it will remain the best place to post.
There is a reason why we have our own smilie!
:twfrox:
No Worries 06-14-2006, 12:49 AM I go to a CBR forum to read and post about technical advice. Some posters are very knowledgeable and some ain't. But I don't get personal and post riding experiences like I do on TWF.
Gas Man 06-14-2006, 12:58 AM TWF is just different. All around different.
Its the personalable and friendly atmosphere that we protect with a iron fist. Its kinda a contridiction in terms, but its the truth.
The best part of that type of forum is that you don't get flamed and you don't get dissed because of what bike you own or ride.
This is my primary forum. I'll post on R6 forums if I have a question, but mostly just to sell stuff. I made a lot posting on a R6 forum so far. There's a lot of how-to's on one forum I like to check out too. I only got 200 and something posts on it.
jeeps84 06-14-2006, 02:42 AM I had become quit a :whore: on a couple other forums. TWF drew me in and excepted me as the :whore: I am. Now I cant even remember the last time I posted somewhere else. Emmm, do those other places still exist? Aaa, who cares? Well, a few do. I still check in for specific info from time to time but its all research. I just don't enjoy spending my time in the other places. Just as itgirl said "TWF is home":twfrox:
marko138 06-14-2006, 06:42 AM :iagree: I used to post on a couple other forums. But this place feels like home. It's a relatively small group...I feel like I know alot of you guys...even though I've only met R1 face to face.
I post on Gixxer forum from time to time when I need specific info. But there's just too many people over there to know anyone.
:twfrox:

99birdv6 06-14-2006, 07:25 AM Well, I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way then. Just like everyone else, I am always on this forum, even thought I dont :whore: as much as other people.

neebelung 06-14-2006, 08:51 AM Admittedly I belong to, and post on several other forums, two of which are large/national types like this. One I've belonged to for about 3 years, and yet barely have twice the posts I have here. The other I've bee on less than two years, and I have 20 TIMES the posts I have here.
Each forum has it's own personality, and tone.... there are some that are very cliquish, and hard to break into, and feel like you're accepted -- admittely, I felt that way here for many months. Others you can dive right in and feel like you've been there forever.
But each forum I'm on (or at least the ones I post on regularly) has something unique about it that makes me come back... whether it's a great local section, or a handful of characters that keep it entertanining, each has something that appeals to me about it.
Either way... :dthumb:

:iagree: with everyone!!! I love this place, before JLB told me about it (after seeing it in TWT mag) i never looked at forums, but i checked it out and this is the ONLY place i ever post, i have a morning routine and i just fit it in every day, and then at lunch, then in mid afternoon, then in evening and then before bed!!! i am addicted!! I have looked at a few others since joining here and they just dont interest me at all, and the people can be soooo negative, this is a pleasant place to talk to people, get info and make friends (weird having friends I have never met face to face, but thats what i consider ya'll), i cant wait to meet ya'll in person one day!!
jeeps84 06-14-2006, 11:38 AM I agree that it takes regular posting to get familiar with any forum. Its like going to parties with the same people all the time. If you join in on the fun, others will get to know you and visa versa. If you sit quietly in the corner, few will even notice you are there.
To the Lurkers, Post up so we can all get to know each other.
(weird having friends I have never met face to face, but thats what i consider ya'll), i cant wait to meet ya'll in person one day!!
It's weird, you can almost go into normal conversation with people from here when you meet them. I had seen Chris (R1) and David (jeeps) before in pics they posted, so appearance wasn't unexpected. I don't think I posted a pic of myself before though, so they might have some input on that.
Hopefully everything goes through with the gathering next year and we can put some more faces with usernames.
I still think you gave most of us the biggest :yikes: when you posted your pics for the contest.
pickle.of.doom 06-14-2006, 12:10 PM I dunno... don't get me wrong, I like this place alot...good people, good threads, good moderating most of the time.... but there is also too much leg-humping and not enough M/C related stuff for me... thats why I have to roam all of them, I'm like a junkie....

I never really felt like this place had a great problem with cliques, I just kinda walked in and started talking to everyone right away. Everyone was really nice and helped me find my way to the SV. Ya'll actually influenced my choice a lot. I was actually one of the noobs looking for a bike that listened and took the advice given to me. Although maybe I am just dense and don't realize I am still on the outside.

But seriously, when you're a newbie here, it does seem to take awhile to gain acceptance. I mean, I'm fine now, but I visited pretty rarely in the beginning because of that.
As for the leghumpin' ??? Ohhhh P.o.D., it's NOTHING here... trust me. Leg-humping is uber-minimal here compared to some forums. :dthumb:

Well when I first got here I was a NOOB to this site and I NEVER ONCE felt like I was looked down upon or anything like that. All my questions were answered with out flaming. No one ever made me feel stupid or like and outsider. Everytime I posted I got feedback. Actually its gotten worse since Ive been around awhile. I almost cried when hardly anyone posted on my "FINALLY GOT MY BIKE" thread. LOL IM just kidding. For real this place just feels like home. I was a member of a few others (I guess I still am) but I never post on them anymore. I guess if I ever come across a question that someone on here can't answer Ill check else where but I haven't had that happen yet. You guys know everything. It is weird how just posting back and forth make you feel like you know people. After being here for a few months I am dying to hang out with people Ive never even met. One of these days I am going to ride with some of you guys. I just feel like I know some peoples personalities from their posts. Everyone is freindly and I feel like they actually care about the others on the site and aren't just out to impresse everyone. When I started a thread about shipping a bike. It turned into a conversation with several people who I felt ACTUALLY wanted to know how things were going. It was nice to have people to share my excitement with. So to you MODS THANKS A TON. :twfrox: because of you guys.

I want to ride the dragon SOOOO BAD but Im not all that agressive of a rider especially on roads I don't know so I hope theres a group that wouldn't mind riding in the back with me. Or at least that you guys would wait for me at the end. And I want to ride with some of the peeps from here. Im working on getting in shape so I know if I can make the trip on the bike. We'll see but Im going to give it my best shot to get there.

That's not important. Some here are supper fast and do track days and race regularly while other just ride flat straight roads. Some ride mountain roads all the time and are still slow. (like me) but we are all just having fun. Some of the guys I ride with regularly couldn't keep up with a veteran speed junkie on a Harley but we enjoy ridding and hanging out with each other.

True. A sight run is a must. Especially a road like that. I'm not nearly the fastest guy on the street. I don't claim to be. I dont want to be either...I'd rather stay alive and have a good time. But I like to get low after I get accustomed to the road a little bit.
marko138 06-16-2006, 06:40 AM :jacked: How did this turn into the TWF Rally thread?
i dont know but I am right there with ya'll, i need a time around or 2 to get a feel for the road and then I can do twisties at the dragon, but I still like to enjoy the scenery and not quite breakneck speed!! maybe those of us down here can hook up somewhere on the way and ride up to the gap together...
Not everyone rides as fast as jeeps on the dragon. I am still slow, I am working on getting much faster. I believe the pilot powers will help.
