heres the deal. I drive a half ton pickup and due to fuel prices I am shopping around for something more efficient. In my research it has been tough to find websites that list gas mileage of sportbikes. However I have found that when I do it seems like most people, regardless of bike claim to get between 35-40 mpg. I found a decent site where a guy who has an SV1000S and says he gets consistently 40 mpg. (I am leaning towards this bike.) Heres where I get confused. My girlfriend has an SV650S and I have ridden it quite a bit and I get like 67mpg on it. My buddys dad has a harley 1000cc and he claims to get 50-60 mpg. It was on this site where I read someone else has an SV650 and claimed only about 45 mpg. Does anyone out there keep track of gas mileage and if so I'd appreciate some numbers.

On my old 2000 SV650 I got 38-44 mpg
On the 2003 R1 I am getting 36-46 mpg
It all really depends how hard I am on it, which I'm hard on it most of the time anyway. I don't know if its the new exaust or that I'm just always going so fast, but I've been down to 36 mpg lately.

First :welcome: to TWF
From all accounts that I've heard you can expect about 50+ mpg from a stock SV650s if it is '03 or newer (fuel injected) with normal driving. Any mods (exhaust etc) or wrist happy riding can quickly drop that number. I'm getting about 44-48 mpg on my '01 but I ride it very conservatively...:2cents:

Just like anything else. The easier you are with the throttle. The better mileage you will get. I average midd 30's on almost every bike I have owned. My chopper actually seems to be the best averaging in the low 40's.
