Whats up everyone
This is the third forum I've joined since I passed MSF on may 14th. All forums came up short in one way or another. 1st had a very active forum, but sports bike section was non existant. 2nd has good sports bike section, just not as active. Anyway I still post at the other two, from what I've read I like this forum.
Never rode before MSF. As first bike I'm down to 4. Kawsaki: zx-6r, zzr600 or 650r. Other then that I like the Honda CBR600.
Little info about me. I'm 6'4 about 260, will be 25 this month. Tried the zx-6r, was real comfortable. Shops I went to didn't have the 650r in stock. Tried the honda, that felt good too.
anyway like I said, whats up
:welcome: :twfrox:
No love for the SV?
650r or zzr are both decent choices for learning on.
If you're talking about the SV650. Nah I don't like them, don't like naked bikes. Only suzuki I like is the Hayabusa. Not ready for that yet though.
Order I'm looking at right now is:
Real undecided on what I will get, but it will be one of those 4 choices for sure.
no the SV650S with the lower fairing on it. Like mine. It competes against the ninja 650r, actually it is where the 650r came from.

wow, that looks real good. Checked out the other pics too. Where did you get the fairings though? I had looked at the S before, but it shows as a naked bike still on website

I sat on both the Ninja 650r and the SV650s today. And while they are comparable. The SV is significantly lighter and in my opinion just sits better. That's what I decided on today after sitting on abotu 10 different bikes... One dealer in town still has the 2006 in Red... I'm thinking really, really hard on that one.... I definately want to add the lower fairing... and sliders... to start with... then move on from there with the down time this winter.
pucky, if you get one let me know and I can tell you all the pitfalls of what not to do like sliders, there are two different types that work and there are a ton that don't. Suzuki's OEM sliders for the lower fairing suck bad. There are some no cut ones that are good.
AQCZ, there are a ton of lower fairing options you can get. Mine are addon OEM lower fairings. You can get them pretty cheap at ronayers.com.
Why the 650r is heavier is because it is a steel frame bike and the SV is aluminum. The 650r doesn't have clip on handle bars which is why it sits awkward, but you can change that to make it sit more sporty.
cool, checked it out. Thanks for link.
Checked that bike out on bikepics. Like the dash. Funny how web sites like kawasaki, suzuki, etc.. never show good angles like the dash.
here is a bunch of pics of sv's

There are a lot more mods for this bike and you can truly make it look like anything you want it to.
There is a whole street body setup that makes it look racey for them at www.sharkskinz.com
hmmm bike is becomming more tempting. will have to see it in person. Too bad the places around here are closed sunday. will check out next week.
unpainted but this is the race street style bodywork. You can see there is no rear seat at all. It is a race rear.

:welcome: man. Stick around. Pretty soon you'll be like the rest of us... saying how much :twfrox:
Yea I'll definitely stick around. Cool forum, like the vibe. To Earlzach, I'll have to check out wallmart. Didn't know you could get a bike cover that cheap.
I got mine from denniskirk.com on closeout real cheap. It is a nelson rigg defender. I had bought another brand from cycle gear and it sucked bad. This defender seems really well made.
man you're fast lol
more good info. will definitely need a cover.
already have my helmet and gloves. now i just need a few more pieces and oh yea the bike. Then i'll be set. See a lot of nice jackets but most would be too hot here (Miami). Somebody advised on textile. dunno how protective that is. Not going to be like a lot of ppl here and think protective is sunglasses and nothing else. not even a helmet
SV650S is calling me now.... dunno about the 650 anymore. SV Grew on me

Welcome!
I'm a Kawasaki girl myself, but the SV is high on my lust list when I get a new bike next year (the other contestant is the ZZR600). I know tons of people who have the SV (from newbie riders to track junkies) and seriously I've not heard one complaint about them. You really can't go wrong with it -- it's just a great all around bike, and something you won't get bored with in a couple years.
Knight 07-05-2006, 01:11 PM :iagree: Yeah it grew on me too. I liked the curvy a little better and I got a sweet deal on it so that's what I went with. :yup: for the SV650S! No additional fairings for me yet, I'll wait until I get a bike that comes with them stock in a couple of years once I'm ready for a true sport bike.
stomper173 07-05-2006, 02:55 PM The R6S is nice too.
:iagree: and they still make the YZF 600R, which is a good bike for the buck to learn on to, only a few hundred more than a naked

Good point about the 600R.
jeeps84 07-05-2006, 06:59 PM AQCZ :welcome: to TWF.
I'm sure you already know how close the performance is with all the new bikes. You also seem to know what a beginners bike is. So pick one you like the looks of and go for it.
