Becca_007 10-06-2004, 11:29 AM Hi everyone. I was doing a google search to find out info about the Z750S and I stumbled across this site. Figure it best to do a little introduction as I don't believe I know anyone here.
Like my handle eludes to, my name is Becca. I live in Kalamazoo, Michigan so I will probably frequent the Mid-West section here just like I do over at CamaroZ28.com Earlier this year (July) I decided to learn how to ride. A 1982 Yamaha X650J was purchased and I'm proud to say I haven't dumped it yet! So, now I have a bike bug. I even made a trip to Canada to check out the Z750. I kind of like their 750 styling better than the rediesigned US version, but the US model is cheaper in the end and there will be less red tape to deal with. I've already been in contact with two local dealers and am getting updates as to their ordering dates and the like. I WILL own one of these bikes!
Bit more background: I have a deep love for speed and performance. I owned a 1998 Camaro Z28 for a few years (bought used), then traded it in for a brand new 2002 Camaro SS LE when they announced it was the last year. I also Kart race which helps to eliminate some of the wear and tear I would otherwise cause my Camaro! I could go on about other interests, but I think that about covers what is most applicable.

CharlieMavCBR 10-06-2004, 12:12 PM Hi Becca!!!!
Nice to meet ya!! I haven't got a bike yet or learned how to ride yet, but all that will change next spring. My hubby and I have decided to learn and get our own bikes. He wants a Ninja and I want a CBR 600 f4i...
I do share you love for speed though. Nothing like it in the world. As long as it's responsible...LOL
Hope to post with ya soon.
~* ChaR *~
ShanMan14 10-06-2004, 12:16 PM Welcome to the site! We've got quite a large Michigan crowd here, so you're in good company.
I used to live there myself, and I know Kalamazoo quite well. I also have passion for performance, I own a 1998 Corvette.
You're going to love this place, the only problem you'll have it finding enough time to post!
Mudpuppy 10-06-2004, 12:21 PM What up B. Performance is good. Performance and Yamaha go hand in hand. I would highly recommend the bar none best quality, performance and class of either the R6 or R1. You will not be disappointed. Good to see more Michigandeers on board on the TWF. GO BLUE!
Becca_007 10-06-2004, 12:33 PM Thanks for the replies guys and gals. I guess I'm not what you would consider a very girly girl... I like cars, bikes, sports, and computers. Don't get me wrong, every now and then it's good to go out shopping and catch up on the gossip but I guess I never outgrew the tom boy phase.
Alas:
Go Blue, woot!
Go Lions, I will always cheer for them
Go Wings, if they have a season
I will watch other sports, but football is my favorite followed by hockey.

Nothing wrong with that. My fiancee is the same way - she loves football, racing, etc. - That is my kind of girl for sure.. You can throw those high maintenance types back for sure. Rock on!
GO LIONS and take the Tigers with you!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe try Ohio or something..
Wings and NHL are dead to me so I cannot comment on that right now.

Becca_007 10-06-2004, 03:42 PM Time for some pics...
Here is my 2002 Camaro SS LE. Only 3150 of these cars were made and I am the happy owner (or will be when the payments are done) of one.

Unfortunately this is a pic of the kart that I sold over the winter. I now race in the Rotax class so the engine is much different. Everything else is pretty much the same though.

Now for what brought me to this site to begin with; My 1982 Yamaha XJ650J. Since this was taken I've replaced the hand grips (one was torn), the front foot pegs, the mirrors, and the tires.
http://www.mei.net/~becca/extras/XJ650J.jpg
And last but not least, the Z750s is the bike I plan on buying next spring. It has been in Europe and Canada for a couple of years but Kawasaki finally announced it's US arrival for 2005.

Lol... or look above for a similar picture! The one in this post is supposed to be the US version.

Need4Speed 10-06-2004, 03:52 PM that xj650 looks like my old Maxim 650...but in much better condition than mine...very impressive !!
GSXR1000DJ 10-06-2004, 03:55 PM that xj650 looks like my old Maxim 650...but in much better condition than mine...very impressive !!
Her seats look a little(alot) more comfortable then yours to sit on. :D
Becca_007 10-06-2004, 04:04 PM My seat is pretty much a couch and it is very comfortable. She is a Maxim, or so I was told. That's what all the XJ J stuff is about. Someone had the bike sitting in a barn for several years so the chrome isn't real pretty and it needed some help to become road worthy. Heck, it needed a lot of help just to get started! Nothing that a lot of battery charging (after new battery was bought) and a turkey baster (to force the gas through) didn't fix. The tank and side covers were painted not to long ago, and I find it funny that they used bright chevy red... same exact color as my Camaro. I must also confess that the exhaust isn't quite so pretty right now either. The little cover that was welded on (under the left side front peg) fell off during a ride. Unless I get lucky in a salvage yard, it will NOT be replaced. Course this bike will soon be sold so I can have a down payment for the new one.
Need4Speed 10-06-2004, 04:08 PM I had those trademark Yamaha Special swoop handlebars cut off of mine, and put out straight.. i just could never get used to feeling comfortable turning at any decent speeds with them.
and you DJ :smash: I recently spent 100.00 getting that seat redone..
GSXR1000DJ 10-06-2004, 04:21 PM and you DJ :smash: I recently spent 100.00 getting that seat redone..
Now it will feel nice and cozy on my tushy. :D
Welcome to the board, nice rides. :)
2WheelTuner 10-06-2004, 05:27 PM Looks like an MRP Birel, but slightly less red. :D

Becca_007 10-06-2004, 06:54 PM You are exactly right about the Kart. I believe it was a Q31 but I painted the chasis purple to go along with my racing theme. My kart this season is a Biese (those are gray chasis) so I didn't bother painting it. I did, however, get some decaling done on my silver pods... in purple of course.
You gots to have toys! Otherwise what's the point? I do have a not so spectacular winter/rain car. It's a 1990 Lumina with tons of rust and a few minor mechanical problems. Other than the motorized toys, I also enjoy messing around with computers. Three years ago I bought me first rig and now I just can't get enough. Here are some pics of the first two cases I played with http://www.mei.net/~becca/computers.htm. The premier now belongs to my nephews and I turned the matrix into my server. I don't have any pics of my current gaming/computing rig.
I also noticed someone on here by the name of Kayaker... do you kayak? I've been down the Kalamazoo river several times in mine (nothing special) but I have always wanted to try to go surfing in Lake Michigan. Maybe one of these days... I only had it in the water once this past year and that was to practice log rolls which I still can't do.

:seeya: Hello!
Yes, I've been doing white water kayaking on and off for a few years now. Not much around here, but South Bend has a man made white water course that is pretty decent. Usually head down to N. Carolina for one or two weeks a year to run the rivers there.
Lake Michigan is fun to play in the waves in, you should try it sometime. The roll is the hardest part. I live on a lake and keep telling myself to get out and practice more, but somehow I forget. I'm about 20% on my rolls, meaning I miss far more than I hit. If you get some time, look into Lee's sports. Come winter they usually have half a dozen classes in the pool out at WMU for about 15 bucks for two hours or so.

Becca_007 10-07-2004, 09:02 AM Lee's is where I bought my paddle, PFD, skirts and the like. I went to one of the openwater days to try out some other boats but I just don't have the money or time to spend on an upgrade. I've got a classic hybrid type I guess, can go down the river or out on the lake. I just prefer moving water because I don't like to paddle in a straight line! One of these days I'll see some big water; at least go through some class 3s and 4s which is huge when you're used to the Kalamazoo river.
I've had my Camaro out to the track 4 times and her best run is a 13.488 @ 102.93. She is bone stock and I pretty much plan on keeping it that way. Aside from the fact that it still isn't paid for, it's kind of a collector so I don't want to do anything that isn't easily reversible. However, computer programming, and a new rearend are both weighing heavily in my mind. It's an automatic so it came with the 2.73 gears... not very aggressive. I did have it on a dyno once and it's now an ongoing joke. The workers knew nothing about the engine and my numbers came back as 200hp at the tires... lol. I realize that 345hp is the fly rating, but I doubt I lost 145 by the time it's hits the rear. Oh well... makes for a good story and one heck of a sleeper if it's true :).
Picture? Okay...
http://www.mei.net/~becca/extras/Hawaii%20Bike.JPG
... I'm the one sitting on the handlebars, as if you couldn't guess.
ShanMan14 10-07-2004, 09:05 AM Isn't it hard to ride like that? :D
Becca_007 10-07-2004, 09:25 AM Hehe... that's my best friend on the seat. One of his friends from college decided to get married in Hawaii ealrier this year and he HAD to go be in the wedding. I got to tag along. This particuar part of the trip involved being driven up the volcano at 3:00 in the morning and then 'biking' down. The guides stopped us at this point to take some pictures as it was too hairy to take a camera with you on your bike (and they wouldn't allow it). They put us in this pose. I keep kidding my friend (Mark) that I'm going to get a pic of him sitting on my handlebars!
kayaker 10-07-2004, 09:25 AM It's a long wait until next summer, but as for moving water the East Race in South Bend has class II and maybe a class III depending on how open the dams are. Very beginner friendly as you can either bomb straight down (like I usually do) or stop and play in some holes along the way. I think it costs around $8 for an all day use bracelet. Only bad part is when you reach the bottom it is probably just over a 1/4 mile walk with your gear back to the top. But until you are 100% with your onside roll and have some success with your offside, I would stay out of class IV rapids. Not that you have to worry about that around here. But surfing the waves on Lake Michigan is great fun when they are 3-5 feet.
I paddle a Dagger GTX white water boat, which isn't small enough to play in, but it does ok as an all around boat. A buddy of mine has about one of everything, though, so I try to play around with those when I get the chance.
Lee's is a pretty good shop for the area. Kind of limited in selection and a bit pricey but there is nothing else around. Look for the WMU schedules come later the winter time. A couple sessions they get together and play water polo.
As yes, the Hawaii bike trip. I stayed on the island of Maui for a week when I was stationed at Schofiled Barracks. We went up that same mountain for watch the sunrise, but didn't do the bike trip back down. Did you snorkel the Molokini crater while there? The weather didn't work out for us to do it so had to settle for some cove instead.
Need4Speed 10-07-2004, 10:45 AM Atleast you can't call them squids!! they got thier gear on :D
Mudpuppy 10-07-2004, 12:41 PM All you had to say is automatic and I lost all interest in the Camaro - take it to your nearest junkyard and scrap it. The rest is all words to me. Next thing I know you will be saying it has a 6 cylinder in it. Too bad it is a nice looking car.
Becca_007 10-07-2004, 02:23 PM To each his own I guess. I'm very happy with my car being an automatic. In heavy traffic I don't have to stress about a clutch, I always have an extra hand for messing with the radio/phone, and it pulls much more consistent track times that way. Only downside is the automatics has shorter gears; 3.23 versus the 3.42 in the manuals (I was wrong earlier but just looked it up).
Anyways... when I want to shift I take the bike!
rockadaous 10-07-2004, 03:12 PM welcome to the boars. nice toys ya have there

just be careful with those extra hands! ;)

I bought a auto in mine car aswell for the same reason. Plus it is way faster that CAL's ride. :leaving:
Gas Man 10-08-2004, 06:33 AM Well, I'm not a particular fan of either. I think certain cars are better with each, depending on the car. However, they are using the 5 speed auto's alot more and they have a better ratio than the old autos....
Mudpuppy 10-08-2004, 12:35 PM Sports Car = no question manual shift
4x4 Truck = automatic no question
Any further questions? You don't buy an Enzo with an automatic kids. To each their own or whatever - it is a fugging sports car meant to be beat on and not in "heavy traffic" - drive your Mazda 6 in that heavy traffic or some other low grade car... I just don't get it.
Becca_007 10-08-2004, 12:52 PM Technically it's a muscle car :p:
Sports cars are two seaters. One could argue whether people can sit in the backseat of mine or not, but I can pack more 'stuff' in than I could with say a Corvette.
When I get to upgrade my winter beater to a more reliable automobile I want to get something that is more handling oriented... like a BMW M3 or the ever so coveted (in my mind anyway) 2006 M5 http://www.edmunds.com/reviews/roadtests/firstdrive/103035/article.html. So I'm dreaming about the M5 and the M3 might be pushing it too. A 330i is proably a lot closer to what I'll end up with but I can fantasize, right?!
Need4Speed 10-08-2004, 12:57 PM I fantasize about a second car with no paint chipping off!
GSXR1000DJ 10-08-2004, 01:45 PM I fantasize about a second car with no paint chipping off!

They quit making muscle cars in 1975. It is a sports car and a defaced one at that with the unthinkable automatic transmission. Makes as much sense as a submarine with a screen door.
