Womens Corner: Why I started ridiing?TATER 07-30-2006, 05:59 PM Here's one for the ladies...I have a few options in the poll so pick the one that suits your situation the best.. justpucky 07-30-2006, 06:05 PM Hey tater... what poll? TATER 07-30-2006, 06:08 PM the north pole....
j/k it's up now.. I always wondered why some of the ladies started riding.. not that they need a reason more than a man does but it is less comon to see a female rider so I wonder why they start...
my reason: Like Ricky Bobby says "MAMMA I'M GOIN FAST!!!" justpucky 07-30-2006, 06:14 PM Well, some of the last three apply, but not the real reason I started riding.
My family had a quadrunner when I was in high school, but other than peddle bikes I'd never been uo2 before. Shortly after college I had a relationship with this idiot. He moved in, and talked me into buying a bike. I've always held equal amounts of fascination and fear of bikes. I only rode with him twice (totally afraid and not riding properly) before the relationship ended and he left me with bike payments and a bike I couldn't ride. I sold that one; but now years later (still equally intimidated and fascinated by bikes) I decided enough was enough, I signed up for the MSF course and bought a bike. I won't live in fear of anything, and the only way to deal with this one is to get comfortable on the bike. So now I ride.... Sometimes I'm still all nerves, and sometimes I just feel the bike. Gas Man 07-31-2006, 12:04 AM I added a option... the guys need somin... justpucky 07-31-2006, 07:44 AM I added a option... the guys need somin...
But Tater put this in the Ladies corner to do research on the female psyche... why do the guys need an answer in the poll :skep: :nonod:  :leaving: Rae 07-31-2006, 08:02 AM you need to add an "other" option...all my uncles rode bikes, my mom owned a shop back in the day with her husband and competed in dirt biking events (well before I was ever thought of) and my dad used to do amatuer racing as well as dirt biking, (i never knew about my dad tho till i started riding) so i guess its in my blood, i have always wanted to do it, it was just a matter of getting around to it...eventually when I have time I want to do track days and learn to race... neebelung 07-31-2006, 08:04 AM I had a boyfriend (now ex) who rode... When we met, I was terrified of bikes... he broke me in gently, however, and I grew to love it. I also got heavily involved in the local sportbike community, and met some of the most amazing friends.
The boyfriend and I broke up, but my love of bikes didn't fade. So I set about learning to ride, and got my own bike! :dthumb: itgirl25 07-31-2006, 09:18 AM i was a bit of a tomboy when i was little and grew up on dirtbikes. then when i was 18 a bunch of my friends started getting bikes and i saw all the hot trim (as marko138 would say) they were sportin' on the back each weekend. i thought i needed to cash in on that, and i already loved being on 2 wheels. so i got my first streetbike, the YSR50. kept that for a season and then sported the ninja 250. i was the only girl i knew that rode back then, so imagina how popular that made me with the fellas. i've loved motorcycles all my life and can honestly say that i ride for the love of the sport now. motorcycles are a passion for me. it is the best thing i coulda done. those that don't ride don't know what they are missing! :dthumb: psychochild28 07-31-2006, 09:34 AM Yea drewpy got me into riding by getting me into the classes for my birthday. Altough, I've always wanted a bike, but my rents hate them and didn't/don't want me to get one. Oh well guess they'll find out soon enough i have my own now. :yikes: jeeps84 07-31-2006, 09:42 AM But Tater put this in the Ladies corner to do research on the female psyche... why do the guys need an answer in the poll :skep: :nonod:  :leaving:
Have you read the poll? :rofl3: Besides, you know we cant stay out of the good threads. justpucky 07-31-2006, 09:45 AM Have you read the poll? :rofl3: Besides, you know we cant stay out of the good threads.
yes, that comment you quoted was my answer when Gas edited the poll and added that last choice "for the guys". Yes you guys always comment, but to edit the poll... now I bet some lurking females aren't participating becuase of the tilt... it was still innocent flirting with taters options. While Gas's poll answer is perfectly in character for TWF... I don't know if it's totally apropriate for a poll posted in the women's corner. Gas Man 07-31-2006, 02:12 PM Oh...shucks Pucky... its perfect...
Do we need a "other"? justpucky 07-31-2006, 02:28 PM Oh...shucks Pucky... its perfect...
Do we need a "other"?
I thought Tater already had an "other" response.
I love tater.. I'm gunna marry him someday...
That's what I used when none of the other options worked for me. Pippi 07-31-2006, 03:37 PM I thought Tater already had an "other" response.

 I would think the "boyfriend rode & got you interested in teh biking culture" would fit - do you think that if you never had the relationship with the "idiot" you would have gotten into bikes anyway?
I had an "idiot" after college as well, and that is how I got into bikes, but moreso after him so I selected the "boyfriend rode & got me interested" even though he was an ex when I really got into riding. Yeah I feel that this is going to be a very one sided pole when all of us get done with it :slol: :slol: justpucky 07-31-2006, 07:30 PM  I would think the "boyfriend rode & got you interested in teh biking culture" would fit - do you think that if you never had the relationship with the "idiot" you would have gotten into bikes anyway?

Actually if I hadn't gotten mixed up with him, I would have had my own bike sooner. For a while after that, I didn't want anything to do with him. I certainly didn't want him to think he'd had a lasting impression on my life. Wanted nothing to do with bikes for years. And he likes the chrome cruisers... I've always been drawn to the sport bikes... different culture for sure. | |
