Deals Gap rally possible dates.

As suggested in this thread (http://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=11001). Trying to narrow down the month that you thinks works best for you. The pole will determine by majority. Then we will start another pole to later do determine the exact day of the month. As for the weather conditions during these months April = 60 to 70 degree days with very cool nights. Quit a bit of rain. May = 60 to 70 degree days with tolerable nights. Spring showers June = 70 to 80 degree days with more tolerable nights. After noon T storms. July = 70 to 90 degree days and warmer nights. Afternoon T storms August = 70 to 100 degree days, warm nights and dry. September = 70 to 80 degree days. Nights start to cool and Dry

I'm all about June, i'll have graduate classes until early-mid may.

And as Jeeps mentioned in the other thread, we're looking at pulling a whole week. So if you miss the first or last weekend for the graduation, you'll still be able to make it for 5 or 6 days.

For new riders you also have leaves to worry about though in the fall. They can be quite treacherous.

We were discussing a public poll (meaning you can click to see who voted for what) And this poll turned out by forum default to be private (meaning all you see is the numbers and not who actually voted)

Guess Im the only one so far that wants July... afternoon tstorms here and there are just par for the course in the summer no matter what month you go but July normally works well because every is out of school, vacations are already planned, summer camps for sports havent started as much yet, and you're guaranteed alot of great riding time.

It's hot, me no likey hot weather. Of course I got nominated for jumping in the 130 degree oven on wednesday.

See I voted for May. Less people and rallies to contend with. Plus not the heat of the other months. Fall is bad.. for like already stated... leaves!!

They do come often. You are more likely to get dry weather in june. Early June is the best time. First week of june is what I would make it. You would deal with the FZ1 and SV rallies, but they didn't have that big of a group. Riding on friday was spectacular how low traffic was around the area, ask R1. The weekend is normally busy, no escaping that.

Is 4th of July week(weekend) not a good time to be at the gap?

holidays are just a bad idea in general. They usually have a large chopper contingent that shows up for those. They travel in large packs and ride so you can't pass.

Don't worry... I'll let you guy pass. I'll probably play rear safety aka sweeper.

Only problem with May is, that's just after spring and not everyone has shaken off the rust of the winter yet. Deals Gap isnt the time to be "getting back into the swing of riding". Still though it would be nice to ride in 80 degree weather instead of 110 ! ;)

june would be the best month for everyone, not too hot. Summer T-storms aren't regular yet and may showers are trickling off. No tricky leaves to worry about. Everyone will be out of school and more businesses accept employees taking vacations in the summer. Tourists are always there, so don't try to escape them by going early or late.

June looks like it is winning so before the next poll begins here are some dates of the weekends to think about. June 1st - 3rd: Suzuki GS Southeastern rally (didn't go up to the gap this weekend) June 8th - 10th: SV, FZ1, Stardog Motorcycle Group, Massachusetts Dragon Riders, North Florida Peckerheads all have rallies (with the number of groups it was surprisingly calm, low numbers in each group) June 15th - 17th: R1/R6 Forums, Contour Enthusiast Group, Kawasaki ZX6E, Latrobe PA Hog Chapter have rallies and it is also the same weekend of the Cherahola Challenge a bicycle race across the skyway and dragon. (bad bad bad weekend to go to the gap) June 22nd - 24th: MG International, Horizons Unlimited, Honda Hoot, YZF600R.COM, C3 Corvettes, SBN's FZ6 Riders Cooper Mini's may also be this weekend. (Honda Hoot nuff said, large crowds) June 29th - July 1st: Cooper Mini's may be this weekend, Annual Cherokee County Cycles, it is also the weekend before july 4th which will increase crowds. (don't know much about this weekend, probably be crowded because of july 4th)

I DO NOT want to be there during any car rallies... 2 years ago the Subi guys hit head on trying to pass in the dragon. Those car guys are nuts!

I would bet on the Sti or the miata running the dragon quicker than most motorcycles that show up out there

Especially when trying to pass in very short distances. If you met one in a corner. They take up the whole road. If you met another bike. If everybody keep their cool. You can pass with no issues. The fact is, we don't want to be there when the car clubs are.

His name is a Darryl Cannon and him and his wife Lori and few other guys take pics of people riding all day. Check out www.killboy.com You can get some pics of yourself riding the dragon from him.
