jeeps84 08-03-2006, 02:24 AM As suggested in this thread (http://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=11001). Trying to narrow down the month that you thinks works best for you. The pole will determine by majority. Then we will start another pole to later do determine the exact day of the month.
As for the weather conditions during these months
April = 60 to 70 degree days with very cool nights. Quit a bit of rain.
May = 60 to 70 degree days with tolerable nights. Spring showers
June = 70 to 80 degree days with more tolerable nights. After noon T storms.
July = 70 to 90 degree days and warmer nights. Afternoon T storms
August = 70 to 100 degree days, warm nights and dry.
September = 70 to 80 degree days. Nights start to cool and Dry
justpucky 08-03-2006, 08:22 AM May or June... I put in for June now.
Knight 08-03-2006, 08:33 AM I'm all about June, i'll have graduate classes until early-mid may.
marko138 08-03-2006, 09:05 AM I voted June. May would probly be cool with me too.
drewpy 08-03-2006, 12:24 PM the problem with may is that is when most gradutaions are and i would hate to miss walkin for a rally

We'll vote on the week later. You can vote for a week in June that works. And as Jeeps mentioned in the other thread, we're looking at pulling a whole week. So if you miss the first or last weekend for the graduation, you'll still be able to make it for 5 or 6 days.
bumblebee 08-03-2006, 12:49 PM Hey!! how come I can't click on the poll to see who voted??
because jeeps didn't make it that way, I make my polls that way. You have to click that option when you make it.
justpucky 08-03-2006, 01:02 PM Yeah, I made my poll annonymous too. No Clicky there either.
jeeps84 08-03-2006, 01:05 PM Hey!! how come I can't click on the poll to see who voted??
If I had thought about it before hand I would have made it public. Forum default leaves it anomies.

So Fix it!!! I thought you mods could do anything...:tt:

Not possible. Or at least not from me.
jeeps84 08-03-2006, 01:50 PM So Fix it!!! I thought you mods could do anything...:tt:
Hang tight. I'm working on it.
pickle.of.doom 08-03-2006, 01:52 PM I think a September trip would be pretty kick ass....
haste 08-03-2006, 01:53 PM i voted may but june works too.
jeeps84 08-03-2006, 02:01 PM I think a September trip would be pretty kick ass....
Spring and fall are my favorites times to ride the Gap and any other place for that matter.

I was right. I cant change that once a poll has started. I don't think its important enough to start over with a new one and make everybody vote again.
summer is usually easier for everyone to be available though.
super hulk 08-03-2006, 02:20 PM I donno what yer all talkin about, I was able to view the poll before I voted. Sept. cool nights!
For new riders you also have leaves to worry about though in the fall. They can be quite treacherous.

We were discussing a public poll (meaning you can click to see who voted for what) And this poll turned out by forum default to be private (meaning all you see is the numbers and not who actually voted)
Need4Speed 08-03-2006, 09:38 PM Guess Im the only one so far that wants July... afternoon tstorms here and there are just par for the course in the summer no matter what month you go but July normally works well because every is out of school, vacations are already planned, summer camps for sports havent started as much yet, and you're guaranteed alot of great riding time.
It's hot, me no likey hot weather. Of course I got nominated for jumping in the 130 degree oven on wednesday.
Gas Man 08-04-2006, 12:30 AM See I voted for May. Less people and rallies to contend with. Plus not the heat of the other months.
Fall is bad.. for like already stated... leaves!!

Yeah but you have to deal with may showers. They do come often. You are more likely to get dry weather in june. Early June is the best time. First week of june is what I would make it. You would deal with the FZ1 and SV rallies, but they didn't have that big of a group. Riding on friday was spectacular how low traffic was around the area, ask R1. The weekend is normally busy, no escaping that.
1BadCBR 08-04-2006, 06:33 AM Is 4th of July week(weekend) not a good time to be at the gap?
holidays are just a bad idea in general. They usually have a large chopper contingent that shows up for those. They travel in large packs and ride so you can't pass.
Gas Man 08-04-2006, 09:30 PM Don't worry... I'll let you guy pass. I'll probably play rear safety aka sweeper.
Need4Speed 08-04-2006, 10:09 PM Only problem with May is, that's just after spring and not everyone has shaken off the rust of the winter yet. Deals Gap isnt the time to be "getting back into the swing of riding". Still though it would be nice to ride in 80 degree weather instead of 110 ! ;)

That is true on both counts!
I do not want to ride in 90-110 degree CRAP!
june would be the best month for everyone, not too hot. Summer T-storms aren't regular yet and may showers are trickling off. No tricky leaves to worry about. Everyone will be out of school and more businesses accept employees taking vacations in the summer. Tourists are always there, so don't try to escape them by going early or late.
June looks like it is winning so before the next poll begins here are some dates of the weekends to think about.
June 1st - 3rd: Suzuki GS Southeastern rally
(didn't go up to the gap this weekend)
June 8th - 10th: SV, FZ1, Stardog Motorcycle Group, Massachusetts Dragon Riders, North Florida Peckerheads all have rallies
(with the number of groups it was surprisingly calm, low numbers in each group)
June 15th - 17th: R1/R6 Forums, Contour Enthusiast Group, Kawasaki ZX6E, Latrobe PA Hog Chapter have rallies and it is also the same weekend of the Cherahola Challenge a bicycle race across the skyway and dragon.
(bad bad bad weekend to go to the gap)
June 22nd - 24th: MG International, Horizons Unlimited, Honda Hoot, YZF600R.COM, C3 Corvettes, SBN's FZ6 Riders Cooper Mini's may also be this weekend.
(Honda Hoot nuff said, large crowds)
June 29th - July 1st: Cooper Mini's may be this weekend, Annual Cherokee County Cycles, it is also the weekend before july 4th which will increase crowds.
(don't know much about this weekend, probably be crowded because of july 4th)
Gas Man 08-06-2006, 11:28 PM I DO NOT want to be there during any car rallies... 2 years ago the Subi guys hit head on trying to pass in the dragon. Those car guys are nuts!

:withstupi I've seen some crazy Shiot from some of these guys but the Miata guys are the worst.
Yeah, the miata group is pretty famous for trying to kill everyone
Gas Man 08-07-2006, 01:04 AM Well exactly... its hard enough for bikes on 2 wheels that are really fast...let alone a car that isn't fast!

I bet I can turn a quicker lap time with my STi than you could on your Kaw.
marko138 08-07-2006, 04:51 AM I bet I can turn a quicker lap time with my STi than you could on your Kaw.
 Game on. :sw:
justpucky 08-07-2006, 08:21 AM My money is on Jeeps.
bumblebee 08-07-2006, 08:24 AM I would bet on the Sti or the miata running the dragon quicker than most motorcycles that show up out there
The fastest times do not come from two wheeled machines at the gap, a four wheel machine holds the honors.

:sorry: I didn't mean to :jacked: I think GM was talking about the fact that the cagers are just big and slow in general. Especially when trying to pass in very short distances. If you met one in a corner. They take up the whole road. If you met another bike. If everybody keep their cool. You can pass with no issues.
The fact is, we don't want to be there when the car clubs are.

Exactly... and on the subi vs my old kaw... you're right and your intimate knowledge of the road would have nothing to do with it either! :skep:
drewpy 08-07-2006, 12:33 PM who does hold the record?? or, better yet what was he driving
I forget what car is the fastest, ask killboy he knows. It's something you wouldn't think would be it.
I agree about being there with a car rally. That first week of june has none, that was a pretty calm week. I went up there this morning and it was pretty crowded for a monday. Midsummer is definitely not a good time. I was sweating like mad by noon.
In another matter, I need leathers soon, I could probably knee drag a few more times up there. My front tire has a very small chicken strip on them, but only on one side. God I love pilot powers.

Post pics of those powers in the Rave thread.Here. (http://www.twowheelforum.com/showthread.php?t=10435&page=4&highlight=pilot+power+rave+thread)
bumblebee 08-08-2006, 09:12 AM So it now looks like we have narrowed it down to the first two weeks in June...So is it time to do a poll and let's vote?
Hey Mods...do the poll so we can see who voted...:dthumb:
drewpy 08-08-2006, 09:33 AM ok, not to jack the thread, but what/who is killboy, i see bunch of pics tagged killboy online, is it a website or something??
justpucky 08-08-2006, 09:36 AM He is a photographer from Deals Gap
ok, not to jack the thread, but what/who is killboy, i see bunch of pics tagged killboy online, is it a website or something??
How can you have been to the gap and not know who killboy is? His name is a Darryl Cannon and him and his wife Lori and few other guys take pics of people riding all day. Check out www.killboy.com
You can get some pics of yourself riding the dragon from him.
So it now looks like we have narrowed it down to the first two weeks in June...So is it time to do a poll and let's vote?
Hey Mods...do the poll so we can see who voted...:dthumb:
I will start one and post what the rally info I posted earlier in it.
