Hey guys. Ive been lurking around here for a while and decided to join the ranks. As the title says I'm a fairly new rider to the sportbike world. I have a dirtbike but it doesnt get much dirt use anymore so I've decided to sell it and get a Ninja 250 instead. I'm also going to take the MSF too as soon as I can so I can learn some rules of the road. Anyways just thought I'd say hey.

Yeah my friend started on a Ninja250 and he loved it so I decided not to get the R6 I wanted. Plus my mom has calmed down a little since I showed her the 250. Shes not too happy about me riding on the street. Once I get it though I'll be sure to take some pics to post up. Oh yeah, nice welcome wagon :dblthumb2 Edit: One more question, how do you put the smileys on without having to type it all out?

Hmmm... it took me 10 tries or so to get logged in this last time and it also said I had logged back in 3 hours after I first logged out. Now that Im logged in tho everything is fine but the smileys. Weird...

where are those pics... what year/color are you getting? used or new? Don't worry they're coming. Ive got to sell my dirtbike first. Ill probably get a new one that is unless I can get a pretty good deal on a used one.

cool. I bought new, but my advice is check around your area for used, you can get em for like 1700-2000 dollars used verses 3300 new. plus when you drop it the first time (which you will, trust me) it wont feel as bad (I speak from experience). :luck: and check out www.ninja250.org. The people arent terribly friendly but theres tons of info.

:welcome: You will have a blast in the MSF course. Used is the way to go for your 1st bike. Not so much pressure about that 1st drop....cause it will happen....plus you can spend the money you saved on the used bike and buy ya a nice helmet and some gear!!

And Im hoping that I wont drop it too often since Ive dropped my dirtbike at least 5 times at a standstill. I dont think that will help much tho:lol: You will have a blast in the MSF course. Yeah I cant wait to take it. I'll probably wait until I get the bike first cause the MSF costs an arm and a leg here.

I have one thing to say ---FRAME SLIDERS. The only times I've dropped my bike (which I bought new) i was always at a stand still. Either paniced at a stop sign (before I put on the lower seat) or in the driveway. No damage (except the very ends of the mirrors) well, obviously the sliders are marked. but they saved the bike.

Yeah Ive thought about frame sliders but I heard some of them will damage more than help the bike. Theyre on the top of my list of what to get for my bike tho. Thanks again for all the advice guys :dthumb:

Thanks again for all the advice guys :dthumb: Some are cheap, and won't do the job, and some work very well. I have a set someone here recommended and they've worked great so far. When you know year/make/model ask for recommendations.

they dont make sliders for ninja 250's unfortunately. I guess its cuz its a beginners bike and ppl dont care about the plastics? also I've heard that the only thing that touches the ground is the handlebars and pegs.

You'd think they would be the first bikes on the list for frame sliders. Oh well I guess I'll have to make it without them.

i think another problem is that theres no good mounting point on the bike, anything that is already there is too weak to handle the force. But dont sweat it, if you are really worried about scratching up your fairings, take em off till you are confident.
