loki_is_a_god 08-11-2006, 06:48 AM ok, here is the deal...i have rode my friends 03 r6 ....a couple of times...and i have owned a 1994 suzuki rf900r...i rode her for a couple months....i havent riden a bike in like a year and half....i want to purchase a bike....i found the one i want....i live in arizona...btw....its in iowa.....its 23 hours ...i would of course have to ride the bike back....its a 2000 gsxr750 black/yellow....do you guys think i should do it....because i have back up i can buy a 01 r1 for 4000 her in arizona...but i think a r1 is out of my riding league...thats why i wanted the 750 just in the middle...i weigh 230lbs....what do you guys think?
ne1469 08-11-2006, 06:58 AM How many riding miles have you logged in?
loki_is_a_god 08-11-2006, 07:05 AM ride miles...i just use to ride around the city on the bikes....just cruising....for hours...thats ....it....i have never rode more then 4 hours max....i would have to ride only in the day for 12 hours or so....
Rent a pickup or something. That's way to long a ride IMO. There's nothing closer? Try checking www.craigslist.com there's always something in Vegas for sale. BTW, try to use just one period.
marko138 08-11-2006, 09:16 AM An R1 is out of your league. Period. Your skills will be rusty. Riding that far back home will putting a hurting on you. I would do what DL said...rent a truck. You'll be better off in the end.
The 2000 750 is a nice bike. FI'd. Solid runner. Post pics.
I just can't believe there's nothing around phoenix or even Vegas. have you tried Craigslist?
TATER 08-11-2006, 10:26 AM i would never recommend riding a strange bike for that long of a trip.... also you will have to have someone take you out there and what if the bike ends up being not what you expected once you see it in person... i've traveled 200 miles to look at a good deal on a bike once and asked before i went a list of 8 questions...
tire condition.
chain condition,
sproket condition,
scratches over the size of a quarter,
cracks in plastic,
brake conditions
clean title
been down before
i was told that it was pristine... get there and the bike has a bald rear tire, the chain is rusted badly, the teeth on the sproket were all hooked, huge scratch on the left fairing, crack in the upper fairing near speedo, the clutch handle is bent and the lr peg is scraped up... I walked up and looked at the bike for 30 seconds and went ape ***** on the guy.... i was like :wtf: i drove over two hours to get here and took time off from work to see this and it is nothing like you stated... i even asked you these questions and you flat out lied... it was obvious it was down and down hard at least once...
even better first thing the guy says is "I have the title right here if you got the cash" it was a rebuilt title.... :nonod: :nonod: :nonod: :nonod:

just let it be known that there are people out there that are uneployed and deadbeat loosers who have nothing better to do then waste peoples time.. I have had another guy post a pic of a different bike.... He posted a 1999 zx7 green white and purple... i get there and the bike is a 600 green white and pink... i asked wtf his problem was and he said that he had the other bike posted for weeks and no one came to look at it.... so he figured he would post the other one... he said he had 5 people coming that day... I should have stuck around and ganged up with the other 5 guys and kicked his azz.
bumblebee 08-11-2006, 11:39 AM Where is the bike in Iowa? I know some people there and maybe they can look at the bike for you and tell you if it is worth your trip up or if the bike could make the trip back...
loki_is_a_god 08-11-2006, 04:23 PM the bike is ames, iowa. i was going to fly out and then ride it back. here is the link to the bike off the cycle trader.

i am all over craigslist here in arizona, ebay, cycletrader i do nationwide searches for bikes.....i think a gsxr750 would be prefect for me...i love the yellow, black and silver of the 2000. i have riden some in my pass and i weigh 230lbs so i think this bike would fit me. its not there is not bikes here in arizona or vegas. i am just looking for a certain bike.
can i get your guys opinions on this one too? here in arizona there is a guy who is selling a 2003 gsxr600 for 4000 bones. when i kbb.com the price it should be 5480. the bike is really clean he sent me like 8 photos it has 8832 miles and he throwing in the helmet, jacket and lock for the bike for that price the bike is registered out of texas. one of his pictures shows the vin so i had a carfax ran on the bike's vin it came back perfect....last inspected with 8700 miles in january....this sounds to good to be true....i am all over this bike if its good. its just one city next to me too.

buckwild 08-11-2006, 08:36 PM In my opinion you should go for the 600. It's newer, closer to your riding level (just going by your post) and close to home. The resale value seems pretty good and after next season you may want to move up. But if you get the 00gixxer750 (which looks killa btw) you won't be losing a thing. I know you think cause you're 230 that the 6 won't fit right but it will. :luck:

Have you asked him why he is selling it? Maybe he is in debt and needs some cash to avoid a repo or foreclosure or something... Maybe he finally got his dream bike, but cannot afford both payments... Maybe his old lady flammed a nut on him about the crap engagement ring he got her while he was paying to polish that pipe...
Sometimes people just need money quick and will take a substantial loss to get it... Or maybe it's stolen :luck:

Maybe legit sale but beat to death.
loki_is_a_god 08-12-2006, 09:05 PM the four thousand dollar bike....is a scam.....i knew it the first time he emailed me the bike had a texas license plate...he was suppose to be out of chandler. he said the bike was still registered in texas so i said ok..he then said i could come by anytime to look at it. so i email him yesterday telling him i am getting my school money on monday or tuesday i want to come look at it before then. he says hes in manchester, england now. yeeeeaaaaahhh, should i wire you that money ass dumb? how nooooo scott. now i have to look for another bike. i think the one in ames, iowa is sounding like a good bike to buy. what a ****ing ride 23 hours. there is a 2000 gsxr750 here in the same city i live in but the plastics are painted like brown or something for 4400and has 17k miles. i would rather drive the bike in ames, iowa back that is only 900 bones more and 8000 less miles on it.
jeeps84 08-12-2006, 11:20 PM :luck: Its your money and your time. I personally would keep looking locally. Great deals just never happen when you looking for them.
