Ok, I just got off the phone with Marsha from Tapoco Lodge. She says the other group is really indecisive about what they want to do and she said that we could have first dibs if we want it. What I need from you is a decision. I told her we would get back to her late this week or early next week. If this is where you want to do this, let me know. I want an accurate count of rooms before we start reserving rooms. If you want to go ahead and reserve your room anyway, she says we are more than welcome to do it now. Just when you call mention you are staying with the TWF group. I thought this was the final decision on the location. I know jeeps said something about robbinsville at the gap last sunday, but I thought he made the executive decision to just stick it at tapoco and move on. It's not like robbinsville or fontana are much further from this location, we are talking in miles in the teens from this place.

I am not going economy though. Those who miss out on rooms always have the option of going to robbinsville, punkin center, or fontana village.

Any idea how many hours the drive is? Hell no. i do know it took me 17 hours to get the the north east part of Texas when i drove down there. With the occasional food and gas stops.

If she does ride, make sure she has a lot of confidence before she gets up there if she plans on riding it. Lots of traffic with no consideration for anyone up there.

But we're still receiving invoices after the 1st, so after talking to my boss, I'll be there, But I won't know until the week before if I can make it for the full week, or just a long weekend. It's just the wrong time of the month for me to take an entire week of. Revise me... I'll be there, but it might only be for a Friday Saturday, ride home Sunday... I can't make the call until the week before the rally.

This may change as the event gets closer. I vote we push for the second weekend for those that are only available on the weekend. Just trying to get as many of us on the same dates as we can.

It's looking more likely that I will only be able to make it for a few days toward the end of the week.

I should know for sure within a week what my schedule will look like at that point. Mostly I just have to make sure that grad school is done by then...I'm sure I'll be there for at least part of it even if it's just a long weekend at the end. My wife will be down for the shopping with the non-riding ladies for sure. I'll kill a bunch of beer with you at night DL!!

I told her people will be scheduling different trips between the 1st-10th time frame. Reserve your room as soon as you know when you are going to come. I will be most likely reserving my room for the 7th-10th. So how many people have made reservations? And is there a chance we could move this to maggie valley? Financially it would be MUCH better for me (and any other SVC members here). :wink:

No chance of moving anything now! Everybody is welcome to stay where they would like too.

I guess I need more information on the situation, and nobody is commenting. Who actually plans on going? This is a social as well as riding function, what is the drinking / social time ratio to the riding? What time do people plan on riding? If things turn out as I expect them too, there is no reason not to stay elsewhere for the money I can save... But I don't know these guys, only the way they talk (which doesn't always match life), I could be pleasantly suprised.

As of now. Plains are non existent. I would guess that most rides would start in the a.m. and finish well before dark or shortly afterwards. The resort has a bar but no liquor. Brown bagging (BYOB) is allowed on property but not in the dinning hall. I plan on commuting every day except the last weekend. Ill be at the resort with who ever else stays. Unless we plain a ride in this direction. At which pint We would designate a meet point like the local Dealer. BTW I'm just out side of Maggie.

I guess I'll just wait to hear more feedback from people until I can't get a reservation at maggie, then use that as an excuse not to spend the money. I'll come down on my own another time. :idk: Hard to make plans when nobody else talk about theirs. I just can't justify spending $300 at Topco for an 4 nights in an economy room sharing a bathroom, when I can get a week at maggie valley in a two bedroom condo for about $40 give or take fees (that's total for the week)... But I'm not a social person, If I stay that far away from everybody else, I'll ride by myself. and simply take my own vacation, it which case, this week doesn't work for me with my professional schedule anyway and I can make a more convienient reservation.

What ever your decision turns out. You must, I repeat, YOU MUST give me a call so you don't have to ride by yourself.

Nothing about have to, I like to. No reason to slow you down and break your routine when I'm just playing around. We'll see what happens; it's still many months away.

I don't always ride fast and enjoy following if the scenery is nice.:wink:

I'd be heading straight south through Indy. If I do it, I'll be going down the first weekend and leaving Friday the 8th. And I'll be staying at Fontana... it's all I can afford... Most people are doing the long weekend at the end and planning on staying at Tapoco, so I'm not sure it's worth it. A week later in the month works much better. 1-10 is my busy time EVERY month. We'll see what happens. I know that this is almost the only option we had for a group rally at the Gap, it's just that after talking to my boss, it's not really an option for me.

Sorry, I'm not a group person.. riding with a group this size? When I get back to the lodge, I'm gonna need to meditate in my room alone to avoid a murder. Guaranteed! No sharing rooms for me. It's not just a college trick, I might be sharing my hotel room Friday night at my MSF course.. gets me gas money. But circumstances are much different.
