Lowered4Life99 10-11-2004, 04:18 PM What kinda shoes do u guys wear when u ride? I usually wear my KSWISS or DC shoes. Someone told me to wear boots in case i wreck. It seems that boots wouldnt give me as good of a feel for the controls. What do u guys wear for daily riding?
Need4Speed 10-11-2004, 04:28 PM If you can get boots..get em, no doubt..SIDI makes some of the best..you can find great deals on boots of all types over on www.newenough.com ..If you cant get them..a pair of workboots is next best thing. I find they dont interfere at all really, and they'll really save ur lower extremities if u go down.
twisty 10-11-2004, 06:08 PM I go bear foot....I like the wind between my toes

LOL Now that is going to hurt on the twisty's if you don't keep them tucked.
I wear shoes. Plain shoes. I used to wear work boots. I like my shoes. :D
Becca_007 10-11-2004, 06:34 PM This year I've just worn Nikes. A pair of Joe Rocket Phoenixes
http://www.newenough.com/joe_rocket_phoenix_shoe_page.htm
will be under the tree though. I opted for shoes instead of boots for mobility and being able to walk around as well as get some protection while riding. I will probably get a pair of boots something next summer though so I have different options. My expense fund is just running too thin to get both right now!
My step-dad has typical work boots for his job, but he can't shift his Z1000 with 'em on. I also figure I can shift any bike I get with the shoes and I will match a pair of functional boots into the mix later. I really like the Rocket Velocities http://www.newenough.com/joe_rocket_velocity_boot_page.htm.
Need4Speed 10-11-2004, 06:42 PM i like the low profile ones for daily riding, they work well, and are quite comfortable. but if ya cant swing getting those..a pair of workboots, not the big arse steeltoe bigfoot ones, but a nice generic pair, calf-height works well too..gives good support.
GSXR1000DJ 10-11-2004, 06:46 PM So flip flops are out of the question is what your trying to me??? :D

GSXR1000DJ 10-11-2004, 07:50 PM wear the sandals..they stay on better than flipflops!
Yeah. I'll be sure to wear them tonight as we ride. :D
Mudpuppy 10-11-2004, 08:03 PM I usually wear high heels and ride in drag but shh don't tell anyone.. lol.. Seriously though I have a hard time finding good boots that fit under the shifter. I just have a pair now that would good - don't know the brand but they are basically work type boots with no steel toe, the steel toe is too much and catches on the shifter. Someone told me you can adjust the shift lever maybe I should look into that, eh?
Gas Man 10-11-2004, 09:15 PM If I plan on doing more hanging out than seroiusly riding I wear a pair of Red Wings steel toe 6 inch work boots. Why not, they offer lots of protection and the steel toe helps kick in doors of a-hole drivers that cut me off. Go by and kick!!!
I also sometimes will wear my race boots with jeans. And of coarse I wear them when I'm in leathers. A pair of Joe Rocket Speedmaster full race boots with a set of Dr. Scholls Gel inserts...
Yes I be gellin!!!

You are so gellin like Magellan. And yeah i have big feet, size 14 and their wide too. So i usually wear my shoes, havent tried with my boots yet. Well see. And i like the "go by and kick" idea. Fun stuff.

stevnmd 10-14-2004, 10:28 PM I wouldn't wear shoes that didn't completely cover my ankles. No way, no how... Do you want to see pictures showing WHY?
Riding boots. EVERY TIME I ride. No exceptions. Riding to work, I just throw a pair of shoes in my backpack and take them with me.
You do not need to FEEL your controls with your feet. After about 20 miles I'd hope that the location of the foot controls on your bike is second nature to you and not something you actually need to feel for!
Gas Man 10-15-2004, 04:29 AM I'm with ya. I don't like to ride in any shoe that doesn't cover the ankle. I have in the past, but that was B4 I knew better. I like my ankles and feet just the way they are, and I'd like to keep it that way.
stevnmd 10-15-2004, 05:32 AM Oh, I did in the past, when I first started riding, too... I also wore a nylon jacket, jeans, and no gloves. No way I'd do that now and I'm a MUCH safer rider than I was back then...

That's when the Sidi's go one. Going locally to Menards or whatever, I wear hiking boots b/c they're more comfortable to walk around in. The feel's greater in the Sidi's, but as stev pointed out, its not really that necessary.
As noted in the laces thread, ALWAYS stuff the laces of your boots into the boot so you don't get tangles. That's not fun.
Becca_007 10-15-2004, 07:56 AM Or, buy boots/shoes without laces! That's why I went with the rocket shoes (have ankle protection) and will be getting some rocket boots later... cost doesn't allow for both right now.

I have been looking at a few of rockets products and they are all pretty sweet. I am not to craxy about the shoes they have on there web site with not laces. Look funny. But as long as they protect my feet, I am good to go. :)
Need4Speed 10-15-2004, 02:05 PM I was looking at those rockets too the other day.. I like the lower calf style boots, they seem pretty comfortable..werent they like 89.00 or something dj?

Yeah. The Orbit Boot was $89.99 and the Mercury Boot was $119.99. I like them both but more the Mercury one more.

I always wear boots that cover and protect my ankles, even when, lord protect me from the gear Nazis, I wear jeans or shorts. After you get your first debris flip up across the ankle or shin, you will understand.

That's not bad. I think I paid like $185 for my Red Wing steel toed boots that I wear most of the time on the bike...or should I say work re-embursted me for....

How were they when you first got them. Hard to break in or were they firm fitting and stayed like that??
Gas Man 10-16-2004, 11:54 AM NOOOO, they are Red Wings. They are almost just as comfortable out of the box as they are now. They were a little still but only for about a day or two. But they not nearly as stiff as other brands. It is a Red Wing shoes thing. You pay top dollar for them but they also offer a awesome warrenty on them.
