Crazy250 08-19-2006, 08:41 PM Today is move in day on campus for me. In May i signed a lease for an apartment, and today when I get there its the WRONG apartment. The agent showed us one apartment and gave us another. It turns out that the person that showed it to us is actually a con-artist (she had used the same trick for at least 4 other people that I'd seen, and all kinds of other things) and that the realtor is pressing charges against that agent.
The apartment we did get is smaller, has a bunch of problems, and is generally not nearly as nice as the one we were shown. Its NOT the policy of the realtor to show "model apartments" (as in they show you one and give u a similar one). After waiting in line at their office for 3 hours, they cut our rent by 7.2% and credited us for some days because the condition wasnt good enough to live in ($100). Still, if i didnt have 4 roommates that each had their own opinion, i'd just tell them to break the lease or I'm calling a lawyer.
I am VERY mad right now. and extremely tired from moving stuff. and it rained so i couldnt get a ride in...
:cursin: x 1000000
justpucky 08-19-2006, 08:46 PM  Keep us informed one whether or not they fix the stuff properly for you. And start documenting EVERYTHING if you need to take legal action later in the semester. Pics and a complete record of your communications.
upshift 08-19-2006, 09:04 PM Man that must suck. BTW :wtf: happened to your post count? That musta been one he|| of a :whore: streak.
Crazy250 08-19-2006, 09:08 PM hahah g man did it i dont know if its permanent... i just noticed it 10 mins ago
Gas Man 08-19-2006, 10:31 PM I don't get it... a con-artist.... does he work for the campus apartment people?
Can you file a complaignt with the school?
Crazy250 08-19-2006, 10:44 PM actually its a her (she was actually pretty hott, i guess that helps)
i called her a con artist but by that i mean that she misled lots of other people (thats my definition of con-artist). some of them were misled just like we were (showed one apartment, gave another), some in other ways regarding rent etc.
Its not really to do with the school although the schools tenant union might be able to help out. I've heard the law students also provide free legal consultation. i dont know how much we're gonna fight it tho, or how much we can fight it. for now we agreed on a different lease so i suppose its fine. im still pissed.
moral of this story: never trust a woman
jeeps84 08-19-2006, 10:48 PM That's some screwed up crap. I would make sure she doesn't have that job long.
Crazy250 08-19-2006, 10:51 PM and that the realtor is pressing charges against that agent.
That's some screwed up crap. I would make sure she doesn't have that job long.
they fired her already but what i want to know is when did they find out about all this? because if they had known earlier it would have been nice not to tell your tenants about this on MOVE IN DAY. if they are pressing charges they must have known for a while. the realtor had us write out a statement about this saying "blah blah blah we got conned blah blah blah".
its obvious that they aint gonna get no money out of her, shes a broke 20 year old student.
now im just ranting. sry
jeeps84 08-19-2006, 10:56 PM Even if they did know. They don't have much liability for it. They don't know who she conned. I'm sure her pay was based on what she sold/rented. IDK if they would have any other idea.
Crazy250 08-19-2006, 11:00 PM i c your point jeeps.
yes legally they are not liable for this, and i suppose they have been nice about it with the rent reduction.
w/e like i said just ranting its been a long day.
ne1469 08-19-2006, 11:08 PM I wouldve cancelled that lease
Crazy250 08-19-2006, 11:14 PM I wouldve cancelled that lease
i wish i could. actually i wish that :cursin: that sold us the apt would have to pay for it or something. life isnt fair.

Seems like they would make her pay for some of it if it was her fault. Oh well...:luck:

You could... You signed a lease for a different apartment, legally they cannot change the terms of the lease after you sign it... unless of course the address listed on the lease matches the hole they put you in... Then it's your responsibility because you should have read it more thoroughly...
I think it might be time to stalk her for a little while... become friends with her friends, introduce your friends to her friends... then they get introduced to her... Then your friends are over one night for a party or something... They give her an upper decker and fill her shampoo bottle with Nair...:dthumb:

I love giving the upper decker... we also call it penthousing the throne... the nair is also funny although bald headed chicks are hot.... "natalie portman in V"
OneSickPsycho 08-20-2006, 10:06 PM I love giving the upper decker... we also call it penthousing the throne... the nair is also funny although bald headed chicks are hot.... "natalie portman in V"
Bald chicks can be hot, but there is nothing... NOTHING that scares a chick more than waking up bald one day...
Penthousing the throne... that's a good one... My best was in high school... A group of about 10 of us crashed a party of a really hot, superb!tch, snob chick... She hated us, we hated her... Needless to say her parents were gone for a week and the party was the first day they were gone... 4 of us crushed it in the master bath... I was the last and there was no tp... So I carefully used the his/her hand towels, folding them back into their original postion ever so gently... brown side to the wall...
We only lasted an hour before getting kicked out... my bud with the vomit at will technique drank a bunch of V8 and painted the white carpet in the living room...
We were the guerilla party terrorists of our high school...
marko138 08-21-2006, 06:37 AM My advice is find this broad and do her. That will make up for the conning.
bumblebee 08-21-2006, 07:29 AM My advice is to remember it and also remember that the university will do the same thing to you every chance they get...
READ everything they put in front of you thoroughly and completely...don't be afraid to ask questions or mark areas you want to discuss/change...People will try this stuff with you from now on...it's up to you whether they get away with it or not.

Especially if you have some sort of STD to pass her...
And yes for the record, I do know that there is something wrong with me...

actually the manager came by yesterday to apologize to everyone and he told my roommates where she works. we already know her name. he even offered to give us her number. she works at a bar on campus apparently.

Get naked pictures of her somehow... Make t-shirts with the most graphic on it... then wear it to the bar she works... Don't forget to send them to her parents too...

That seems to helpful.

The manager wants crazy to bang her too.
marko138 08-22-2006, 06:51 AM Crazy...a word of advice to you:
You will be bombarded with credit card offers while you are at college. Avoid them at all costs. All the sh*tty cards they offer you will quickly get out of hand.

I disagree... Pay your bills with the credit card, but keep the money you have allocated for those bills to pay off your card when you get each statement... Builds credit fast... Just watch out for cards with annual fees...
Then once you have established credit, get cards with points rewards and keep paying bills with the cards and paying them off each month... I am collecting CC offers that generate airline miles for a while until I find the best one... I know people who have flown for free on various vacations by doing this...
Keep in mind, a credit card is NOT free money... You have to pay it back...
marko138 08-22-2006, 01:02 PM Well sure. But I'm talking about signing up for every one you get in the mail or the stands they set up on campus (which most schools don't allow anymore)...and then having like 10 cards and maxing them all out.
fatburg 08-22-2006, 01:16 PM threaten them with the big green lazer smilie...that should set things straight.:dthumb:
Crazy250 08-22-2006, 03:46 PM thanks for the advice about credit cards.
I'm going to get one (1) and only one, and pay it off properly. That wont build your credit however. It will put you one the map, so when someone goes to give you a loan they at least see that you have paid consistently. I think that if you want to build credit you need to take out a loan and pay that back.
yeah i was  about the manager saying all that too. but I'm sure he hates her just as much as we do. she gave his company a realy bad rep and cost them a lot of money.

It does build credit... That's how I built mine... Approved for car loans and a mortgage based off that and a Shell gas card... paid off every month, never a finance charge.
More than anything, banks are looking for your ability to be given a line of credit... use it... and make on-time payments...

:iagree:
Crazy250 08-23-2006, 09:08 PM i guess i was mistaken. either way its a good idea to get a credit card, im just looking for one with some good rewards or something.
justpucky 08-24-2006, 09:04 AM Both of my main cards are both cash back rebates. I'd prefer to take vacation and ride... I don't fly many places, so airline miles mean nothing too me. With my Discover Card, you can get cash back, or up to a double rebate with certain vendors, including book stores or Running shoes. That's my primary card...
