Jacket - Did I get the right size?

Hey guys/gals,

I done a ton of searching on here and on other boards and I haven't found any definite answers to my questions. I recently purchased a large Joe Rocket Reactor 2.0 leather/textile jacket but concerned that I bought the wrong size. First off, I'm 6'1", 170 pounds, and have been referred to as "lanky" in the past. I usually were shirts with a 35" sleeve, 32" waist pants, and 42" chest.

1. Where should the jacket sleeves stop? My sleeve go slightly past my wrist bone and my gloves cover my wrist bone. Need to test this on my bike.
2. How long should the jacket be? Mine stops right at my pant line in front (very little overlap) and slightly lower in the back. I guess you could say that my waist line is a little lower than my "true" waist line.
3. How loose should the jacket be in the chest and how much clothing should you be able to fit underneath? Most important question, IMO. I just stopped by my house at lunch and tried it on with an t-shirt and oxford long-sleeve "dress" shirt. Seems to fit ok with miminal bunching in the chest/sleeves. The lining feels tight and, when used, feels a little more restrictive than without. I still have full range of motion with and without the lining installed.

I have 6 more days to decide whether to send it back for an XL or keep it. I need to sit on the bike with it on for a real test. It feels a little snug but I'm used to wearing loose clothing. Also, if needed, I could take some pics to show what I'm talking about.

Info on the jacket, size large:
Chest = 42-44"
Wasit = 34-36"
Sleeve = 34"

I ordered it from www.streetbikerider.com for $108 shipped. The site lists it for $199.99 but when you add it to the cart, the price drops to $119.99 and an additional 10% is taken off :idk:. Also qualifies for free shipping (took 12 days :yikes:).

Sorry for the long-winded post, I'm still new at this and a little worried about my purchase :willy:

1, The sleaves should cover the wrists when your on the bike.

2, It should be at the waist in the front so it doesnt bunch up when your on the bike and it should go to the top of you bum haha bum.

3. You want it to fit snug. You will see the guy on the freeway with the parracute jacket on and you know he doesnt only look silly but the jacket doesnt fit right. You want it snug but not uncomfrtable.

Hope this helps

the thing about tall guys is that you need a larger size to make sure you get the right size in your "lanky arms" but to do that your jacket ends up tp big else where. custom tailored is the way to go $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Thanks guys... I'm worried that the XL will just be wider and fit worse. Damn these long arms!! The jacket doesn't come in a large-tall either. And, on top of that, the store requires me to pay shipping there and back. So... that's another ~$35 bucks. None of the local shops have this jacket. I tried on a large in another model and it fit good. Oh well...

Called the company (PITA)... It's going to cost me $35-$40 (shipping there and back) to exchange for an XL. Went to my local cycle shop and asked their opinion. The guy said it fits me in the length/chest but the arms are borderline short. Tried on other JR jackets (Big Bang and Kawa Superstock) in large and they fit PERFECT. Grrr...

Options:
1. Pay $40 for shipping to exchange for an XL (need to send it back before Tuesday)
2. Sell the large on EBay (hope to get close to what I paid) and either buy the XL with free shipping from same store or find something that I know fits me.

Leaning toward option two and finding a jecket/size I know fits me. Rambling, once again...

What about getting some long guantlet style gloves. That might take care of your problem.:idk:

:iagree: I would think if the sleeves cover your wrist bone your good. You don't want it much too much longer or it will be annoying when your wrist is cocked back on the bars. just get some gauntlets.

I vote to get the gauntlets. You're going to want them anyway when you (if you) it a track day. Then you don't have the head ache with the jacket. But for your next one. (and we all have an addiction and purchase more and more gear), try 'em on locally, then look for the best price online. ( The instructor from my MSF course this weekend recommended Newenough.com <--- And so has Gasman)

Well, after trying on a ton of jackets this past week, I've decided to try sell it on EBay and will prob pick up a JR Blaster 2.0 leather jacket from NewEnough.com. I was able to try on the exact jacket and was pleased with the fit. Sleeves were long enough and I had enough room to fit more than a t-shirt under it. Also, ppl have been giving me the stink-eye when I say I bought a mesh jacket, so I'll go leather this time.

Pics are really dark and the one of the back is worthless. I'll try to get some better pics tonight.

On a side note, my doberman decided to eat one of my JR Supermoto gloves. The palm and all of the fingers are gone... well... technically they're out in the backyard :nonod: So... looks like I'll be searching for new gloves too.

Thanks guys for all your help!

F what people think bro. But new gear is fun too. I've got a mesh for warm weather.
