neebelung 10-05-2006, 09:35 AM Rae's lil story (which is so cute!) got me to thinkin.......
yup, we had mutual friends but had never really talked at all, we even worked together and never spoke...he was really shy and apparently I was considered very wild...  (he actually ran one time when I said hi, i think he was hiding in the bathroom, he denies it to this day!!!)
we would always go with a big group of friends to the park to play football and frisbee (all my friends were guys) and one day everyone else had to work and we were off so we met up, had a picnic and just hung out till the girl he was dating got there ( i was a serial dater back then)...he called me that night and we started seeing each other informally...this was all a week before we graduated high school (i got out early...but went to the ceremony)...he was already signed up to go to AF that fall but they called and wanted him early...so he left right after graduation...i visited him in texas when he got out of basic and while in tech school...he came back for a week that november, we got married and moved down to Florida!!! We even had a semi large wedding!! Nobody thought we would get married cuz I am not really the domestic kind...we are polar opposites in pretty much every way...but like nee said, when ya know, ya know!!!
So how did you meet your S.O.? C'mon, tell us the whole sappy story....
Rider 10-05-2006, 09:41 AM A friend of mine introduced us. We had the same last name, so my buddy thought we might be related. (Obviously we were'nt) He took me over to her apartment. She let us in, and I spent the evening helping her with her Calculus homework. It just took off from there. Not sappy but thats how it happened. :idk:
We were doing Honor guard together on base. I had a house party one night and she came over. We clicked a little bit, but the first kiss didn't come until a couple weeks later. It just so happened it was on my B-Day. She slept over my house for three weeks straight starting a week after the first kiss. We didn't smash out unitl the middle of the two weeks though. but i didn't mind for some reason. It wasn't the only thing on my mind. I wanted to show her some respect.
neebelung 10-05-2006, 09:50 AM We met on a sportbike forum, actually (sportbikes.ws). He PM'd me about a bike I had posted up for sale for a friend (neither of us had bikes at the time). We just got to be friends via PM and email (I had a boyfriend at the time... the cheating one mentioned in the other thread), and realized we lived like 4 miles apart, and knew a bunch of people in common.
Fast forward a few months, and the boyfriend and I broke up (thank GOD!), and Chris was my shoulder to cry on, my confidant, etc... we got to be good friends, I'd go to his softball games, etc.. and I was ALWAYS trying to set him up with single friends of mine (and he'd always turn the offers down).
So a couple more months go by, I hadn't seen him in a while (but we emailed daily), and I asked him to come meet me for a beer and some pool at a local pub. I didn't even have romantic feelings for him at the time, just thought he was a super nice guy, really cute, a lot of fun....
So I'm sitting there in the pub, sipping on a Bass, and he walks in, and it was like all of the sudden I realized, "WHOAH! He's hot!" (I later learned the reason he wouldn't let me set him up with any of my friends was cus he thought I was hot as well  ).... and the rest is history!
We didn't smash out unitl the middle of the two weeks though. but i didn't mind for some reason.
 If by "smash out" you mean consummated the relationship, yeah, we didn't for about 2 months actually. Saw each other ALL the time, spent the night at each other's houses all the time, etc... but just took our time in that regard. And obviously, it worked out for the best!
fatburg 10-05-2006, 09:52 AM here it goes:readng: (sorry for the legth)
I saw her at a party in college but could not get the nerve to talk to her. I literally stared at her for almost a year. Her and her friends referred to me as "the scary bald guy" . The next semester one of her friends who was dating a buddy of mine told me that she wanted me to talk to her, but the only way should would is if I told her, "Hey groovy chick, you're really happening in a far out way." Apparently they watched Brady Bunch that day and she made some comment about how she would swoon for any guy that told her that:lol: Well that night at another party all these guys that knew her were going up to her and telling her, I didn't know this. Anyway she finally just walked up and stood next to me....you guessed it, I didn't say a damn thing:cry: just stood there looking at my drink. She turns to me and says, "So are you ever going to talk to me?" and yep, you know what I said then, "Hey groovy chick, you're really happening in a far out way"...I'm such a tool. so we talk for a minute and says she wants to get together somtime.
Next night we are having a bbq at our house and I'm sitting in by one of the 3 phones in this huge 75man house for 30 min trying to get the nerve to call her (ya, you figured out I'm not good with the ladies). I pick up the phone and start dialing when a buddy walks by and says, "you know she is going to say 'no' right?" I slam down the phone. Another 30min go by and I finally call her, she agrees to come over but only if she can bring a friend(not what you're thinking here) cause she doesn't know anyone from my house. She comes over and we spend the next 12hours talking on the couch...ype, all night. She goes home for some stuff and I go to Baseball practice...she comes back and we stay up another night talking...she leaves and we both finally catch a nap. that was 10 years ago, been married for 6 and half of them.

 Actually, he remembers most of the details as well.... Such as the fact that it was "my" pub we went to, and yet he and the bartenders were ganging up on me, picking on me, etc... all night.
And we had like a Metallica-fest that night, selecting every Metallica tune from the jukebox... until he chose "I love this bar" by Toby Keith... I tried to wrestle him away from the jukebox to prevent him from playing it, but he won, and that became "our" song... We joke that we'll play it at our wedding (and sadly, we probably will)

Back _Marker 10-05-2006, 10:08 AM I was messed up during my college days. My buddies and I were not gentlemen. We often gang banged during the week ends. There was a group of high school chicks that were easy. After being passed around, I decided to ask one of the sluts to marry me.
It was a shaky marriage. But 15 years and 4 kids later, we're still going strong.

okay, more detail:
I joined up with my buddies at a rocky horror picture showing. The usual group of friends and sluts were there. This was in the winter in Ohio and after the show, I was doing reverse donuts in the parking lot on my Honda CRXsi.
We all met up at a friends bachelor pad and a party started. Eventually, clothes started falling off and an orgy persued.
My only concern was how long can I last. After shooting my load on the 3rd slut, I asked her if she wanted to get married. She said OK.
The following day, I asked her to dinner at Red Lobster. Then I proposed again. She said yes, again. We set the date a few months after her High School graduation. The parents weren't too happy but it was a helluva party at the reception. 30 bikers and many of them had stripper girlfriends that came.
Reverse a few weeks ago. After another party/orgy, I took her home and I told her I loved her. She kinda freaked and walked away. I wasn't serious. I told every girl I've shacked up with that I loved her. But I really did mean it. I love alota girls. I've only known her for about a month.

Ok more details then:
We didnt date right away. We were just friends at first. I didnt have the nerve to ask her out. Then she threw a Christams party at her apartment. I caught her under the missletoe(sp?) and planted a huge kiss on her. Later that night sha asked me out on a date. Our first date was Christmas dinner at her parents house. Talk about being nervous. We went back te her aparment after dinner and consumated the relationship all night long. Almost 2 years later we were married.

itgirl25 10-05-2006, 10:23 AM i met my hubby at a club. i was supposed to slow dance w/one of my friends but when the song came on he hooked up w/another girl instead leaving me standing in the doorway by the dance floor. what did i do? i grabbed the nearest guy for a slow dance, which is now my hubby. after the dance was over, he insisted on talking to me for the rest of the night. he just kept going on and on...not letting me escape him. it's a good thing he did, because i may have lost interest in him if he didn't pursue me so hard. i was only 21 and feeling my oats a bit. but he was relentless. he visited me at work, etc. the clincher was on valentine's day. i gave him a card and he asked me out for dinner (until then we just saw eachother at clubs). i almost didn't go out w/him that night. i'm glad i did though because he gave me a gift that night...a 1 carat tennis bracelet!! i was in shock!! he barely knew me (only about a month). after that i decided he was a keeper.
about 5 months later he proposed to me, and i accepted. he was the only man i had met that treated me with so much respect. we hadn't even had sex until after he proposed to me. that's how i knew he really loved me. he was definately the man for me.
almost 9 years and still going...

smileyman 10-05-2006, 10:42 AM Well to be honest I meet my wife 'cause I was a cheap skate! I was club racing every weekend of my newly divorced life and hanging out with friends the rest. One weekend we were ATV riding and I was showing out, rolled the ATV at speed and hurt my neck bad. Didn't go to the ER but after a week the pain was making me curious about if it was broken or not. Then I see this ad for a chiropractic clininc that did free evaluation with X-Rays! I thought there would be no way a Chiro would adjust me if he saw a broken bone on the X ray so I signed up.
Guess what? The receptionist was hot! Her name was Penny and we carried on for about 6 months at the office visits. She wrote to me and we started sending letters every week. We had just gone through painful divorces (me 12 years of marriage, her 10) and even though we were feelin' the vibe we did not want to rush things, especially for her two kids. I got cold feet and told her I needed to date some more so we broke communications for about 3 months. I dated a couple of times but spent the whole time apart from Penny thinking of her. Even racing was no longer a distraction.
So I wrote her a note and sent her some flowers. She knew I worked out by biking and running at the lake so she meet me out there and we talked for hours. Then she picked me up on a Sunday for an early morning walk and we knew this thing we shared was worth more than any challenge could present. A couple of days later our poor effection starved bodies overcame our good sense and we made out. She looked me right in the eye and said "Are you going to break my heart?" It was consumated right there on the spot.
We have been darned near inseperable since 3-13-03. I proposed at Mt Nebo State Park that September and we married there March 13, 2004. One year later on March 13, 2005 our son Alex was born. We have faced more adversity in those 3 years than ever before but each challenge leaves us closer. Not a day goes by that I don't ask her again..."Will you marry me?"

psychochild28 10-05-2006, 10:47 AM I'm not the best story teller..... but here's the fairly shorthanded version....
Drewpy and I met freshman year of college, but we were both seeing other ppl. :bash: So we flirted a lil and hung out at parties and went on a random roadtrip and such. He had a huge crush on me. (i'll let him tell ya about that part to make this shorter)
Soph year we were both single. I had a new roommate who i didnt know and she didnt know hardly any one on campus. So the night she moves in drewpy comes down to my room a lil drunk and starts to move her stuff out of the room. he took everything that was in boxes out to the hallway and left it there...he even took her bed out there. :yikes: She looks at me with a look that says "who is this kid and make him stop!" So he finally quits and moves her stuff back in the room. She leaves to get more stuff from her car and he tackles me onto her bed and lays there holding me (not that i was complaing  ). He states the only way he'll move is if i go back to letting him hold me. So we move to my bed, and i guess he got the balls up to kiss me cause he did. :dthumb: but when he's done he squints and pulls away.... I asked him why he did that and he said he thought i was going to hit him for kissing me.....hehe. So that was when we started seeing each other. Now as for when we became offical that's still up for debate.... We had both drinking in a dorm room and left for some reason...still dont remember why. But on the way back to the room we somehow became official. So i go back in the room and right over to my best friend and whisper ."i think we're dating, but you're going to have to remind me in the morning because i'm drunk." A few minutes after that drewpy goes over to my best friend and says the exact same thing. So we have to ask my best friend now when our anniversary is.....

BravoX1 10-05-2006, 01:26 PM Hmmm. We'll i'm not married but its a possibility that i could marry her. I met her through a mutual friend. Now this is where the story gets really confusing. After a party i got her number and started to text message her and what not because i though she was one of the most beautiful girls i had seen. She pretty much didnt want anything to do with me for o i would say about a month. I kept persistent and eventually we went to a few parties and watched a few movies together. She came over a few times and we started to date. Well then the story takes a bad bad turn. Were still just dating and we end up ending up at the same party together. She brought a few friends from her hometown to the party....To make this part of the story short i end up hooking up with 2 of her friends that night, and trying to with her and she got mad left and didnt talk to me for about 2 months. Finally i got her to talk to me again me hung out and what not again. Then we did the deed and the relationship was on like donkey Kong. Weve been on and off for close to 2 years. Shes a really good girl and really trustworthy. I'm the only holdback in the relationship because i know she would marry me in an instant but i'm not ready for that and feel like i have many more years of being a "kid" So we'll see what happens and i know its a f'd up story but i guess i would tell you guys since you asked.
jeeps84 10-05-2006, 02:11 PM I was on a beer run with a friend. We stopped by some chicks house to invite his girl to the party later. I think it was their intention for her friend and I to meet. They both showed at the party. We dated through school and moved in together for a year before getting married. 14 years later, we have now gone our separete ways.

Well if there's a good story there, by all means, let's hear it!
1BadCBR 10-05-2006, 04:08 PM We actually met in a military school (leadership development school). When I first saw her I told my school roommate that I was going to marry her. Well, all the guys in class was trying to talk to her except me! I knew that she was going to turn them all down because what girl wants to be hit on every single say by the same people to no avail. We had a free weekend to leave the school on friday and be back on monday. Monday morning I show up with a hang over and for some reason, she just thought that was the funniest thing ever. You see, in military schools you have to march every where you go and I couldn't march worth of crap because I was still blazed from the night before. We starting talking to eachother and by the end of the school (30 days long) she realized that she likes me a little bit. Some of my friends were throwing a party for me upon graduation on the last day but Stacye (my wife) invited me to a party being thrown for her. Long story short, I blew my friends off to party with her........ We've been married for 10+ years now :dthumb:
Now if I can just get this cell phone thingy in control, we'll be ok.....

I'm j/k I'm not worried the lest bit.
can i just mention on the cell phone thing that it could all be a matter of territory? I am highly territorial of some things...not because I am cheating or would ever, merely because that is my personality type...for example...my office...i HATE it when people come in my office and dig through my files, move my stuff around or go through my emails, not because they hurt anything, merely because it makes me feel violated...i am the same with my cell phone...now, if you ask me to get into my office or look at my cell phone i dont care...but when you take it upon yourself to help yourself-1)that does appear very nosy 2)its a good way to make me flip out!!

:iagree: Purse, cell phone, etc... = private. Doesn't mean there's anything to hide, but even an established/married couple is entitled to have some privacy.
(on that same token, I don't go through Chris' phone, wallet, bedtable, etc... that's HIS private stuff. And not that I think he'd object if I did, but there's just no NEED to. I respect his privacy).

Exactly!!! It is all about the respect!! And trust!! I have huge trust issues, i.e., if you dont trust me, then there IS NO RELATIONSHIP, game over...please play with someone else!! if you love and respect me, you will stay outta my stuff, if you snoop, that tells me you dont trust me...i think this should all be in that other thread tho...

:iagree: Yup....
And following the crap my LAST boyfriend did to me, it was hard to trust again. BELIEVE ME... I jumped Chris's ***** more than a few times when he didn't deserve it, and he finally would say to me, "I'm not Jeff... I didn't do that stuff to you..." Luckily, it finally sunk in, and it's been fine ever since! :dthumb:

Your in the groove and the confidence and trust is all there again.

R1up0n1 10-06-2006, 09:31 AM Well I'm not married yet, but I know I will be in a couple years to the one I'm with now.
I met her brother earlier this year while we were riding in a big group. I started to hang out with him almost everyday, and go out for a ride after work.
He never told me he had a sister....but his sister asked him if he rode with any "hot guys" and he told her no, and I don't look at guys. Well he has NEVER let any of his friends date his sister, but he said well....maybe there is one. So she sent me an email. We chatted back and forth for a few days then we finally met, and we just clicked so perfectly. So all is well and we're are both so happy.

hmm probably.....I don't remember. She is on myspace page...there is a slide show of us.
R1up0n1 10-06-2006, 10:24 AM Awwwww... you must be a good guy if he actually let you anywhere near his sister! :dthumb:
I am a good guy.....and I know it. She has realized I'm not some A-hole guy. She has been in a few bad relationships in the past...which so have I, but she dated a guy for 6 years and he didn't want to have kids or get married any time soon so she had to let him go.....there were other problems with their relationship too.
I am a very picky guy I guess, and I thought I'd never meet anyone. A lot of things I have to look for in a woman is their personality, their family----that I have to like, and even their goals in life and education background. I can't date a bum or someone that's not going anywhere in life.
This one has everything going for her. She has a 4 yr. double major in political science and a minor in education from IUP, she works as an admisistrative assistant for a state rep. and even her dad is a state rep himself....so she comes from a political family I guess. I know she will be even more successful in life and probably make a lot more money than me in the long run....but she has worked hard for it.
All that matters is we are both happy, and we both have goals set in place for the future.
neebelung 10-06-2006, 10:29 AM All that matters is we are both happy, and we both have goals set in place for the future.
Exactly. And it sounds like you're both well on your way toward reaching all of that together.

I think so too....however we've only been together for almost two months....we'll see what the future holds...I've got a damn good feeling about this one tho. I swear we're soul mates.
There's not a day that goes by that when I wake up every morning and think how I can't wait for her to be my lovely wife.
