smileyman 10-06-2006, 09:29 AM So apparently there are alot of us that love to chat and post on forums...Why do you do it?:idk:
Ok my situation is that I work in an isolated bank branch in a town of about 800. Witty and intellectual conversation is a little rare especially on topics I like (motorcycles, sports ect.) To make things worse I am the only male out of 13 employees and the youngest (at 36 gasp:yikes: )
Therefore i look to the internet to supply 90% of my daytime commeraderie and entertainment...I post on at least 2 forums per day and check the threads 3 or 4 times a day to "catch up". I do get a kick out of the different perspectives and enjoy hearing others witty and sometimes admittedly inane banter as they try and express themselves. I also like getting caught up quickly on breaking news in the topics and info from others experiences. Sharing your 1st person experiences helps you research and decide on lots of things from insurance to gear, riding technique to what to ride, ect...
So be honest, Why are you here?
marko138 10-06-2006, 09:32 AM Kills time. It's entertaining...and now I'm a mod.
It's also a good place to get motorcycle information.:twfrox:

:iagree:
I'm on dozens of forums, but active on about 4 (and a mod on 2... amusingly, neither of those two are boards I post much on anymore). I'm in a boring office, and on the phone all darn day, so this keeps me entertained. That, and I do love riding, so it's nice to chit-chat with others who share my passion.
The people here kick ass. I gots a desk job too, so it helps blow some time to smitherines. Plus, I wouldn't have tight ass pics if it wasn't for this place.

That too.
Back _Marker 10-06-2006, 09:38 AM I think most of us are online at work. When we lost internet connection for a day, everyone at work started roaming around the hallways and spent less time in their cubicles.
Our internet access is unrestricted, so I spend most of my time cleaning out spyware remotely. I have 4 monitors and I leave one for my web use and the others are remotely cleaning other machines. I have fallen asleep from time to time on my desk.

Well...we won't hold that against you...
I enjoy it because I get to converse with people literally from around the world...we all have different backgrounds, ethnicity, religious and political views...and the forums allows us to interact...without someone bleeding...
I have learned many things from people on the 'net...some good...some...well...:skep:
I have gotten to know some on here well enough that when we get to meet, we could sit down and converse in such a way that people around us would think we were old friends...I like that.
I have also come to truly understand what my Grandpa meant when he told me, "Before you start telling someone how stupid they are...you better look down and see where your feet are."

Well put...
I started off on here because I finally found a bike forum where you could mention the word 'Harley' and 'sportbike' in the same post without getting publically flogged... Ribbed a little, yeah, but that's to be expected...
Then before I knew it (less than 5 days) I became a resident :whore: because I really started enjoying the people... Wrecking my ankle and being forced off it for 6 weeks helped too... Unlike most, I :whore: on my time between work/school and riding...
upshift 10-06-2006, 01:50 PM 1. It gives me something to do when im bored.
2. Cool people to chat with.
3. When I do get a bike ill have somewhere to talk about it.
Thats about all I get on here for.
Oh yeah :twfrox:
drewpy 10-06-2006, 01:54 PM Well put...

it gives me a place to :whore: between riding and sleeping.. and school work:cursin:
King Bob 10-06-2006, 08:33 PM I'm here because I like the people, many different views/opinions on different matters, and most of all :whore: :whore:
that, and I've actually learned a bunch of stuff here, without being ripped a new A hole in the process of asking slightly dumb questions.
fatburg 10-06-2006, 09:17 PM great knowledge base is why I started here. Then slowly got to know people better and better. This is the only forum I'm active on really. Keeps me away from work. And surprisingly enough, this is a fairly like minded community unlike most forums.
I'm really hoping to be able to do the deal's gap trip next summer and meeting some folks in person.
TATER 10-06-2006, 09:59 PM Well, I like the people... if i ask a question even one that may have been asked twice in a month i dont get the typical...
USE THE SEARCH BUTTON A$$HOLE...
i get an answer or a link to the thread that the answer is in... also I like the "newbie to experienced rider" ratio... I love to help those that might not know as much as me and i like to get help from those that know more then me...
Sw1fter79 10-06-2006, 11:02 PM I'm on here because I finally bought a bike , first bike first time riding, and I wanted to get more information about riding and motorcycles. I've come to find out that riders help riders and that the barrier between Harleys and crouch rockets is disapearing. My first few rides where with Harleys and cruisers. I've searched for other forums but they seem to be out dated, meaning that the posts are old. I found this forum and stopped searching for other forums. Also, it helps to pass time when I'm at work.
Sw1fter79 10-06-2006, 11:03 PM Is there anyone in here from SoCal? I've noticed that almost everyone is east coast.
TATER 10-06-2006, 11:48 PM i think she is from the west coast

itgirl25 10-07-2006, 08:30 PM i post here because i lack communication in my marriage and this helps fill the void.
but seriously...i stumbled across this place when searching for motorcycle related stuff. i figured i'd register and give a little shout out, but it would go no further. i'm not the type of person to chat w/strangers on the internet. well, after reading and responding to a few posts i got hooked! it's like an addiction. i love all the people on here, how friendly and intelligent they are (and good looking as well  ). this place has caused a bit of a strain on my marriage since i signed up, can you believe my husband is jealous of all the time i spend talking to you folks?! but i am still here...so you see where my priorities lie. :dthumb:
thank god for TWF!! :twfrox:
griffter911 10-07-2006, 08:34 PM i like the people. it is one of the few forums i visit that i can say whats on my mind and no one flames me for it.
 i love you guys:cry:

Knight 10-07-2006, 09:20 PM I post here because I'm irresponsible. There are always a dozen other things that I should be doing.
Like right now: I should be 1) Mowing the lawn 2) writing essays for my graduate school applications 3) washing my clothes so I can stop wearing dirty ones 4) putting the ketchup from dinner back into the refrigerator 5) studying for my advanced stats class 6) washing the SV 7) organizing my tools in the garage 8) finding my wife a birthday present 9) figuring out how the hell I'm going to get my car from the carpool lot (I have 0 friends in ann arbor to ask for help) 10) getting groceries so I can eat this weekend 11) researching a paper on hyperrealism and its relation to marketing 12) did I mention the ketchup is still sitting on the couch next to me?
But instead of doing those things I sit down at my computer, open firefox, and have an 8-10 motorcycle related pages going.
griffter911 10-07-2006, 09:23 PM (and good looking as well  ).
aw shucks.

oldetymebiker 10-07-2006, 10:37 PM I like this board because there seems to be little confrontation....except for my one brush with the infamous Wal-Mart thread, there seems to be hardly ANY flaming. I had been part of a sport-touring board for a while, but A LOT of posters got in everybody's face about EVERYTHING. So I stopped posting there, and found this board through the TWT link. Seems most folks here are pretty laid back about most things. But there seems to be some commonality, like a seriousness about riding and skill development and a willingness and desire to share experience.
And the "atmosphere" is very positive and friendly.
I know I have a tendency to be pedantic and overbearing at times,:sorry: and you folks even tolerate that!
Thanks!
Captain Morgan 10-08-2006, 04:02 AM I like to keep up on things bike-related; check out vids, pics and info about other's bike choices and riding styles; and generally just chat with some good folks. Unfortunately, everytime I come here, I regret having sold my bike. One day, I will have another. I hope it will be in the upcoming year, but no promises yet.
jeeps84 10-08-2006, 11:49 AM To make things worse I am the only male out of 13 employees and the youngest (at 36 gasp:yikes: )
So what's the problem?
I was invited to this forum by Need4Speed. When I checked it out. I found lots of useful information and a friendly bunch that just love to talk bikes. I got off to a slow start while posting on other forums and just lurking here. Then I started replying to others here and never looked back. I even do it on my free time. I don't have a desk job. :nonod: I'm a member on several other forums and rarely post on any off them now. I find everything I need right here.
