As they have in other cities where similar protests have gone on, the Patriot Gaurd will be here tommorrow to support the family of our fallen soldier:
http://patriotguard.org/Forums/tabid/61/forumid/11/postid/291175/view/topic/Default.aspx
For any of you who can make it, a group of us is meeting at the Gate Gas Station, located on Southside Blvd. at Touchton Road (near Tinseltown) at 10:00 a.m. tomorrow morning to meet up with the Patriot Riders at FCCJ.
Anyone who can make it up, please do. If you need more info or directions, post up or PM me.
Rider 11-10-2006, 12:57 PM That just makes me sick. I wish I could be there in support of the soldier.

ok, I'm about to make some phone calls and see if I can round up some of my riding friends. Most of them are gone out of town this weekend because of a four day weekend for Veterens day.

Hey, even if it's just you and the wife, the more support the better.
I guess the Patriot Guard is asking that everyone bring and/or wear flags as well, so I'm making a run on the way home to pick up some flags. Let me know if you need me to pick up a couple extras.

I'm not sure who all's meeting at our house, but from there we'll be meeting up with our local group (NFSBA)... I expect probably 20 or so will meet up there... maybe more. It's posted on both of the local forums, and people are pretty fired up about it, so who knows.

OneSickPsycho 11-10-2006, 02:39 PM I recommend taking signs...
Didn't Jesus say, "Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone."?
I thought Christians were supposed to be good people
I would probably get arrested there... I don't think I could contain myself in the presence of such lunacy.

Nah, no need to add to the drama. We'll just go out with our flags and quietly support the family.
The supposed Christians will get what's coming to them at a later date...(something far worse than what we could ever do/say to them)

neebelung 11-11-2006, 02:42 PM WELL..... 1Bad and I played tag all day.... Dunno if he ever made it to the event, but I hope he did so, and safely.
As for the event itself... HOLY COW. I still have goosebumps. Today was seriously one of the most amazing shows of community support and patriotism I've seen in a long, long time. There were 35 bikes when we left our meeting spot ... mostly sportbikes, two cruisers, couple of sport tourers. Along the way, we had other riders join the group, so we were probably about 45 strong as we roared through downtown Jacksonville to the Church.
Once we arrived, we were :yikes: to see HUNDREDS of bikes and riders all proudly waving American flags, as well as several engines from the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue, and even Gainesvlle F.D. (they brought a big crane truck, and hanging from it was a huge American flag). It was absolutely awe inspiring. Several news crews were out there as well.
Shortly after we arrived, they instructed all of us with flags (I bought 8 medium sized flags, and 16 smaller ones, and some of our other friends had fullsize 3'x5' flags as well) to line both sides of the street to the church, where we stood for about an hour until the family and police escort came through. After the family's procession came through, it was absolute silence.... Never have I witnessed such a large group of people standing utterly silent for so long. While I don't have an exact idea of how many people were there, one of the organizers said he lost count at 650 bikes.
For another hour or so, we waited out with the bikes, and eventually staged up to ride to the cemetary (the procession consisted of the police escort, then the bikes, then the family). A few people in our group somehow managed to secure huge flagpoles to their bodies/bikes, while many of us had smaller flagpoles down the backs of our jackets, flags flying in the breeze behind us.
The ride to the cemetary was right at 7.5 miles, at 10 mph or less. When I said it was amazing, that doesn't even begin to describe it. EVERY side street and intersection was blocked off by a fire truck, police car, or police bike. When we'd pass a fire station, all the fire fighters stood outside, hand on heart, or saluting. People going the other direction as well as from businesses along the way stood outside waving, saluting, waving their flags and taking photos of the procession (which seriously, went on as far as the eye could see). We even had a short stretch of freeway, and every onramp was blocked, people out of their cars waving and standing in awe of the procession.
Once we arrived at the cemetary, several of us broke off and headed out. While I was glad to be there in support of the fallen soldier, I felt like the actual burial was something sacred that should be for his family, only.
All in all, a really amazing day.... one of the Patriot Guard Ride leaders came to us as we were staging up for the procession and said he's never had a group of sportbikes come out to support one of their missions, and he was really pleased to have us there. He also said that in the last two days since they announced today's event, membership in Jacksonville has spiked sharply.
Oh, and the protesters? Yeah, they didn't show up.
I've got pictures... once I cool off and get the ones from some friends, I'll post some up. :dthumb:

thirdgenlxi 11-11-2006, 06:15 PM Wow looks like quite an event! I'm glad to hear all went smoothly and the protestors never showed up (people like that make me sick!!), and that the family was able to get the proper funeral services that they and everyone else is entitled to without any drama
That just brings tears to my eyes, i am sitting here reading this and wanting to bawl, for the awesome-ness of everyone of yall pulling together and stepping up and for the wrongness of those ppl who think its okay to desecrate a funeral!! Good Job Nee!! If I hadnt had to work and had known in advance, I so woulda been there!! thanks for all the pics!
Gas Man 11-11-2006, 11:30 PM I've been to a few of these... its hard to see but it makes such a difference to the family to see that type of great and patriotic support!

Went to J'ville, meet Nee (beautiful person inside and out), her husband and her friends....had a wonderful time, drank a few beers and came on back to GA!
Version II
Went to J'ville, played tag all day with Nee, her husband and her friends. Finally made it to where everything was at. All the streets are one way streets. Went down a street to get to where everything was going on and a car made a right turn onto a one way street (I was going the right of way) in my path, I swerved to the right and was cliped by another car. I fell on my left side, injured my wrist, broke the shield on my helment, was taken to the Memorial Hospital and then transferred to NAS Jacksonville (military hospital on base). Wrist was x-rayed (sprang, not broken) and a plastic cast was put on it. Was given a weeks supply of 800mg of motrin and to have my wrist look at once I make it back to GA. I made it back to GA late last night, wife came to pick me up, bike is still in Flordia at a friends house who was riding with me at the time. No charges are being filed because the car that was going the wrong way never stopped!

Not that much to really worry about. Broken clutch lever and some road rash on the left side. The frame slider took most of the damage. I'm suppose to go back to FL this weekend to pick up my bike but my friend said not that the bike won't start. I hope it's nonthing major.
