I doubt it... I'm sure it catches them by surprise, as I'm sure they don't hear it often, but I'm sure it makes them feel good.

No one ever thanked me when I was in. It would have made me feel more appreciated, although I was in the first gulf war and it was not nearly as big of a deal as the current gulf war.

It was plenty as big of a deal. The media just didn't sensationalize the public response as much.
