I am sick and tired of this PC happy holidays BS. When I wish some one merry Christmas I am not saying ‘ you must be like me and celebrate the same holiday as I do’ I am saying ‘this is what I celebrate, I wish you good cheer’. I have no issues with someone telling me happy Hanukah or what ever. But happy holidays seems like such a blanket white wash of what the season should be…. Marketing. Grrrr Who else is sick of this PC BS?

Merry Christmas to EVERYONE!!! I dont like to offend people but i consider being offensive to be telling someone they are complete friggin idiot or some such, NOT wishing them a Merry Christmas...i will however go out of my way to say MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone who wishes me a "happy holiday"... actually it is really sad nowadays, did you know that the people at the stores who wish you happy holidays HAVE to say that or they will lose their jobs??!! i talked with a greeter at Wally world last year, one of those sweet old people and when he said HH, i said MC and he said it back! i was so shocked i asked why he didnt say it in the first place and he told me that he could get fired, but he says it anyway to those who say it to him! I will say, I'm seeing a backlash against the PC/anti-God thing lately. More and more people I deal with in business are closing conversations with things like "God Bless," or "Have a blessed day" (I hear that one a lot on people's outbound voicemail messages lately). And there was a woman at the anti-protest the other day who literally went around to every person there, shaking their hand, wishing them a Happy Veteran's Day, and telling them "God Bless You." It was very sweet.... she was very warm and genuine.

Ahh, the prayer in school thing I'm not so fond of. Prayer is great, but I think it's more appropriate if it's done at home with one's family rather than at school. I do believe in the separation of Church and state, and that's a perfect example of it. I just think if you've got some kids praying, and others not, it's just another way for kids to segregate themselves, and ridicule one another. Being a kid in school is hard enough without having to throw in religious slurs to the mix.

I see what you are saying about the other kinds of prayer tho...there were certain groups/clubs perhaps, like FCLA ( i think thats it) or the one time a year that students can gather around the flagpole...its some special day...BUT these activities in no way harm or cause others to feel bad, nor do they make people go, its not a requirement...if you dont want to go, DONT! i dont know that we ever had a problem with ridiculing other students for these things, we had them when i was in school and while i had very many christian friends, i was severely anti-God...and they didnt bother me in the least... but kids today are so different i can see what you mean...

Thats Gary Hoey. I stand corrected and I suck at life! whooo back the blame train up a bit here. I am atheist but what I am saying is I hate people trying to be pc by changing tradition to make it seem like there not excluding any ones personal beliefs. The PC movement is not atheist or any other one denomination trying to white wash America, or trying to phase out a certain religion, it’s a bunch of individuals (mostly with corporate backing) that have gritty kitties that hate the idea of some on being offended by something. SO WHAT? Let them be offended, its a lot less time and hassle for one person to say ‘I cant stand that’ than for every one to have to change what they say and have to walk on egg shells around others not to offend them. That’s what I have issues with. I don’t mind the pledge of allegiance or currency carrying the name of god on it because the people that created and adopted those things believed in that... and that’s cool. Prayer in school to me seems a bit silly. If it has been part of the curriculum since the beginning, then so be it. but if you are not going to a religious school, its a waste of freaking time and there fore money to include it all of a sudden. And if your child is so feeble minded that they get confused about religion then they prolly don’t have the close minded mentality it takes to be a devout _________. As far as businesses go I personally go out of my way to avoide places that advertise that they are a certent denomination. I don’t give a **** if your Christian, clean my freaking gutters :cursin: I personally feel that those type of places make a point of mentioning that sort of thing to drum up more business.
