Brubaker didn't arrest Raap, who had a valid Colorado license, but told him to drive straight home and call him within an hour. Raap's mother, Cindy Raap, called instead and Brubaker told her what happened.

At least my parents were cool enough that all I had to do was call them and say, "I'm running late." There answer was, "okay, just be careful." And this was LONG before the days of cell phones. I just had to stop at a payphone and call, no big deal. They just wanted to know I was at least on my way home and not out in a ditch somewhere. | |
