Should old threads be left alone? Post arguments here.

Okay, here is my stance: I think that just because a thread is old, it is not necessarily worthless. Sure, some of the ones I dug up were completely pointless, but a few still have merit today. This forum had very few members in the beginning (two and a half years ago), so many valid threads did not get the full discussion they would get today. Therefore, they are stuck on the back pages buried under piles of worthless threads. I personally see nothing wrong with bringing an old thread up if it has some value to discussion on the forum. Others disagree. So, post your thoughts here in this poll.

I'm still pretty new- the old threads don't bother me. I'm sure there are alot that I missed that I would have gained good info from.

Depends if it's still relevant, and actually has content to it. But I don't necessarily see the need to revive them just for the sake of bringing them to the top of the page again. If there's a particular topic someone wants info on, the search button works great. :idk:

Depends what kind of post. If it is a post that actually has some information in it, and someone brings it back up for a question or reminder, then that is fine, but if someone starts posting in a year old thread that was all post whoring in the first place, well, thats just more senselessness.

They still have worth. The other one you brought back was some good info. The one where that one dude was asking what bike to get (back in '04) was worthless though.

:whore: Not the right place for that, but hey...it happens. The reason why I decided to become a member was because I read a lot of the mechanical threads in the maintenance section. I actually learned a lot. I scanned over them for a while before I actually became a member.

i think old threads are great IF someone brings it up to post a relevant question or update in it. then it serves a purpose. but i don't really wanna see any "what do i want for dinner" threads dredged up. those are worthless. let's face it...most questions people post have already been asked before, so it is bound to happen if someone searches. that is permissable. :dthumb:

I think most of the past threads that have good info are already stickies. Some of the "Which Bike?" threads could come in handy for the newbies whats the point of reviving a thread to show a newb what bikes are good to start on and which ones arent? We all like to :whore: and just giving out info again and again is a good and legit way to :whore:...:2cents:

uhhh...cool?:idk: Either a :whore: post or is there some hidden meaning to old threads behind this? thought it would make sense without an explanation... for those that dont get it- Of course old threads are good. For the same reason some old music is good. If they are resurected they prevent reposts and countless post whores screaming "REPOST" They also give new people a chance to see things that have been discussed before that may have been beneficial to them. Most threads that are resurected deserved to be resurected. The others fade into oblivion.
