We finally replaced the bedroom TV with this TV. So far, I've been really happy with it. Standard definition leaves a little to be desired, but it still looks better than the old 150 lb 32" CRT TV we had! Got it on sale for $897. http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/LCDTV/images/b2c_m_lns3238.jpg LN-S3238D 32" Wide HDTV w/Integrated ATSC Tuner (http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/LCDTV/LNS3238DXXAA.asp) Samsung's LN-S3238D is the perfect answer for the savvy technophile who demands the highest quality – and value – in a wide screen HDTV LCD. nice. I was thinking about getting an HDTV, but I'll prolly wait till HD programming is more widespread/cheaper.

SDTV looks bad on most HDs, that's not surprising. I hate watching SD anyway.

Samsung puts out good HDTV's. I got a Sharp, 26" LCD HDTV in my bedroom. I don't have HD cable in my bedroom, but I do have my Xbox 360 hooked up to it, with the HD DVD attatchment, and it's lovely. Once you go HD, you can never go back. And the regular stations suck watching after you experience HD. :dthumb:

I have satellite which means if you want HDTV you have to buy a whole other box which is expensive as hell. :wbs: another annoying thing is that I hooked up the satellite receiver to my surround sound system but nothing ever comes in DD surround sound.

Obviously, being the admin pays better than a mod. But seriously, I just don't need all of that in the bedroom. I have a Sylvania LCD 15" with built in DVD player. Its pretty nice and I paid just under $300 for it at Sam's Club. (http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=334186) http://graphics.samsclub.com/images/products/0005381868039_LG.jpg Specs: Screen Size: 15” LCD TV Resolution/Contrast Ratio: Pixel resolution: 640 x 480 (VGA) Contrast ratio: 500:1 Brightness: 450 cd/m2 Tuner: 181 CH PLL tuner Tuner auto set MTS/SAP tuner Inputs/Outputs: Video input x 1 S-video input x 1 Audio input x 2 Headphone jack Special features: 3-line digital comb filter Natural color matrix circuit Natural scene clear circuit Response time: 15 ms DVD Player: Slot-in mechanism DVD/ CD-R / CD-RW playback Search (x2, x4, x20, x50 x 100) Slow Fwd/Back Zoom (1.3x, 2x, 4x) Virtual surround system Looks great on a DVD but like Shan says... feeding standard cable tv into isn't the greatest... but its small and doesn't take up much space.

I bought a 62" Samsung DLP 1080p - and a Klipsch surround sound system w/ a 650 watt 12" downfiring sub. Dude, there is no reason to go to the theater anymore. Movies are so much better now! Especially with the sound- up till now I had a 27" inch POS, that would get hot and just go blank- which now is the bedroom TV.

i recently purchased an HDTV flat panel as well. question is, do you prefer to stretch the normal TV aspect ratio or settle for the black side bars? or zoom in and lose the top and bottom portions? i notice certain cable programing is setup for zooming. i wish HDTV's can automatically adjust for these settings. -a|ex

It makes people look short and fat, but hey most of America is like that anyway.

I use bars if I have to watch SD, the blur of zoom hurts my head. The short fat people would be second. I don't watch SD hardly at all though.

:iagree: I can't stand the side bars.... besides if its something good it will be in HD and correct aspect as well as DVD's set up in correct aspect too! not all DVDs, some of the heavy visual movies will use a wider aspect ratio than 16x9 and you will actually get horizontal bars. I believe letterbox widescreen is 2.35:1, for people who hate math 16:9 = 1.7777777777778:1

Even the Samsung DLP commercials in HD are better than, say, a HD broadcast on Fox or something. I recently added the HD DVD player to my Xbox 360. Best thing ever! I hate SD sh*t now. If nothing good is on HD cable, I usually won't fu*k with the SD sh*t, unless GP, AMA or WSBK is on SPEED.
