Slowly he is creaping on Bush. :luck: kanwisch 11-03-2004, 08:17 AM Votes for 3rd parties are not votes for those candidates, because they will never win. A vote has far more value than for the individual you're voting for. You're actually making a strategic comment about the status of things, and really a vote for the Repubs or Dems is a vote for the status quo. And its even far less likely to include 3rd party "crazy" concepts like legalization of drugs or complete gov't takeover of industries.
You can say those other parties don't fit you better than the mainstream two, but I'd bet big money you don't even know the basis of their platforms, much less the minor-major points. It wasn't until this year that I decided to become more informed about all the major players because of my disgust with both Hitler and Stalin, so I was in your shoes prior to 9/11/01.
There's an awesome article on the concept of 3rd party voting: Tactical Voting Can Be a Weak Strategy
http://emptymoat.blogspot.com/2004/07/tactical-voting-can-be-weak-strategy.html. The point is, thinking big picture is really all that's left since the two parties are so close together now. A vote for a 3rd party is a vote for change in the mainstream two. During the 50s, a Socialist candidate (I can't remember his name) said he stopped running for office because his entire platform had been subsumed by the mainstream two over a number of years. That's what I want.
Just consider those points, and realize I'm not trying to make any blanket statements about you. After all, I was in the same spot not too long ago. CrunchieJD 11-03-2004, 10:12 AM 5:38AM AND NOT IT IS bUSH 269(STILL) AND kERRY 238. Slowly he is creaping on Bush. :luck:

Arafat actually endorsed him. lol John 11-04-2004, 11:20 AM Arafat actually endorsed him. lol
That is true. kanwisch 11-04-2004, 11:24 AM OBL, and the French wanted to vote for kerry too.
 Even the Arafat comment was great! Heck, you might as well throw in Helmut Kohl into that pile of supporters too :) Pigface1 11-04-2004, 11:25 AM  Even the Arafat comment was great! Heck, you might as well throw in Helmut Kohl into that pile of supporters too :)
Too bad Pol Pot's not still around, I'm sure he would have volunteered too. lol kanwisch 11-04-2004, 11:33 AM Too bad Pol Pot's not still around, I'm sure he would have volunteered too. lolSpeaking of him, what about that North Korean leader.... Kim Jong-Il. That SNL dating skit of him was hilarious
But you gotta admit the Iranians were pulling for Bush. The religious leadership has an easier time painting us as evil with Bush in office than would have been the case with Kerry. Not many others I can think of that would fall into this category. Pigface1 11-04-2004, 11:37 AM I have some Iranian buddies, they don't know what to think. They know their country is a wreck, and they know everyone won't have a group hug and get it over with. It's going to be interesting.
Kim Jong Il.. lol Speaking of, I'm going to see Team America tonight. :here: kanwisch 11-04-2004, 11:40 AM Pigface1 11-04-2004, 11:41 AM I think Kim Jong gets it on with a dog, or a donkey, or some ****. lmao Violet 11-04-2004, 12:05 PM I voted, but it didn't matter. Kerry did win California though.
Are all of you guys some kind of right-wing whackos? :here: :here:
actually, i'm of two-minds about the whole thing generally. i'm a conservative right-wing whacko fiscally but, on the other hand, i'm a bleeding-heart, pinko-commie, tree-huggin' liberal from the left, socially.
you'd think that would be tough, but it's really not. and.. my doctor says as long as i keep taking my meds, i'll be fine. :dthumb:
bwaah hah hah hah hah hah hah haaa... :smash:
the thing is, i vote with my checkbook. ergo, W it was this time. Pigface1 11-04-2004, 12:18 PM Winston Churchill said if you're 20 and not a liberal, you have no heart. If you're 40 and you are a liberal, you have no brain.
You're ahead of the curve, Vi. lol
It's pretty sad how many people are misled by the New York Times, and how many people are misled by the media on the left coast. It's obvious they don't know what they're doing. Hell, California was in the top 5 most lucrative economies in the WORLD, and yet they still found a way to f' it up and go bankrupt. So, they bring in a Republican from Austria to clean up the mess.
Sooner or later you'd think the limosine libs in Hollywood would stfu and stop misleading people with their mountains of bull****, and actually try and do some good for a change. Hell, help to raise the $3.2 billion California needs asap for stemcell research. But, that won't happen.. they'd rather sit around in their electric cars and bitch.
The country is split b/c of people like that.
CCB had a great post on CF yesterday. He was talking about when he was in college in 1984 and Reagan just got reelected. People were going crazy like they are now, "It's the end of the world," "Ronald Ray Gun is going to start a nuclear war, he's just a cowboy that used to act, and imcompetent moron, and he's going to get us all killed." During those years, the environment was crap. In 1992, it suddently became pristine. In 2000, it became crap again. ETC ETC ETC.
We need the libs so it actually appears we care about others in the world. But, they just don't need to be in power b/c they don't have a f'n clue. lol
With that said, I'm with you violet.. fiscally conservative, socially liberal. I voted against the gay marriage ammendment just b/c I have to do my part to piss off the religious right. Mudpuppy 11-04-2004, 12:26 PM I voted, but it didn't matter. Kerry did win California though.

Amen. I am SO far right that I can't even see the left anymore. In light of the ultra-liberal facist pinko-commies that live in the West and East Coast now the MP Master Plan has a clear cut path and those states will be dissolved from the union when I take over as leader of the free world - please see the Fox 2 or ABC map for reference - Any state in Red, i.e. for Bush, will remain part of the United States and any state in Blue, i.e. for the bumbling moron Kerry, will be dissolved from the Union - NY first and California second.
Now if you will excuse me I have to go kill some animals on my way back from my oil tycoon meeting while chewing tobacco and carrying automatic weapons. Peace, out. Same here, right after I bang my sister and take a banjo lesson. Violet 11-04-2004, 12:39 PM hicks huh? hmmm... that's an interesting, if idiotic, observation. clicky... clicky >>>

Pigface1 11-04-2004, 02:48 PM I hear ya. . I had to vote for a Republican Senator here that I can't stand b/c of the simple fact I wanted to do everything possible to keep Daschle's power at a minimum. Turns out the good people of south dakota voted him out anyway.
As for conservatives wanting bigger gov't, I don't agree. The religious right wants in our bedrooms so to speak, however. In that case, they're so far right they're left.
That's not to say there's not some serious changes to be made.
I agree almost 100% with Schwartzenegger's views. Hopefully he can get the ammendment he needs to run for President, but I don't see it. I never dreamed I'd say that four years ago. lol Mudpuppy 11-04-2004, 07:29 PM Same here, right after I bang my sister and take a banjo lesson.
lol.. Me and my sister are deevorced - are we still brother and sister? I still bang her though.. kanwisch 11-05-2004, 10:09 AM lol.. Me and my sister are deevorced - are we still brother and sister? I still bang her though..
  My God, are all you people from north central Indiana? Pigface1 11-05-2004, 11:21 AM I'm from Oklahoma, but I didn't learn such things until I lived in San Diego. :D | |
