Votes for 3rd parties are not votes for those candidates, because they will never win. A vote has far more value than for the individual you're voting for. You're actually making a strategic comment about the status of things, and really a vote for the Repubs or Dems is a vote for the status quo. And its even far less likely to include 3rd party "crazy" concepts like legalization of drugs or complete gov't takeover of industries. You can say those other parties don't fit you better than the mainstream two, but I'd bet big money you don't even know the basis of their platforms, much less the minor-major points. It wasn't until this year that I decided to become more informed about all the major players because of my disgust with both Hitler and Stalin, so I was in your shoes prior to 9/11/01. The point is, thinking big picture is really all that's left since the two parties are so close together now. A vote for a 3rd party is a vote for change in the mainstream two. That's what I want. Just consider those points, and realize I'm not trying to make any blanket statements about you. After all, I was in the same spot not too long ago.
