NASA Retires Infamous Space Flight Simulator NASA's notorious "vomit comet" is now grounded. The plane took its final flight last Friday. The military transport was used to train astronauts for zero-G space flight. The vomit comet crew would fly a series of wild arcs, giving passengers a few seconds of weightlessness. But many inexperienced fliers also got airsick during the maneuvers. NASA crews estimate they've cleaned up at least 285 gallons of puke over the years. The old vomit comet will be replaced by a new C-9 jet transport next year. In keeping with NASA tradition, test director John Yaniac says the first person to puke in that plane will probably get a little commemorative plaque. :skep:
