Bonkers 02-20-2007, 02:18 AM Well Big K and I's friend just picked up his 1098S This friday.
Man all i got to say is WoW....
I thought my bike had wicked power..i was wrong ..that 1098 is just plain sick..
We took it up in the hill's to go ride around ..little rain but we still went...
That bike handles like mad..and the brakes are very very sweet...
He added pipes and stuff to it ..when i get a chance i will add those pics..
Anyhoot its very late ..i need some sleep

Yes.
Rider 02-20-2007, 11:09 AM Yes.
What is the waiting time on a 1098? I read on the 1098 forum that some dealers are all out of their 2007 allotment.

I think pretty much everyone is out at this point. We're in podunk nowhere and all 11 of ours are sold. I think some of the Cali dealers were sold out already a month ago. I'll bet the early-release 2008 models will be sold out just as fast this summer too.
Interesting tidbit: We threw a 1098s on the scales this week, it was 412 lbs. wet. We also weighted a 999s, it was 443 wet.
Big Kahuna 02-22-2007, 12:26 AM Yeah rain... ha, that's what you get for going out riding with out me Bonkers.
I got to spend some time with Adrian and his new 1098 on Monday. The bike is big, I mean even I fit on it. Bonkers 996 is too small for the Big Kahuna, but the 1098 fits me nice. I haven't ridden it yet, but I'd like to compare it to the new Repsol.

That sucks. I want a 1098 so freakin bad. I guess I need to go put a deposit down.
Double_R 02-22-2007, 09:09 AM yeah they already sold out the first week they came out here by my house...very nice lookin bike, i had a chance to see it a few days before its scheduled release cause he works at the dealer

Hell no. The forks are bent too. I would buy that for 100 bucks, just so I could throw it off a cliff and video tape it.

Big Kahuna 02-27-2007, 05:47 PM Bad weather over the weekend kept any of us from riding, but you can bet that next weekend we will get some good picks as it seems that the weather will be warm and clear. :)

yep and 24K for the Tricolor
marko138 03-16-2007, 07:38 AM yep and 24K for the Tricolor
I'll take one of each...
Rider 03-16-2007, 07:49 AM I'll take one of each...
If they were free I'd take the tricolor, but since they're not I'll go with the non s version. I dont need the Ohlins. Im not going to track it every weekend.
YZFR61ST 03-16-2007, 01:05 PM i'll take the s just to show it...lol... it's funny  why would they use a 180 then a 190 or what ever,.... maybe cuz of space!?!?!?
Bonkers 03-19-2007, 12:31 AM My 996 came with a 190 rear ..but the rim is just 5 1/2 so a 180 fits better ..
they where just tring to keep up with the jones and run a fater tire like the rest of the bike's out there .....
:bonk:

I'm still waiting for mine in 08 maybe Aug. This will be #3 for me. Nice 92ish vette btw, I have a 96.
elimental 07-03-2007, 02:35 PM there's a pretty 1098 a few blocks from my job. she's just sitting there out on the sidewalk of the dealership. I die a little every time i pass by cause god knows i cant afford it.
I have seen 4 very ugly 1098's all smashed to bits from encounters with a very mean dragon. It was like 4 weekends in a row too that 1 went down a weekend. Haven't heard of any recently getting bitten. They all seem to be taking it easy now.

Its a 94 thanks for the compliment.... I think my next bike might have to be a Duc
6doublefive321 07-05-2007, 12:40 PM I just read Sport Riders liter bike comparo, and they were pretty down on the 1098. I normally brush off bad reviews of euro bikes due to advertising bias, but the 1098's lap times sucked hind tit also. I for one was surprised and disappointed.

Aust Motorcycle News reported the 1098S's times around Eastern Creek as very respectable. The S also has the datalogging pack, and thats where they took the lap times from!
Rumour Alert!! AMCN also reported that 1200cc Twins will be eligible for WSBK in 2008. The article had a PR shot of Troy Bayliss leaning on a 1098, except the sticker said 1198. An extra 100cc's in 2008/09, anyone??
