drewpy 03-14-2007, 03:33 PM :idk: .... atleast my knee did, dragged my knee for the first time, and man is it a lot farther down then i thought, i went to the local chutch parking lot, (who knew they were good for something other then a highschool makeout session) and practiced my figure eightes until i felt the hard road under my new pucks. so between yesterday at one and now i have 400 miles and my first scuff on the pucks not a bad march day after all :dthumb:

Word! I highsided a pocketbike dragging knee in a p-lot. Damn gravel that blends in with pavement...
itgirl25 03-15-2007, 06:37 AM that's the kind of 'down' we like to hear about. good job! :dthumb:
drewpy 03-15-2007, 11:07 AM i thought it was pretty good title considering what happened before
drewpy 03-15-2007, 11:08 AM what surprised me was how much farther i had to go before touchdown, the only time i ever got that far over on the street was in Tn at the gap
smileyman 03-15-2007, 01:31 PM Next time you knee down at church say a little prayer for me too!:dthumb:
NONE_too_SOFT 03-15-2007, 01:36 PM i was flyin home last night and thought if i went down any further i'd get a knee down, but i was prolly way far from the way you talk about it .
When I use to rock jeans, I thought I was close at points. But once I got my 1-peice, I quickly realized how much farther away than I thought.
drewpy 03-24-2007, 11:04 AM the biggest surprise was how much room is really down there
the biggest surprise was how much room is really down there
:iagree: I was trying like hell, at speed, to get my knee down. My whole ass was off the seat and everything. Once I got it, it still took a while to become consistent at it. I don't have the balls to try it in a parking lot though.
kawi 636 03-24-2007, 11:30 AM wow ... was thinking we need to get you some trainning wheels
drewpy 03-24-2007, 09:57 PM i thought it was easier in a parking lot?
I got my left puck down at the hill today numerous times. Still working on the right. My right turns suck compared to my left. Seems to be a common problem with people I have discussed it with.
L48Shark 03-25-2007, 12:05 AM I got my knee puck down once. (While I was crashing.)

Add me to the "My right turns suck" club. My form is way off on my rights. Doesn't feel as natural as my lefts. Long sweepers are fine, but the slow, fairly sharp right turns get me.

Congrats dude & welcome to the addiction! :iagree: Nothing like 120mph with the sound of your puck louder than your exhaust! Once you go track.......you'll never look back!
I know you've seen alotta posts here at TWF concerning your knees.........(just a friendly reminder) the street is much less forgiving than your local church parking lot. Be careful, bro. :dthumb:
So what... now you are trying to be Chappy?

I'm actually better at right turns. My left is coming around...but I'm far better at Rights.

Knight 03-26-2007, 09:29 AM good work dude!! that's awesome. :dthumb:
Got the right puck on sunday, not real hard, but enough to say I got it down. I had to stop trying to kneedrag after like my 10th run of the day because I was pushing too hard and was really f'ing tired and took a turn way too fast and was in full lean dragging my left hard and almost didn't make it out of the turn. I went over the white and was straddling the edge of the road on exit. Scared the s**t out of me. I think Keith over at Killboy may have gotten a shot of it.

You were on the inside white line? You couldn't pick the bike up fas enough? Just trying to understand what you were saying.

Carried too much speed into the corner and couldn't lean any further since I was draggin knee and pegs. Came out almost too wide and ended up in the ditch. Quick sketch:

If he went into a left too hot, I think he means he was running wide and crossed the white line on the right side of his own lane, just where the pavement drops off. :idk:
On the other hand, if he ran wide to the white line entering a right turn too hot then he was really in deep chit!

Damn. Close! Nice sketch.
Stunt4Life 03-26-2007, 10:36 AM On the topic of right vs left corners: many motocrossers also suffer from that and the common reason why they think so is because you use the rear brake a lot in mx to change the geometry of the bike in the air, ground or corner. And on a right hand corner your foot is out and you cant use the rear brake.
Its just one of those things you just have to get over it, and learn to use the throttle and front brake though a corner

I use my rear brake on the dragon a total of 1 time (as do most people) and that is to reduce speed quickly to either stop at the store or the overlook otherwise it's not worth it. So, it's not that for me. Too many guys have gone down due to rear brake up there. I think it has more to do with your throttle on the right.
total times I applied the rear at the track. Zero.

Nice visual! Reps.
I once used a sattelite image (below) to illustrate to some fiends how I got suckered into a decreasing-radius, blind corner on a local, less traveled road and nearly highsided my 'Bolt when I panicked and locked up the rear tire. The arrow shows the direction of travel, and the X is where you realize that the gravel driveway ahead is not the road. The real road, meanwhile, appears to be heading off over your right shoulder at this point. Oh, and the X is also the point where your brain does this all at once: :here: :cursin: :willy: :bash: :damn:  :bas: :zowned: :luck:
(Overhead view doesn't do it total justice since it eliminates the obscurity due to the elevation changes.)

oh snap, google earth. I may have to seen if I can see my part on the dragon. Yeah, that would be confusing as s**t.
I marked which way I was traveling and the turn it happened and where keith was sitting. Unfortunately, it's not a high graphic part of google earth.

Read an article where Kevin Shwanz (sp) said that he had used his rear brake 3 times on the track. The reason he knew it was 3 times was because he crashed all 3 times.

Keep a look out for my blue SV with yellow stickers and say hi. I am usually riding with other SVs or a grey R1/blue R6 champions edition/yellow firebolt. I will be there saturday morning for a bachelor party. Probably will leave sometime in the afternoon.

Not real sure, too fast. That corner is really really tight, so probably should of been going somewhere near 35 and probably was going somwhere in the 40s.
