Its not bad looking at all...kind cool, atleast I think.. im too sure about that headlight setup though, or that windshield, or lack thereof.
pickle.of.doom 11-08-2004, 12:07 PM I think that is a very very very sweet looking bike. I am looking forward to seeing some mag articles pitting it against bikes like the SV1000 and the Z-1000 and such.
GSXR1000DJ 11-08-2004, 12:15 PM So I will be the first to say :puke: :puke: I am not liking anything on that thing. But thats me. :)
Need4Speed 11-08-2004, 12:18 PM if i was into BMW's more, i'd probably be all over this..but i think its kinda cool looking for a naked standard/sport type bike.
GSXR1000DJ 11-08-2004, 12:24 PM Aw its naked alright. It barely has headlights and a windscreen. :D
jetskifast 11-08-2004, 07:06 PM More I look at it, more I like it.
BMW has me sold on S bike ;)
Need4Speed 11-08-2004, 07:23 PM it does kinda grow on you doesnt it? im still trying to figure out why the didnt make that windshield alittle more visible and with some more substance to it. i just looks stuck there..maybe put a nice little fairing on it, nothing big, but either way, i think its kinda bad a$$ looking...

Where is the article you're reading? If you have found some magic way to increase 50-70 HP by remapping and bypassing Cali emissions only, without any other mods, I want to know about that.
twisty 11-12-2004, 06:09 AM Yeah this guy should be working for a my race team instead of flipping da burgers.

First off 30 HP will get S motor to 200HP ;)
BMW is setup with strick emissions settings, which also includes restrictive catalytic converter. You do the math will removing cat and remapping gain any HP on a choked emissions motor?
twisty 11-12-2004, 11:46 AM Yeah but 30hp. I highly doubt it. My be 15 to 20 at the most.

Obviously you didn't read my post, I asked you what article you were reading. Could you provide the information I asked for? besides, You show me the math, How much HP can you gain by removing the Cat, and resetting fuel delivery?? Show me the Dyno curve from the runs. What is the formula to calculate the potential gain in HP even before you dyno it? People who know what they are talking about can do all of the above from the specs provided for the mods before they are installed. They can "do the math" before the mods, and the dyno runs, which will be needed to perform the remapping by the way, so you can produce them if they exist, will only verify and validate their math. I can see your posts aren't backed up with data. Do you even have a clue about this? Maybe instead of trying to show off your checkbook, you should pick up a real book. Now, again, Can you provide the sources for this article you claim you were reading, please?

Your silly post stated 50HP to 70HP with remapping  Where did I post remapping and removal of cat would increase 50 to 70 HP :smash: If you read my post, I said S motor with remapping and cat removal NEAR 200HP :yesnod:
S and R bike have not even been released to public, test bikes are running around Europe.
Remapping and removal of cat produced 20 HP range increase on K1200RS, I will take that on my S bike ;)
German dyno stock S bike 171 HP at crank 157 HP at wheels.

bumblebee 11-13-2004, 01:42 PM Here, Let me help you with your math...151(stock at Rear) + 20(HP gained by your mods) = 171 Even being generous, 171 is not near 200 HP at rear wheel. 171/200= .85 that leaves 15% short. to make it simple you go 85 mph, I go 100mph and I beat you every time no matter how far you want to go. However, I do appreciate the data you supplied...it tells a good story, you should read and study your info closer.
My mistake it should be 157 + 20 = 177 therefore 177/200 = .885 making you only 12% off. But even at 88.5 Vs 100...you still lose. In a sport decided by .001 seconds, being 12 % off will still put your bike on the trailer and you in the stands

Most people measure MOTOR HP at crank. Most all motorcycle manufactures also rate their motors HP at crank. Sorry you mistaken my NEAR 200HP as meaning at rear wheels.

Who cares about what you get at the crank. Its what you are getting at the rear wheel that matters. :)
Need4Speed 11-13-2004, 02:34 PM cant have one without the other..crank or rear wheel, they are both just as important as the other.

I will agree with the second comment but the first one made no sense at all. I know what your trying to say. You will alway have both. However, the HP at the crank will always drop from there to the wheel. :)

True HP on pavement is true HP. When was last time you saw bike or auto manufacture advertise HP at rear wheels???
Since we are talking about stock bike numbers, most of us use manufacture numbers when talking about HP on new bikes ;)

Actually, I find that many mc riders do actually keep themselves in shape and continue riding into the golden years if they dont give into girlfriends/wives pleas and demands to give up the bike before then. Motorcycling is who I am, it is a part of me and I will be riding until as long as physically possible, like when I hit 60's or 70's. I am on the verge of 30 and I have been riding the hardest I have in my life this year on the track and street and its been a breeze for this ole lady!
Gas Man 11-16-2004, 12:41 PM Yeah, right Pippi....you will never get any older than 29!!!! It will just be 29 for 2nd time, 3rd time, 4th time, and so on!!!
