Stunt4Life 04-14-2007, 10:44 PM Got my first ticket tonight on my way home from taco bell and decided to drift my truck (f150) in the open parking lot approxx 1000feet x 1000feet ( get doing 120 in my r6 on it) and since it was raning i figured why not lay out some sick drifts, never done it before in a car so why the hell not! So i obey all laws into the parking lot with no one in it then rool out a 300foot burnout into a 40mph power slide for like 300 feet sidesways at like a 45* angle. straighten it out and pull a drift to the other side all the way out.
****ing sux $107.50 fine for doing like 3 drifts.
Called my dad he dosent care but ill have to explain it to my mom in the morning, but its not like they both dont do dontus in winter.
Of course im going to fight it because i wont pled guilty, i know many of you have fought tickets and won whats some advice.

and you really don't have much room to fight it anyways... it was stupid... Not saying I haven't done it either... but I was just as stupid...

it all depends. If the ticket goes to a mayors court you have no chance in hell of winning. Request to have it in a municiple court. your best bet is to delay the court hearing as long as possible and hope the officer that gave you the ticket doesnt show up.

you can always take your lick'ns like a man! and just pay your fine. you did the crime... and unfortunately got caught... :2cents:
TATER 04-15-2007, 12:52 AM long shot here.... can you get a notorized letter from the owner of the business that you were doing burnouts in his parkinglot with his permission????? ha ha ha...your screwed.....
just fight it stating that you don't feel like you were being reckless... you were just practicing defensive driving skills...and furthermore the fact that you were practicing off of the publick streets and safeley away from traffic in an empty parking lot you feel that the careless driving ticket should be thrown out...
BEING SERIOUS NOW
The best thing you can do is look up "careless driving" in your local or state laws... print out anything you can find as a "definition" of careles driving. When you go in front of the magistrate ask the officer to state where in the law (what chapter and so forth) and what wording of the law states that what you were doing is considered "careless driving" I doubt he will have the definition of careless driving with him so I doubt that he can state actual law off the top of his head... iF HE CANNOT STATE ACTUAL PHRASES OF THE LAW AND HOW YOU VIOLATED THEM ASK THE MAGISTRATE HOW YOU CAN BE CHARGED WITH THEM... can you charge me of murder if what I did doesn't meet the predetermined guidelines of the crime.. NO! then start to hummm the star spangled banner...oh yeah and mention actual parts of the law that might be in your favor verbatim from the actual laws and you may get a magistrate that finds in your favor....
damn i've still never openly admited to loosing my virginity to my mother, and that happend almost a decade ago.

magestrate courts are a GOOD thing because generally they arent bias. They really dont give a rat's ass about the cop [and about you either] which is more of a plus than you think. Like it was said before, try and delay it as much as you can. then again chances are the cop wont show up the first time. :luck:
Stunt4Life 04-15-2007, 10:04 AM Im going to plead not guilty and base it on the fact that it was raning and being a new driver and having my dad tell me "watch out in the truck, its rear wheel drive and has a loose rear as opposed to the car which is a front wheel drive" So i was trying to figure out how the car would react to hydro planing since i had never driven it in the rain like i had the car.
That sound good enough?
Of course im going to try to delay it as long as possible but how far is realistic like 8months?

That might work. Get it knocked down to impeading traffic. Its about $185 ticket but its nothing more than a glorified parking ticket!

Stunt4Life 04-15-2007, 12:38 PM I dont care about the cost factor of the ticket because its only 107 bucks but its 3 points and its gonna raise the insurance costs of the ENTIRE family which will get me in big torouble because we have so many cars and bikes not to mention a lotus elise that is expensive to insure!
Ill i want to do is drop the points.

they will call bull**** on that lol for the simple fact that a parking lot isnt YOUR property and to drive the truck like that is endangering others and yourself and all that other stuff they love to throw at us.

k_bick 05-24-2007, 10:42 PM just say you got permission from the store manager. If your pipes wasn't loud theres not much they can say. Or if your friends with someone that works on that shift take them to court and have them say that they gave you permission. You can always tear p your own property or the property of someone if they give you permission. Check with your laws in your area, in Missouri there is nothing that can be done until the owner complains or your pipes are to loud. Then its only a peace disturbance ticket if a b**chy neighbor complains.

I was driving my brother to the friggin airport and my mom was even in the car... the officer almost took away my license for a week, but I told him I was traveling to the west coast and he gave it back... phew... cuz if he hadnt I wouldnt have been able to drive back (my mom couldn't drive because of a bad arm)
cheap ticket but my insurance's gonna go up... f*ck!!! I'm 18!!! I need all the breaks i can get on insurance...
:cursin::cursin::cursin::cursin:
Stunt4Life 05-25-2007, 10:41 AM Yeah, I never speed in a car.
We bought a new passport x50 or whatever the newest thing is that is a radar that dectors laser, k,ka,and x bands and works great from super far away. Also has a built in "anti dector dector" and was only like 320 bucks.
I might get one for my bike it works so well, only problem is hearing it and seeing it go off at above 60mph on the bike.
Crazy250 05-25-2007, 10:44 AM I'm always speeding... actually I've been way overdue for a ticket... I don't even care about the ticket... its the insurance rates on an 18 year old with 1 speeding ticket on a motorcycle thats gonna kill me! my dad was saying something about taking driving school to get it off your record... :idk:
I can't even argue it since I'm leaving for the summer.
Stunt4Life 05-25-2007, 10:47 AM Check this out, if i lost the court yesterday.
16 year old with wreckless driving and 3 pts.
Phenix_Rider 05-25-2007, 10:58 AM I thought I was in for one yesterday. Doing ~80 on the interstate on the way home. I see a cop in the median pointed my way as soon as I come around a corner. Nothing I could do put let off the gas and keep it smooth. Guess he was more interested in keeping an eye on the oversize trucks running around, because he could easy have grabbed a lot of people.
Crazy250 05-25-2007, 11:09 AM the cop really had it in for me... I guess someone called me in, cuz I was going faster earlier and then slowed down to about 70 when he pulled up behind me.
Crazy250 05-25-2007, 12:07 PM well I just called in to the state attourney's office and they told me that I can take a traffic course (4 hours on a saturday, $45), and pay them some fees ($172) and then I'll be under court supervision, so as long as I don't get another traffic ticket in 6 months I'll have nothing on my record.
overall I'll spend about $300 now, but hopefully I'll save in the long run thru insurance fees.
Stunt4Life 05-25-2007, 12:49 PM Better to pay for it now than pay BIG for it later.
DJNytblaste 05-25-2007, 03:31 PM I got the mom joke when I first read it, then noticed that someone already posted about it *shakes head hehe*
About the ticket...there is NO WAY that is going to get thrown out...like stated,,,and it MAY be reduced. Plus it all depends on what state you are in and how they handle things.:skep:

 I know I was waiting to bust N2S as soon as i read that but then I saw someone had... :cursin:
I just came back from the courthouse in the county I got the ticket (hour drive... and of course I wasn't speeding ). They put me on "court supervision" for 6 months, gave me 4 months to take a traffic course and I paid $172 in fees instead of $75 for the ticket (+ $45 for the safety course). So $217 total, and a clean driving record. :woo:
So... I'd give it a shot at least try to get stuff reduced when it comes to tickets... the worst thats gonna happen is they'll say no and you are back where you started. :idk:
Gas Man 05-25-2007, 04:16 PM I think Trip has the right idea in mind. He's just not saying it nicely.

Understand, I know where you are at. I did all kinds of stupid stuff when I was your age and did even more as I got a bit older.

Back _Marker 05-25-2007, 10:36 PM be glad you didn't lose your license like i did.
my license was suspended at age 16 for drag racing (corvette).
that's when i bought a dirtbike to get around town.
then i successfully eluded the local cops a few times on the bike until my bro turned me in. i lost my license until age 25.
then i got caught eluding again at age 28 on the bike, but i learned the court system and plea bargained for equipment misuse.
after this point, all my speeding tickets never went to court. plea bargained out of court for equipment misuse.
lawyers are worth the money...

my license was suspended at age 16 for drag racing (corvette).
that's when i bought a dirtbike to get around town.
then i successfully eluded the local cops a few times on the bike until my bro turned me in. i lost my license until age 25.
then i got caught eluding again at age 28 on the bike, but i learned the court system and plea bargained for equipment misuse.
after this point, all my speeding tickets never went to court. plea bargained out of court for equipment misuse.
lawyers are worth the money...

I actually dont get my licence back until Nov of this year. I lost it due to going 100+mph over the posted speed limit (it was in my uncles non-tested raced/supped up porsche) and I got busted in a 25mph zone! It sux, but I still drive everywhere,,my boy doesnt have one either. It is just a pain when it comes to registering vehicles, but we get around that. i cant wait to get it back!
