elimental 04-18-2007, 12:45 AM last night while being out with the girlfriend and some friends i spotted a wallet from a block away, don't ask how i just have a sixth sense for knowing where the money is
so there's 160 bucks in it, 2 credit cards, what may be the pin # written on a piece of paper and the dude's state ID. Im trying to contact this guy so i can return his belongings cause i just don't wanna mail it to some address not knowing if he lives there still or not. Anyone here know how i could get a hold of him with his state ID and credit cards?
OneSickPsycho 04-18-2007, 12:56 AM Contact the PD in that area... From what I have heard if nobody claims it within 60 days, it's yours. Or you could just sell the credit cards to some crackheads for $20 each and make $200 the easy way.

I'd say contact the credit card companies through the numbers on the back then... They will probably request the cards back... Maybe send the guy a letter to his address. Address it to his name, but don't put any other information in it. If he can respond correctly with the following answers, give it to him:
What are the credit card numbers?
Stats from his ID.
How much money was in the wallet?
What else was in it?

yeah i think i'll do that. :thx1:
Kelly 04-18-2007, 01:43 AM your best bet would probably be to send the guy a letter. Or you can just go to the address and give it back (his state ID has a picture on it so you can tell if it's the guy or not)

I did this one time. Got a dudes wallet off the street. He had left it on the roof of his car when he was gasing up... drove off and it fell off. I stopped and picked it up. Found his name in the phone book and called.
The guy was MAJORLY happy. I even dropped it off at his house!

You rock GM, most jackasses would just take the $160 a toss out the rest. More reps when I can.
Gas Man 04-18-2007, 05:21 PM Well for me I don't think there was that much cash in it. I had to get online to find the guy as well as mapquesting his address. He tried to pay me but I refused. Its Karma and I'm all about it. Do to others as you would want done to you. Its one of my principals that I live life with. Well... I need more help when I'm driving...

I knew a guy onetime keep the cash but did mail is wallet to him :)
yeah i know people that have done the same, but when you work as hard for your money as i do, i wouldn't want anyone taking it. sure i'd be a douche for loosing the wallet but still ya know?
elimental 04-19-2007, 06:17 PM I tell you the internet can be a very powerful tool if you use it right. I did some searching and tracked down the dude's adress [or atleast what i thought was his adress] and spoke to some lady who told me he had moved and he doesnt live there anymore but he still receives his mail there. So i left my number with her and told her as soon as she speaks to the man to give him my number and have him call me. She's calling her husband now to get this gentleman's number so she can tell him to call me.
Turns out the man lives here in queens no not in L.I there for who knows what would've happen if i had mailed it to the adress on the ID!
I tell you if this doesnt earn me some MAJOR brownie points with someone up in heaven so i can get my bike and my stuff i dont know what would!
tallywacker 04-19-2007, 06:29 PM Talking about earning brownie points null and voids them

King Bob 04-19-2007, 06:47 PM you deserve something for being an honest person and not just keeping the wallet and money for yourself.
there are few of us anymore who would find the owner of a wallet and return it to them with everything in it anymore.

yeah man its a shame. I've had a couple people ask me "so what are u gonna do with it?" and get surprised when i tell'em "well ive gotta find the guy and return it" i mean really why would you keep something that isnt yours? take a second and put yourself in that person's shoes.
Stunt4Life 04-19-2007, 07:54 PM If i was in your shoes i would have taken out 20 bucks and gave him backeverything else and told him im sure you didnt mind i took 20 out to pay for gas and etc...
It would be a different story if i found a brown lunch bag filled with cash tho.

You'll get good karma for it. And I got you some reppy for it at least!
elimental 04-19-2007, 08:11 PM so i just got off the phone with the owner and he's swinging by my job tomorrow around 4 to pick it up. I've gotta tell you it sure felt good to hear how happy he was when i told him i have his wallet and that the money is still in it as well as everything else. :angelhap:
King Bob 04-19-2007, 08:21 PM something good shall come forth to you in time for your good deed. glad to hear the wallet's owner contacted you and is getting his hard earned money back.
its all too easy to put myself in that person's place, it gets easy to be bent out of shape about losing something like your wallet.
Gas Man 04-19-2007, 08:27 PM Yeah you'll get your good in return... and I think they say it comes back 10 fold.
elimental 04-19-2007, 08:41 PM believe it or not im not really expecting nor i want anything in return. i told him i didnt know how much money he had in it before he dropped it, but that there were 160 bucks in it now and he said "yeah thats right! help yourself to it as a finder's fee" and i had to turn him down. I mean maybe i just see things differently but i dont believe people should be rewarded for doing the right thing.
King Bob 04-19-2007, 09:19 PM Gas Man is right, good karma returns the favor 10 fold. you'll recieve something eventually I'm sure. it may be something when you least expect it, or really need something good in your life.
just knowing you did the right thing is the best of all rewards, and money cant beat it.
ebbs15 04-19-2007, 09:27 PM Just after I graduated HS... I was working in the mall at Structure. it's like American Eagle... ANYWAYS... I was cleaning out the dressing room when I found a wallet litteraly with money falling out of it... I picked up and counted it... $5600 CASH! I took the wallet... and put it in a drawer in the front office... told my manager about it... she looked at me like I was insane... probably cause I didn't take any cash...
the dude came in about 5mins before we closed white faced... asked if I found a wallet... I had him discribe it... he did so... I handed the wallet to him he counted it in front of me and turned and left... with out saying THANKS!... I was like **** YOU! I could have VERY easily said nope and been $5600 richer...
but I believe in Karma... still waiting for the pay off on that one though:tt:

it's funny how easy we all think of things as neg... like... what the **** did I do to deserve getting a flat in the middle of nowhere!? not... THANK ****ING GOD I'M ALIVE! :idk:

wouldnt call it human nature, but conditining. its what we've been bombarded from all sides as we grow. No longer "give thanks for waking up in the am" or "be greatful of the little you might have"
Crazy250 04-19-2007, 10:14 PM karma?? I'll take cash.
a few months ago I found a cell phone lying in some snow. returned that, the lady gave me 20 bucks. the worst part is the phone prolly wasnt even worth that much. anyways it feels good to help someone out.
repped.

I'd not be a dumbazz and lose my wallet with $160.

I don't buy the whole karma thing... I have seen some dispicable motherf*ckers with the best luck in the world... Then again, I have seen the nicest, sweetest, most honest people perpetually get the shaft.
I look at things in terms of opportunity, rather than fantasy... I have an opportunity to gain $160 or I have the opportunity to be a nice guy... Since most people think I am an azzhole anyway, screw it...

King Bob 04-19-2007, 10:22 PM you have to be glad for what you DO have, and see the bright side to all situations to appreciate life to the fullest. you're either grateful for the good things in life, or you're hateful of everything.
