OneSickPsycho 05-07-2007, 10:02 AM I was thinking about how nice an automatic bike would be yesterday as I was toolin' through downtown yesterday.
marko138 05-07-2007, 10:11 AM No thanks. I enjoy shifting.
SVRider 05-07-2007, 10:13 AM auto bike = :gary:
OneSickPsycho 05-07-2007, 10:21 AM No thanks. I enjoy shifting.
When rolling stoplight to stoplight downtown, it would be nice not to have to clutch 5,000 times within 2 miles.

I could agree with that.
NONE_too_SOFT 05-07-2007, 10:24 AM you can allways put it in N while you wait...

Holding the clutch isn't bad... It's the grab/release that pizzes me off... I love shifting, don't get me wrong... but in town it's cumbersome.
Understand this though, I would only own an automatic CRUISER...
trock 05-07-2007, 12:25 PM I think there is a lot more control over the car/bike having a manual tranny. An auto takes away a lot from the driving experience I think.
Stunt4Life 05-07-2007, 01:38 PM Yeah deff more controll but its stop and go traffic so....
want something like that get a scooter.
Automatics will make riding a motorcycle less exclusive.

The 2007 Aprilia Mana 850 is unusual in that it features a manual/auto gearbox. The Mana 850's transmission can be switched between a manual 7 speed gearbox - controled via handlebar mounted buttons, and a CVT (Continually Variable Transmission) auto with three modes, sport, touring and rain covering all scenarios. 'Sport' keeps the engine speed near its peak power. 'Touring' lowers the revs slightly to conserve fuel. And the 'Rain' setting reduces torque to lower the chance of any wheelspin.
The Aprilia Mana 850's unconventional gearbox is connected to a new 850 cc V-twin developing 75 horsepower and 56 ft lbs of torque, controled via an electronic drive-by-wire throttle.
The Aprilia Mana 850 also features a large helmet storage compartment where the fuel tank is normally found.

Phenix_Rider 05-08-2007, 08:16 PM Interesting- but where's the fuel?
Is it in the frame like a Buell?

I like the helmet storage... Automatics would be boring.
OneSickPsycho 05-08-2007, 10:27 PM So... I assume fuel is under the seat... That's easy enough... But what's up with the 7 speed gearbox... Switch it to manual and you can tow your boat with it? Or travel back in time?
R1up0n1 05-08-2007, 10:31 PM automatic bikes are :gary: it reminds me of the old Honda Spree moped.
Gas Man 05-09-2007, 08:33 PM There are a few other brands of bikes that are autos. Ridley or somin is a cruiser. No way. That is gonig to do nothing but attrack even a worse clientel to the biker community and then tarnish its name EVEN MORE!
upshift 05-10-2007, 08:27 PM not sure if this counts as an auto but ive seen a gixxer with a speed shift on it...u have + and - buttons to upshift and downshift...i thought it was pretty cool...as for a completely automatic bike, :iagree: with the others...it would just take away from the experience...
Gas Man 05-11-2007, 12:28 PM I posted one here... it was a total cruiser but had a automatic tranny/clutch setup. It was hella gay.
