I wouldn't pay attention to it either way. I said no because I don't really care about it. Seems like it added another thing for you guys to monitor.

I don't really care about the points thing, but the immediate feedback on stuff I've written (good and bad) gives me a good idea of what folks are looking for in the posts, and gives me ideas for other articles. Frequently, comments in the rep area have triggered other ideas. JMHO

I say keep it, if you give someone advise its nice for the feed back, I’m not going to cry if you take it away. I say if it isn’t costing anything keep it. Anyway I want to see what happens to N2S when he gets 2 more stars!

I think keep it. It is fun to see who is getting the most and everything else. As far as being a measure of someones reputation and "value" of their posts it is fairly useless. I mostly know whose posts are going to be more useful, for example, i double and tripple read most of OTB's posts. However the repping purely for the sake of repping is stupid IMO.

Hey, I'm guilty as OJ on making it a game, but I still get reps thanking me for something or some sh*t, which is cool. Then I get pics of broads and stuff, which is also cool. I say keep it. Leave it up to the people to take what they want to take as serious or just a "what's up?" rep.

In this way, everyone is accountable for their reps, good or bad, and other people can actually see what's been repped, and read the feedback directly related to that post. So we could wipe the slate clean, so-to-speak, and maybe reintroduce it with that fucntionality.

wow, i didnt know this rep'n thing was such a huge deal. :idk: I always used it to tell someone of a cool thread, or something funny was said. The only time ive EVER neg repd someone was when they were attacking someone or being entirely rude and disrespectful. (the person ended up being banned shortly after anyway.) Ive never been neg repd, and if i was i wouldnt care. This site is for a group of people to have fun, talk about bikes, and shoot the (ya know). Reps are a way to have fun... Once it starts taking away from the purpose of this board, motorcycles, then it probably shouldn't be here. It's sitting on the fence right now I would say for Shan to post a poll about it. I know I have done this too, so I am not saying I am perfect, but it seems the hottest topics on the board have absolutely nothing to do with two wheels most of the time and that is the reason every single one of us have found this board.

I am not saying it's there, but it has to be close for them to be questioning getting rid of it. It's up to them to ultimately decide when it's outlived it's usefulness and if it will. I am just a lowly member with more opinions than solutions. :lol:

Also understand that all these ideas that are great... can't be done. The rep system is part of the software and not really adjustable in that manner.

I thought it would be "weeks" from the date of my original post because of how often I normally get repped, but I got repped more in two days than I normally get in a week. I figured there was room for one more gold star. Now to wait a few more days (I'm guessing 5 or 6) and we'll see what happens after the ninth star since there isn't room on the same line for number 10. Hope they don't get rid of the system before then.
