Stunt4Life 05-22-2007, 03:55 PM Who all skate boards in here?
Most of my friends sk8 and I decided im gonna try and relearn how to skate this summer and it will be good to help keep me in shape. And its gonna be super cool to go and ride my r6 out some where and meet up with them and jsut skate. Ill have to get one of those back packs tho which is like another 50 bucks but hey 50$ cant buy anything for the bike.
So, im looking at getting an element fiberlight deck and what are the fastest smoothest bearings out there? When I used to skate about 3 years ago it as the Bones swiss bones bearings.
Also anyone run 7.75 trucks on a 7.5 deck?
Im not worried about durablilty at all, skate boards are cheap and if I shater one no big deal. Id like to spend under $150 for a nice complete and im going by ccs.com with there build a custom so far.
Any imput?
marko138 05-22-2007, 03:59 PM I used to. Swiss Bones are the BEST bearings out there. They are expensive tho.
I used to run 8" decks and 7.75 Independent trucks.
DJNytblaste 05-22-2007, 09:26 PM I used to board a little back when I was about 14-15 yrs old. ..wont say how good I was.. but I will just say,,yeah I boarded a little
OneSickPsycho 05-22-2007, 10:19 PM Most of my friends sk8ed back in the day... I couldn't even stand on the mofo... I rode BMX and MTB... Generally towing their slow asses around...
Stunt4Life 05-22-2007, 10:29 PM Well, I see It as a good oppertunity to go places and hang outside allday and ride to sports to skate and just have fun and try not to ____ myself up at all.
I dunno if i want really good bearings tho, i dont want to go too fast.
lol never though you hear that out of my mouth huh?
DJNytblaste 05-23-2007, 03:16 PM Wow, you dont wanna go too fast! That IS a first to hear! hehe. And yeah, i'm with ya, when I was young, i did the whole BMX thing too.
Back _Marker 05-23-2007, 03:40 PM i still thrash the board around. my kid's wanted to learn so i got them some cheapo's. i still have my original powel peralta board (it's over 20 yrs old).
i do alota grabs so i have ribs on the sides. my board isn't shaped too well for ollies. the newer lighter boards with taller trucks are great for ollies. lower trucks are best for ramps and jumps. also, taller trucks allows for looser settings for tighter cornering.
for the pipes, i use soft wheels. for street, i like to slide with hard cheapo's. you gona do stunts? i recommend full gear.

naldge 05-23-2007, 05:26 PM i've been skating for almost 20 years, don't think i'll stop, too much fun....Element makes good boards, the fiberlight is just that, light...i had one of those and i couldn't find enough things to ollie over....i'm not to sure about 7.75 trucks on a 7.5 board, but to each their own, just get some indy trucks and spitfire wheels, you won't regret it
tallywacker 05-23-2007, 05:33 PM Yeah im still boardin riding a element fiberlight
Stunt4Life 05-23-2007, 11:23 PM Im thinking...

Trucks- http://shop.ccs.com/item.do?categoryID=49&itemID=15111&sizeFilter=7.5&colorFilter=&brandFilter=

Wheels - http://shop.ccs.com/item.do?categoryID=61&itemID=16380&sizeFilter=&colorFilter=&brandFilter=0120

Bearings- Probally gonna go with the bones reds since i had a set when i used to skate and they were sick, too fast for me (noob)
Hopefully I can rid my noob status in like a months and be able to ollie while moving on concrete and maby do some lame grinds.

Any decent bearings will be plenty fast.
marko138 05-23-2007, 11:25 PM I also used to use risers and shock pads under the trucks...gave my board like an extra 3/4" lift. Pop some huge Ollies.
Stunt4Life 05-23-2007, 11:44 PM The taller the trucks and rises the higher the ollies?
I would think that would promote unstabilty as noob friendly-ness
I want somethign super light and easy to learn on and rail it hard on the street once i get better than super nub.

Yeah but it's not like it's a foot off the ground...so you should be fine. Experiment with some risers and without...see what you like.
Also...I kept the kingpin on the trucks pretty loose. Not unstable loose...but pretty loose. That makes it easier to ride out sloppy landings on your tricks.
Stunt4Life 05-24-2007, 12:02 AM The king pin?
Is that the bolt that adjusts how tight the trucks are and how resiliant they act to your leaning?
marko138 05-24-2007, 12:03 AM The king pin?

Yep...goes straight down the middle...holds everything together. The hanger, the base, and the bushings.
ZX6RRIDER 05-24-2007, 12:10 AM I have an Arbor pin long board, got it when I was in L.A last year.
......yeah so I'm not much good to ya. but I would think if you spent $150 you are getting good stuff.
naldge 05-24-2007, 12:32 AM the board and the wheels are cool, the trucks i'm not to sure of, never heard of them before, so i can't speak on how they turn, and any bearings you choose are fine, but bones bearings are well worth the money
tallywacker 05-24-2007, 09:55 AM Go with Destructo's or GK's Ive have Destructo's for awile now
Stunt4Life 05-24-2007, 10:47 AM What do you guys think of this complete package http://cgi.ebay.com/Enjoi-Whitey-Panda-7-5-Skateboard-Deck-Decks-Complete_W0QQitemZ250118258582QQihZ015QQcategoryZ16264QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
it is less than half the price *shipped* of that fiberlight package I wanted.
For like 70 bucks I could kick around on that for a few months till im able to actually do some stuff then buy a real expensive one. Using this one for less ideal weather condtitions and or learning new stuff.
But at 70$ I think its deffinately something to consider.
naldge 05-24-2007, 11:02 AM that's a good package, great price for that setup, i'd go for it
tallywacker 05-24-2007, 02:06 PM Wonder if is a scam:scratch: I could easily spray paint decks from walmart and sell them on ebay for profit...
Oh well how tall are you there is no way i could ride a deck that small
Stunt4Life 05-24-2007, 02:36 PM 6ft 1 and 180lbs but will loose about 15 lbs this summer as I get ripped.
I dont think its a scam because look at all there feed back and they sell all kinds of pro decks like that.
marko138 05-25-2007, 12:17 AM Go with Destructo's or GK's Ive have Destructo's for awile now
:iagree: Grind King trucks rule.
Stunt4Life 05-25-2007, 10:30 AM Well I ended up buying that white panda enjoi complete for $68 shipped and it should be here by thursday (because of the holliday weekend).
My one good friend is gonna give me the hook up with some free wheels and bearings and maby a set of trucks if these are chitty. Hes gone thru and broken more decks than he can remember and just has shoe box after shoe box of mixed skate parts.
He said you cant go wrong with an enjoi deck but since im 6ft1 and 180lbs i probally should have got something wider like an 8 inch (i got a 7.5) but im just a noob so well see.

I just started out with the same. Good little package deal and start replacing as I out grow.
I’ve been skating off and on for 7 years. Biggest gap was a year (no heath insurance, had to stop)
I just got back into it a year ago so I am back to a no name deck, truck, and wheel package with some decent bearings (can’t remember what they are tho).
I suck at street, mainly because I am a tubby bitch with no vertical so I cant Ollie for crap!!... But I have thrown my self down enough half pipes to get the hang of them. Skate parks are the only way to go in my area. Between the weather and the cops over patrolling the nice skate spots, indoor parks are the only way to skate.
Stunt4Life 05-27-2007, 09:12 AM Its gay how the man is always trying to keep us down, cant skate, cant ride, cand even ride a freaking wheelie on my bicycle down the street without it being an "obstruction to traffic"

It is gay how they dont want you to destroy public property and be a safety hazard to innocent citizens, isn't it?
Stunt4Life 05-27-2007, 09:32 AM In a bad mood today ?

Some of them. What about the black residue all over their $#!T from the wax? Do we have a right to do that? No.
Stunt4Life 05-28-2007, 12:46 AM I just mean skate aroud town.
Not destroy the same spot for like 2 hrs and grind all the ledges
