Getting a passport Sunday, March 18, 2007 There are three ways to get a new passport or replace or renew the one you have. Keep in mind new travel rules have increased demand and turnaround time for passports. Basic cost of a new adult passport is $97, which includes a $67 application fee and a $30 execution fee. Regular application: First-timers must apply in person. Head to a passport acceptance facility to find all the required documents and fees. Locally, this means going to the post office. Wait 10 weeks. In some cases you can renew by mail - see if you qualify and download the necessary form online (see below). Expedited application: For an extra fee ($60) and overnight shipping costs, wait time is reduced to 3-4 weeks. **Yes they do take this long now because of the new rules for needing ones to get to canada and mexico by plane now...this really sux..glad I got mine redone when I did...right before all this started.

:thx1: for the PSA. You are so welcome. This is becoming a HUGE problem for people traveling. Like I said, ever since they are making people who fly into Canada and Mexico now get passports, they are FLOODED with applications. There was one guy on our news that is stuck in the US and cant get to canada to do work now due to this. He has been stuck for 10 weeks and STILL hasnt gotten anything. If you try to call...all you will get is either: a) thank you for calling the (whatever the name is they use). and it hangs up Or b) Thank you for calling the (name here)...please hold..after 5 minutes of holding it hangs up! Just a little FYI here:readng: :dthumb:

Anything to do with immigration or traveling documents involving the US is an absolute nightmare. I'm going through hell right now with my wife of 1 month who's from Brazil. It really blows serious donkey nuts.

Anything to do with immigration or traveling documents involving the US is an absolute nightmare. I'm going through hell right now with my wife of 1 month who's from Brazil. It really blows serious donkey nuts. This blows man, i'm sorry to hear this. It is all because of the USA panicing AGAIN and making everyone get those canada and mexico to USA passports, it is litterally F***ing up the whole system. It's wrong! But yeah, most people had time to plan ahead,,,so some of these people I cant feel for,,but this situation yes, I feel for it!
