ScottSellersUNR 05-28-2007, 12:26 PM Hyundai Concept Genesis
in 2008 the Hyundai Genesis should go on sale in the US, some interesting notes:
"The Korean company is taking a dead shot at Lexus and Infiniti, and if it can mix it up with BMW and Audi, all the better."
"Concept Genesis is powered by a newly developed dohc 32-valve 4.6-liter V-8 — officially named Tau — which Hyundai says will make “well over 300 bhp,” along with more than 300 lb.-ft. of torque; a ZF 6-speed automatic with Shiftronic manual ability "
"A limited-slip rear differential (not a standard feature on most cars in this class) and the car's 53/47 front/rear weight distribution"
"driver-selectable suspension settings should allow for comfortable around-town cruising, with sportier dynamics when the going gets twisty"
"a claimed 12-14 percent higher dynamic torsional rigidity (with also a lower body-in-white weight) than the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class."
"Neat features include adaptive cruise control, eight airbags, heated/cooled seats, HID headlamps with adaptive leveling and a navigation system with a backup camera. As with every Hyundai, one of the key selling points will be its bargain price. In this case, that means a starting price “well under $30,000.”
this might be one hell of a car for the money, it will be interesting, especially with a 100,000 mile warranty.
OneSickPsycho 05-28-2007, 12:36 PM Yeah... but what does it look like?
jalaan1 05-28-2007, 12:44 PM very interesting, looks pretty decent too....

Kinda reminds me of that movie "White Chicks". The rich girls are trying to slam on the other girls by saying, "Yeah, well your mom drives a 5 series BMW". If that's the way they think, what would they say about a Hyundai? But I'll tell you what, I wouldn't mind driving that car at all. Driving luxury with a bargain price AND a 100K mi warranty? I'm all about it.
DJNytblaste 05-28-2007, 03:57 PM It's a cool looker, but not me at all. It's gonna be intresting what happends with this one.
I'll take mine anyday.sorry guys...http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c159/Kennybier/mybaby.jpg <--my baby when I was taking a photo of it for a magazine (which it never got put into grrrrrr) but still ok!
King Bob 05-28-2007, 04:16 PM I'd drive it. starting price under $30k and intended to compete with the bigger japanese luxury cars? hell yeah. it doesnt even look too expensive, just a little upper middleclass.

This is what my face looks like right now: :yikes:
Thats the phattest car I have ever, ever seen. It deserves its own thread with a description, specs, engine work, everything. And many many pictures.
P.S. I'm all for Hyundai, I hope they come out with some awesome stuff and start kicking ass in the market.
ceo012384 05-29-2007, 01:02 AM kinda looks like a camry w/ big wheels.:idk:
:yup: the whole front fascia, headlights, and grill look like Hyundai just ripped them off a camry. Hey! maybe that's how they make them so cheap!

That's a sick ride bro. I love those hamann wheels... also love the cf roof. very nicely done. you got any kind of forced induction on her? If you tell me you have a Dinan charger in there i'm going to piss my pants :lhump:
Ineffable 05-29-2007, 05:02 AM Hyundais kinda got off to a bad start and they are still trying to shed the negative rep. I know a few friends you had tiburons that started on fire cause of bad electrical wiring. I almost bought one till that happened. Speaking of new cars finally broke down and bought a new one. Unfortunately it also used up the money for getting a bike again but since I have moved to CO I figured it was a better investment than a bike cause of the snow and such here.

my new baby is black though, 31k out the door fully loaded. Only problem is it wont be delivered for another month because the dealership had to order one that is a standard

Sweet ride, my friend. Those altima coupes look pretty sweet, and you save some cash over the infiniti. And  to you for waiting for the stick. I will never own an automatic vehicle with any number of wheels in my life. Too much disconnection.
Ineffable 05-29-2007, 02:40 PM Yea all my cars have been standard makes driving more fun. I travel for work a ton so I wanted something that I wouldnt get bored of in 5 min. not to mention in dash nav touch screen

Been raced in Las Vegas and WON!
Custom interior work took $27,000 to do, and took 7 months to complete

DJNytblaste 05-30-2007, 03:19 PM If the weather keeps up, I'll get online tonite and post some up if not, i'll try to do it tomorrow morning before I head out for work.
tallywacker 05-30-2007, 06:24 PM If Hyundai decides to build a true luxury car the will most likely make a new nameplate for it just like all the japanese companies did when they introduced their own lines of luxury cars. In japan the luxury names dont exist. They knew they had to separate their vehicle's in America because we need that bling status label.
ScottSellersUNR 05-31-2007, 03:28 PM i dont know if they would, Kia didnt with its Amanti and its got lots of luxury stuff, and way over the price of the rest of them. Introducing a new name is risky too. I think Hyundai will keep it under its name for the sake of recognising its warranty and reliability.
I know its looking to be the nicest car for the money of anything sold in the US. Hopefully they get any bugs worked out beofre release to get good professional reviews on the production cars.
Gas Man 06-03-2007, 11:25 AM Sorry guys.. I can only buy American vechicles... nice or not... something needs to be done to help our chity economy.

thats why you just take the hyundai badges off, and when people see it for the first time, they wont know what the hell to think, lol

Yeah, and steal the badges of your neighbors Mercedes...
ScottSellersUNR 06-03-2007, 11:06 PM id be all for leaving the logos on, then going and finding the Ford Focus street racer and handing him his ass in your "budget luxury car" and still haivng all the cool add ons hes done like the navigation, and a whole lot more... All warrantied.
Gas- I refuse to buy a car made crappier for more money be it american or not. If we cant make decent quality then why buy from ourselves? I think american cars are making some real positive changes right now, but fuel economy is not nearly where they should like the rest of the world. I dont support GM and Dodge and Ford producing gas guuzzlers that further inflate costs for myself and harm my ability to go hunting and fishing, when other companies do there parts as practically as possible
asfaraslogic 06-03-2007, 11:27 PM I buy mazdas, good quality and assembled in AMERICA. Not quite all american, but a good compromise for me!:2cents:

Same with Hondas...
joecooool 06-04-2007, 12:41 PM Hundai has come a long way on the recent past.

To each their own. I don't see the "inferior" parts or "poor quality" anymore that you are speaking of.
