ninja or a blastsmtiner25 05-29-2007, 10:51 AM was wondering if any women here have ridden both these bikes and which they prefer? DJNytblaste 05-29-2007, 02:17 PM :welcome: to the board first off!
I have ridden the ninja MANY times. It is a good starter bike and great for stunting (if you wanna stunt it). My neighbor next door to me has a ninja 250 that he lets me ride (he likes to see me stunt it since he cant). This little bike has some get up and go to it and is extremely light also (at least to me..but i'm used to handling the zx-14) brie 05-30-2007, 01:53 AM I haven't ever been on but I really like my Blast. It's a more standard bike rather than sporty so it's very comfortable and confidence inspiring. And still I have no problem having fun in the twisties!
They're both good bikes, but very different. :2cents: jalaan1 05-30-2007, 02:26 PM :welcome: ceo012384 05-30-2007, 02:35 PM :welcome: :twfrox:
Personally I like the looks of the ninja better, and they're much more common and cheap for parts.
Also, a lot of the blasts have a big decal on the tank that says "BLAST!" which I think is kinda corny...
no offense to blast owners:wink: itgirl25 05-30-2007, 09:39 PM get the blast, be different. :dthumb: marko138 05-31-2007, 03:32 AM get the blast, be different. :dthumb:
:iagree: TropicMD 06-03-2007, 12:44 PM I just got a 2007 Ninja (hope to post pics soon). It's my first bike and I am slowly learning the handling, braking, etc... I got it because of lower cost and lighter weight.
So I guess it's up to your budget and what you can handle. THe Ninja is lighter, less expensive and has a higher seat height (which can be lowered).
The Blast - heavier, cost more, but larger engine and lower seat height. In fact, both stock heights are lower than the Ninja.
Sit on them both and see how each bike "fits" you. brie 06-04-2007, 12:31 AM :welcome: :twfrox:

That comes off, I know this because the previous owner took it off my bike and it had already faded so you can still see where the damn thing was :cursin:
I have to replace that part anyways though.
get the blast, be different. :dthumb:
:withstupi Personally, I've owned my blast a few months and I'm already antsy to move up but it's also not my first bike and even though I'd like to move up, the blast is a great bike and worth it's price (which is suprisingly low).
I would try riding both of the bikes if you can and deciding from there because since the bikes utilize different engine designs they ride very differently. hell on wheels 06-13-2007, 07:52 PM ninja Slick 6 06-14-2007, 06:37 AM I've never ridden the Blast, but I owned a Ninja 250. It was a nice bike, but I was ready to upgrade pretty quickly. The good thing about that was that the bike didn't cost much and it sells easily.
Good luck with whichever you choose and have fun! Danase 06-14-2007, 08:52 AM I've never ridden the Blast, but I owned a Ninja 250. It was a nice bike, but I was ready to upgrade pretty quickly. The good thing about that was that the bike didn't cost much and it sells easily.

I've been on both. I ended up with the Ninja only because the price was right. I would of took either. I wanted the Blast because I don't see any around but I am glad I got the Ninja 250. The bike handels better and runs much smoother. supermodelGF 06-14-2007, 11:53 PM I do not know either bike brie 06-15-2007, 02:52 PM I've been on both. Really? I figure they just handle and run differently because they are different set ups. I'll have to get on a Ninja and see for myself now that you said that. Danase 06-15-2007, 03:28 PM Really? Well, the Ninja doesn't vibrate as much, nto that I thought the Buel vibrated all that much, and the Ninja just seems to handle better in my opinion. But I love both bikes and don't think you could go wrong with either for a starter bike. brie 06-18-2007, 01:22 PM Well, the Ninja doesn't vibrate as much, nto that I thought the Buel vibrated all that much, and the Ninja just seems to handle better in my opinion. Oh I'm sure the Blast vibrates much more considering it's a single. If you like dirtbikes, the Blast is the bike for you. bikergal 06-18-2007, 01:45 PM Ninja 250 all the way..... :2cents: micspic 07-10-2007, 12:50 PM
I just joined myself. I have a ninja zx6r that I absolutely LOVE. I've never been on a blast but I would sit on both and go from there. See which one can be lowered enough to be comfortable and safe for you and see which one is more YOU, personality wise. You'll know what I mean once you start lookin for real.
good luck and have fun with your new bike, whichever one you end up with. ceo012384 07-10-2007, 04:37 PM

Your ninja, the ZX6r, is NOTHING like the ninja 250 they are considering... it's a full out supersport bike. The ninja 250 is an entry level sport bike and has almost nothing in common with yours. Not sure if that's what you were implying though. Melina 07-10-2007, 07:06 PM I'm short, 5'2, and I have a Blast with the low profile seat, and it's low enough that I have never been scared that I could fall over, I'm totally stable on it. I sat on a Ninja 250 a couple days ago and could barely touch the ground. I asked the sales guys what could be done, and for about 600 you can get it lowered by an inch or two. For me, that's not nearly enough. I have accepted the fact that I can not ride sport bikes because of the height. tallywacker 07-10-2007, 09:49 PM A blast came to a stop at a stop sign out on the street where i live. A john deere riding mower was mowing the grass not to far away. I SWEAR the blast sounded EXACTLY the same as that lawn mower when it rode if. I wouldnt be caught dead riding that thing. Im not joking about this at all but it is funny. I seriously couldnt tell the difference. brie 07-11-2007, 12:29 AM A blast came to a stop at a stop sign out on the street where i live. Hahaha. True. I blame Harley for that.
Melina, I'm 5'3" and have a blast also. I like it because it's small but I think that if you wanted to move up to something else you could do it. Eventually, you will get used to not much of your foot on the ground. At least, this is how I am on my dirt bikes (they are much taller than sport bikes for the most part). You can lower bikes for a decent price sometimes, I'm assuming the dealer told you it would be 600 dollars because that seems crazy to me. Let me know if you have any questions about that since I am kind of in the same position as you I would be happy to tell you what I know. You just wouldn't be able to hear mine over the mower!
But that stock exhaust is starting to sound pretty good (deeper) with more heat cycles on it. marko138 07-11-2007, 12:48 PM A blast came to a stop at a stop sign out on the street where i live. I've rode a Blast. They are fun as hell. They sound like go carts. But I'd absolutely ride one. Maximum fun.
ANd for lowering...about 20 bucks and your done. Get a lowering link off ebay and drop the forks a bit in the triple clamps and your done. Should take you all of about a half hour to do it to. $600? Whoever told you that is your enemy. I'll do it for $400. oldetymebiker 07-21-2007, 03:49 PM I'm short, 5'2, and I have a Blast with the low profile seat, and it's low enough that I have never been scared that I could fall over, I'm totally stable on it. A friend's wife started riding a Gs450 a year and a half ago...same height as you...went to a Duc Monster 750 w a lowering link (about 80 bucks). She also started racing YSR50's at Beaverrun in Ohio this year and is leading the series by 90 points (beating her husband who has been racing for years). I rode with them back in June, and she sets a healthy pace. You do not have to limit yourself. Careful selection and a few mods and you too can sportbike it. May I suggest that you may want to look at the older ZX7R's and ZX9R's. Kirsten (the young lady I mentioned) rode mine with no mods, and said that if she lowered it a 1/2 inch she could flat foot it. Excellent examples abound.
Photo below shows her at the last race she won.... $600--:wbs: Lowering links only cost $110 and its not that hard to install- so they are trying to get you on the labor... You shoulda checked somewhere else...
EAlthough I would lower more power, the ninja 250 is a great starter bike, hold value and can be sold pretty quickly... and my favorite part is that it is very forgiving!!! I have dropped my bike 5 times :yikes: in the first two months I owned it and I only had to buy a clutch lever ($20) and a light post thingee ($20)... And another plus is that you can remove the plastics while you are learning!!!
I really do love the ninja 250!! OneSickPsycho 07-22-2007, 12:30 PM Stick with Buell... XB12Scg... I met a lady who bought one right after I bought my bike... She couldn't have been more than 5'1", but I didn't ask. She had no problems with it. Also, factory lower so handling isn't compromised (so they say). RedRidingHood 07-27-2007, 12:35 PM Lots of mixed opinion here..however...when it comes to Kawi's vs Buell...no brainer! Go w/ the Ninja :D OneSickPsycho 07-27-2007, 12:47 PM Lots of mixed opinion here..however...when it comes to Kawi's vs Buell...no brainer! Go w/ the Ninja :D
