DiamondDallas 06-04-2007, 02:36 PM hey ladies,
i have a general newbie question for you girls about riding gloves.
so, if i had any delusions that this wasn't a male dominated sport, they would have been quickly wiped away when I was trying to purchase gloves.
I have a black and green ninja 250, and I was hoping to find a pair of green and black gloves to match. hahahaha. right.
The only two women's glove options in the store were the Joe Rocket Cleo in black or white or the Joe Rocket Phoenix 3.0 in hot pink and black. Obviously, the pink was a big h *ll no since it totally clashes with my bike, and NONE of the men's smalls I tried on fit. So I ordered the Cleo in black.
Well, the damn gloves have been backordered for a month, and although the store let me take a pair of the Phoenix 3.0 to use until they came in (they love my fam since we have purchased four bikes from them), mismatching on my bike for the past month is really starting to drive me bonkers.
My long rant was to ask if any you know of a type of men's glove that fits small -- so that a small would fit me? I like the Cleo I initially ordered, but only having one option really bugs me -- and I'm still holding out hope I can find a pair with kawi green in them. :bonk:
Thanks for your help!
devilstonic 06-04-2007, 02:41 PM Green and black is going to be a hard combo to find in womens gloves. I have a pair of Joe Rockets and love em, but I have red and black...which is a much easier color combo to find.
I recently bought a new pair of summer gloves, mens small...and I found that if I tried on a few different pairs of the same gloves, same sizes...some fit differently than others even though they were all supposed to be the same. So if you found some mens gloves with the kawi green in them that you like...maybe try on a few different pairs of the smalls...? :idk: Wish I could help you more.
neebelung 06-04-2007, 02:46 PM Check out the Teknic Chicane gloves - it's a leather gauntlet, and they run very small through the palm, but the fingers are long enough for ladies' hands. And I believe they go down to an XS. :dthumb:
Also, Dainese (from what I've heard) run narrow through the palm as well, and are popular with women riders (this from the mouth of the manager of our local Cycle Gear). The Dainese are niiiiiiiice , high quality gloves. They aren't cheap, but they're well worth the investment (I've got a pair on my wishlist).
However, if you want to order/wait for gloves, I'd highly recommend any of the Alpinestars Stella gloves (and I THINK their men's gloves go down as small as an XS... I've got a pair of men's gloves, some little lightweight meshies for summer riding, which I love).
I've got:
Joe Rocket Pheonix 1.0 (mesh, Men's M)
Joe Rocket Phoenix 2.0 (mesh, Ladies' L)
Joe Rocket Sonic (leather gauntlet, Ladies L)
Teknic Chicane (leather gauntlet, Men's S)
Alpinestars SMX6 (soft meshie, Men's M)
(and another pair of winter leather gloves, the name of which escapes me!!)
And I just ordered a pair of the Joe Rocket ladies' Heartbreaker gloves (to go with my new jacket - the Cleo 2.0) in white/purple. I should have them by the end of the week, so I'll let ya'll know how I like them. :dthumb:

:iagree: You're gonna be better off just trying tofind something in grey or black :sorry: (I know Icon makes a bunch in Kawi greeen, or at least they used to, but I don't know if they have anything in a men's style that'll be small enough for ya)
DiamondDallas 06-04-2007, 02:53 PM ok sweet. :thx1: yeah, any men's glove that comes in an XS would be great. Right now I'm looking for a summer glove, and I tried on all of the men's summer gloves in the store in a small, and none of them fit perfectly (all the fingers were too long, and the width was a little too wide on some). The ladies Cleo I ordered has a lot of leather and think it may work better for my fall glove.
I know the black and green combo might be far fetched, but I'll settle for all black.

Oh yeah, and I REALLY like the Cleo 2.0 jacket. I have a fieldsheer jacket right now, but I really want to get the regular Cleo in all black. The vee in the front and back are really flattering on a woman!
TropicMD 06-04-2007, 04:01 PM Greetings,
I just got a Ninja 250 too. I have Olympia gloves, but wanted something with better wrist protection. My Ninja is black with the red flames. I already have a red and black helmet and a red and black jacket, so I settled for all black gloves. I ended up with Joe Rocket women's Highside.
GSXRGirl 06-04-2007, 08:56 PM Ladies Gear for the most part is pretty and offers no protections.
Men's gear comes in small enough sizes if you look around.
I have had very good luck with Joe Rocket
Mens XS JOE ROCKET GPX 2.0 Gloves in White & black (These are leather)
I did not see Green.
Ladies S Icon Ladies Tarmac 2.0 Gloves in White & Black (these are mesh, but the palms are leather)
These come in many colors, but no green :(
neebelung 06-04-2007, 09:16 PM Oh yeah, and I REALLY like the Cleo 2.0 jacket. I have a fieldsheer jacket right now, but I really want to get the regular Cleo in all black. The vee in the front and back are really flattering on a woman!
I'm excited about gettin my new Cleo. I had a Women's Phoenix 2.0, then they came out with Cleo 1.0. I LIKED it, but it seemed more about style than function... the new men's Pheonix 3.0 (might even be a 4.0) came out, and had all KINDS of features the women's didn't have (like the interior pocket for spare helmet visors, and a little rubber-grommeted hole to the interior pocket for MP3 player heaphone wires). So Cleo 2.0 is kind of a happy medium... they've gone back to the simpler Pheonix styling, but with a bit more curve for women's bodies, and then added a few of the features of the men's model.
I ordered the white just cus it's so BLASTED hot here in Summertime, I wanted the lightest color jacket I could get my hands on.
bikergal 06-05-2007, 01:11 AM Laughs... I have small hands. I end up going to the kids section for gloves. I wear a kids medium or large depending on the glove. I wear dirt bike gloves since nothing else fits :idk:
Totally sucks but what am I gonna do??? :tt:
The Bandit Gurl 06-05-2007, 01:34 AM lol... I think we have the same bike, which means we have the same problem...
Yeah so I bought a male small black for alpine and they do not fit just right...
Which helmet do u have?? I need a new one this year (I have the Van Breaker now) but HJC whom I absolutely is my favorite helmet company (why do u ask???... idk) but I am not extremely crazy for any of this year's helmets.
I also got just a plain black jacket... can't really do anything else...
but its worth in the trouble... How could you say no to the Kawi Green?? Its so sexy!!!

A GF of mine has hands that teeny (I think she has like a size 3.5 ring size ). She wears kids dirtbike gloves, too.
I know some of the ladies' Icon gloves run really small (though I've noticed the fingers run REEEEEEALLY long).

A* Men's gloves run very small from what I've seen, and they go XS. I loved the look of the SP-2, but they must run 2-3 sizes smaller than other brands. Every brand fits different, and even different models in the same brand, so you'll have to try on a lot.
:sorry: To intrude on the ladies section. Hope I could help a little...
justpucky 06-05-2007, 08:04 AM I'll have to log back in tonight after I get home. I have three different manuf. of mens XS gloves. I found them all on e-bay. They are out there, do you mind posting your actual hand size? then I can compare it to mine and see if any of the gloves I have would work for you. Save you some trial and error.

exactly! and wow everyone, thanks for the help!
it's weird because my ring size isn't that small, but it's the length of my fingers and width of my palm. (I have stupidly small feet for my size too -- I'm 5'5 and a quarter and wear a 6.5 in womens).
Anyway, the women's small gloves seem to fit fine, but I like some of the men's gloves way better (and I guess since I don't want all my gear to be pink and purple, I'm a man at heart?) So again, any gloves that come in men's XS will probably fit fine, since the men's small is just a little too big. Unfortunately, the bike store I go to doesn't carry any, and we couldn't find any in the catalog in XS. I guess they have a limited selection
neebelung 06-05-2007, 11:44 AM (and I guess since I don't want all my gear to be pink and purple, I'm a man at heart?)
:baha: I guess we all are... (I have nothing against pink and purple stuff, it's just not for me  )
But welcome to the on-going dilemma we girls all face... *sigh*

I tried on alpine stars in a small in black, too, and they were a little too big.
I have a z1R Strike Blade helmet. I really like the pattern on it, and it looks sweet with my bike. And Neebelung (i haven't figured out how to double quote in a reply yet, LOL), I know the Cleo is prob more stylish, but I'm a fashionista at heart :idk:
justpucky 06-05-2007, 11:50 AM Ebay seach "Motorcycle Glove XS" or "Race Glove XS" You'll have to sort through the no fingered ones, but I've gotten some really good deals. New Enough sells all their XS gloves on Ebay becuse it's not worth stocking enough to list on the web site:

Yeah the z1R looks good... but its on the cheaper end of the scale for helmets... so how is the protection in it??

DiamondDallas 06-05-2007, 05:47 PM Yeah the z1R looks good... but its on the cheaper end of the scale for helmets... so how is the protection in it??
yeah it was less expensive, but i read a lot of good reviews on it. in this case it was purely vanity because i really didn't like a lot of the hjc helmets that actually had the right color scheme...the ones they had in the store to match were downright ugly. :puke: . unfortunately i have a small head too, and the selection in the store wasn't that great.
As far as the protection, it doesn't feel cheap (and i've felt some cheap ones..THH for example), and has padding similar to my old grey and black HJC CS 10. My sister just got a Scorpion EXO, and it's way more padded than either of our old HJCs, but was still reasonable at about $200, so I might upgrade if i find one i like. but i'd say it looks and feels like my hjc, but it's never been tested in a crash :idk:
