for you Buell guys.....
i like the looks and style of the Firebolt, but not too crazy about the
front/headlight assembly.
like the front/headlight assembly of the Lightning, but not too crazy about
the seat/tail section.
so my question is would it be easier and/or cost effective to:
put the head of the Lightning on the Firebolt
or
put the tailsection from the Firebolt on the Lightning?
hope that made sense and you guys understand what i'm gettin' @.
tia.

The front fairing conversion would probably be cheaper AND much easier... Then again, you'd have to replace the bars and whatnot, so might not be cheaper or easier... I'd do some searching... Start with www.americansportbike.com

Search on Bad Weather Bikers or SportTwin.com, The tail conversion is much simpler and cheaper. It is actualy quite a popular conversion for the S guys. If you buy a bolt and want to remove the S headlight assy a lot of things have to happen including relocating the ECM that is held behind the front fairing. For the S to go to the R tail it does not require any rewiring and it is fairly straight forward.

There is a guy on badweatherbikers dot com who put an R tail on his Lightning, and did a very good job with it. His screen name on there is Glitch. He could probably give you a great deal of information on how they did it.
There are many others who have done this swap.
The problem comes in fitting all of the electronics into the R tail, because the ecm, relays, and fuses are in the front fairing on the R model (Firebolt), and are under the seat on the S model (Lightning).
IMHO it is a dam good looking swap too.

If it was a different color and a 12 I'd be all over it.

Why for sale??
Have you posted over on badweatherbikers dot com? You may find a taker over there.
There is one person I can think of that might be interested, his screen name is New12R.. I think he may be looking for a 12, but you might want to check with him anyway. He lives in Georgia also. There is a pretty big group of Buell riders over there, you may be able to stir up some interest with them.
