Hey guys, i think most of you know me from hanging around wasting time for the past couple months. Well I finally got signed up for the MSF and bought myself a jacket and helmet yesterday. My MSF is July 21-22nd and I can't wait for it. As far as gear goes I got the Scorpion EXO-400 warhawk silver. The graphic has been discontinued so the price dropped to 105 at newenough.com. Thankfully it did otherwise I would have been sportin a non-Snell Fulmer. I got the Teknic Chicane Textile jacket in silver from motorcycle-superstore for 143 minus a five dollar rebate i found a code for on the internet. I will post pics next weekend once its all in and I am back home from Kansas City for a national electronics competition. I am going to get a pair of gloves from either a local bike shop or a pair of mechanix gloves or something. Just going to be wearing jeans for now with a pair of hiking boots.

Just for kicks think about taking along a roll of duct tape to put over the dangling ends of your bootlaces.

Y'don't want to do like I did and end up with a bootlace snagged around the shifter or a footpeg.

Great start to riding safely. Remember to always wear your safety gear. If you wear boots with long laces then just tuck them under the boot tongue. I was talking to a guy that droped his bike at a stop because when he went to put his foot down his laces got caught in his gear change and so, down he went. He had to ask for help just to get the bike off him. Had been riding for many years but, I'm sure that it won't happen again.

For the MSF you are req'd to a long sleeve shirt, helmet, gloves, and over the ankle boots. You may get by with the hi top tennis but I dunno.

a lot of times they will have helmets that you can use, but that didn't sound overly appealing to me. And I am within a couple weeks of gettin a bike, and both the helmet and jacket i was looking at were on sale right now, so i went ahead and got it.

When I was shopping for helmets I went to three shops and tried on helmets for an hour or so in each shop. I didn't trust ordering online.

I ended up buying a solid black Scorpion EXO-700. Best fit. I think you have to go try them on to find your fit. Lots of guys have written fit guides on this forum, look around.

I used a loaner helmet for MSF, the problem with them is they STIIIIINK after years of use in hot parking lots...

I love my helmet so far. I got up to about 55 today for the first time and it was nice and quiet. I was afraid I would hear a lot of wind noise, but none so far. Its also light enough that I dont notice any extra weight on my neck or head.
