Cant get it down!!! 06-25-2007, 07:05 PM OK so Imma Ford Guy...Love Mustangs, and have a Ford Explorer, and don't even get me started on the new Superduty F- 450, but recently I've been lusting after 1980's Camaro's and am this close(hold Index finger and Thumb a millimeter apart) from buying a 1988 Camaro Z-28 w/ a reinforced 700R4 Tranny and a Posi out back. With Polished aluminum heads in the 305cu.in. motor, and a Flowmaster exhaust, plus it's been recently repainted and upholstered.
Am I a cheatin' bastard for this? :idk:
Brizz 06-25-2007, 07:06 PM Nope but if you wanna muscle car get a Charger...
Cant get it down!!! 06-25-2007, 07:13 PM Nope but if you wanna muscle car get a Charger...
I wish...the only car that could derail me from either Ford or chevy is a 1969Dodge charger w/ 426 HEMI w/4 on the floor, a shiny orange paint scheme a big 01 on the side, playing Dixie when I hit the horn!!!!!!
mmmmmmhmmmm:cheers:

drewpy 06-25-2007, 07:21 PM I had a camaro with that body style and loved it, was a damn good car and took care of me
King Bob 06-25-2007, 07:43 PM chevy=chit let it lay. besides, WTF good is a 305 when you could have a more potent 350 in it? I"m ford all the way.
777Customs 06-25-2007, 07:43 PM IMO they all brake. I end up fixing them all. I have a dodge diesel and my dad and my friend both have ford power strokes. If you want to know what cars are reliable, ask a tech what cars he/she knows the least about and see's the least
But in the Truck world get this. The Ford diesel is owned by International. The Dodge is owned by Ford. The Chevy is owned by Isuzu. The Chevy transmission is Allison. The Ford might soon be CAT (rumor right now) and the Dodge may soon be Mercades-Benz. (also rumor right now). Toyota has recently surpassed GM as the most sold vehicle in the United States. Honda and Toyota are now working on their own diesel engines for their ever growing truck lines.
Kinda makes you wonder....

All I can afford @ this time. Bigger and better things to come in the future... Right now I'm a University student w/ not much of an income...since I wrecked my bike i'm dire need of sum kind of a fix... This'll do for now...also gonna see if I can finally get my bike fixed, so I can finally track it 100%!!!!
YEAH!!! Not only the rich get to play hard!!!
TOMMYTOM 06-25-2007, 08:00 PM Chevy all the way. Youre not a cheatin bastard for having good taste- but as mentioned above- the 305 sucks... no power- I had a 77 camaro with the 305. It ran good but as "muscle cars" go- the 305 is a joke. Get a 350- parts are cheap- the have all the potential in the world and they are one of the most reliable engines ever built. I am a mechanic- Dad is a mechanic- its what we do- and not to step on toes- his business was successful because of fords and dodges- yes chevy's break down too- but they are cheaper to fix ... Chevy is the only way to go as far as American made vehicles go. But the best reliability is gonna be Toyota, Nissan, Honda. Sad but true.
I should admit though- that new F450... is one sweet looking ride.
devilstonic 06-25-2007, 08:12 PM You cheating bast**d!! Where's the option for you're Tater's wh*re of an ex-wife!?
j/k ;)
I'm not biased either way. I'm actually looking to get rid of the mini van I drive now (yes I said mini van) and getting a truck (could be a Chevy, Dodge, Toyota..I'll buy what suits my needs best). It's not a bad thing to buy from another manufacturer if that's what you really want.

smileyman 06-26-2007, 08:17 AM In ye ole days all the "big three" had their problems and advantages. In the modern age they are all CadCam designed P.O.S but growing up in a auto shop where we worked mainly on Fords and Dodges set my mind for GM/Chevrolet products.
Rider 06-26-2007, 08:30 AM I'd rather push my Chevy that drive a Ford..... Unless its a Mustang GT500.
My first car was a 1970 Camaro Z28 with a built corvette engine. Red with black stripes. :dthumb:
1BadCBR 06-26-2007, 08:39 AM Chevy Avalanche vs. Ford F-150 why can't I just have both :idk:
TOMMYTOM 06-26-2007, 09:04 AM On a side note: Tater, has your x-wife ever seen our polls? lol You should send her links to them all- she scores high on everyone of them i've seen.

:whore:But I'm not tater's whore of an ex-wife...he is for cheating on Ford.
Therefore, there should be an option stating that he's tater's whore of an ex-wife.
;)

byron12 06-26-2007, 10:06 AM I am toyota or a honda guy myself the build quality speaks for its self, but toyota or honda doesn't make a giant diesel truck so [I] am going to get one of those someday.

riding triumph 06-26-2007, 10:32 AM I'm a ford fan myself. It's all about how hard I can work a truck. I have ran some Rangers pretty hard and they held up. If I'm rock crawling it's all about the Toyota, you just can't beat them. Now I just got my first diesel pickup, and for the best price I ended up with a '04 GMC Duramax 2500HD. I haven't got to expierence other diesels, but I must say the GMC is a powerhouse. When you get a truck this heavy though, stay out of the mud it will sink on ya. So don't think you can go anywhere...... But you can pull just about anything and that's what I want. :2cents:
OneSickPsycho 06-26-2007, 10:33 AM I don't give a fluck, but I gravitate more towards Ford.... I like Mustangs because 'Maro's look like ass. I generally think Ford has the best looking trucks... Other than that though, their cars suck. I do like Mopar trucks and some of the new car lines they have... GM trucks are pretty decent, but their cars suck. The jap manufacturers all put out something I like... I am just a vehicle whore apparently.

you're quite wrong.
Dodge is not owned by ford in any way shape or form at this time, Ford is not switching to the Cat motor, and Dodge has a contract through 2012 with Cummins for the diesel.
at one time Ford owned a share of Cummins, which they sold off, the chevy engine WAS made by izuzu once, but is now chevy's own design.
riding triumph 06-26-2007, 03:44 PM My '04 still has an Izusu badge on it. Atleast the block is Izusu, I would think.
rworkman98 06-26-2007, 03:44 PM I've always been a fan of GM / Chevy.

Correct Ford does not own Dodge. They did own the diesel engine up until 07. The rumor I heard about CAT comes from the techs at the dealership that heard this. (I hear as of 2010). Dodge has rumored about going to the new mercedes diesel when the federal restritions change. (I heard 2009-2010). This new Ultra-Low Sulfer diesel is only the first step. They will have a particulate filter and EGR system mandated in 08-09.
However you are right my previous comments are not quite accurate.
:sorry:
jnn7404 06-26-2007, 07:10 PM I love my silverado but I am torn between a new Z71 and the new toyota tundra.
Gas Man 06-26-2007, 09:30 PM I run both. I get discounts for both GM & Ford. I own 2 american vechicles and 2 american bikes.
