I would like to know the whole story.... before I put all the blame on the cop:readng:
naldge 06-27-2007, 08:23 PM i would to know the whole story as well...but puttin kids in a choke hold, when it look like his life was not in jeopardy :nonod:, if he felt he was in a bad position he should have stepped back and called back up
TOMMYTOM 06-27-2007, 09:30 PM over zealous cop/stupid kids- they should all be choked. :2cents: But what about the voice in the background? Mrs. dudley do-right... "oh and now you're gonna run from the cops..." SHUT UP YOU STUPID WHORE- MIND YOUR BUSINESS. somebody needs to choke her too. Fuq it -choke everybody on the sidewalk.
ptowntsi 06-27-2007, 10:14 PM i wouldn't have been above hitting the cops with a skateboard if i was in that situation and acting in the moment. that could have been near mob mentality had that been a group of 16-18yr old skateboarders instead of barely pubescent 14yr olds.
lowbudgetpimpin' 06-27-2007, 10:22 PM that happened just down the road from me...........stupid pigs.
PiZdETS 06-27-2007, 10:52 PM Cops LOVE to screw with skateboarders in my experience. I've personally seen a skateboarder get punched in the stomach for riding in a school parking lot at night.
Talking smack to cops is retarded but after a while when you're constantly getting harassed by them, I'd probably be the same way.
Ineffable 06-27-2007, 10:54 PM as said above I would like to hear the whole story because a lot of the times when people only have HALF of the incident on tape it can look really bad (lol think the movie National Security) who knows what they were doing before the cop showed up... I will admit the cop seemed a little overzealous but once again no one knows what happened before the camera came up. This is why I advocate tasers :P they look better in photographs than choke holds.
OneSickPsycho 06-27-2007, 10:54 PM I would like to know the whole story.... before I put all the blame on the cop:readng:
Me too... Then again, then again he chased after dude conveniently right after he stated that he got a picture of the cop choking the kid and then went after that chick cause she was talkin' chit...
I sense Douche-Baggery.
OneSickPsycho 06-27-2007, 10:56 PM Not to mention that didn't look like your run-of-the-mill police approved chokes either.
1BadCBR 06-27-2007, 11:59 PM  Freakin' kids, chokem' all..............
Carolina 06-28-2007, 08:04 AM naw man the cops went a little overboard dumb act on his part those kids were def not a threat he was soooooo wrong welcome to our world gettinf fukkked over nothing:idk: :idk: :idk: :idk: :idk:
that happened just down the road from me...........stupid pigs.
So what you're saying is you know the whole story and can post up details... :readng:
Seeing what the kid was doing before he got choked is the key. Was he taunting the cop and skating away as the cop yelled at him to quit skateboarding in an area where it isn't legal. The cop was an idiot for choking him though, should of just cuffed him on the ground. The kids with skateboards yelling at the cop while they surrounded him are dips**ts. If I was in that situation with moron kids surrounding me with potentially deadly weapons (skateboards hurt when you bash someone with them), I would of drawn my gun and told them to back away and get on their knees, then requested immediate back up instead of putting them in headlocks where the rest of the group can jump your a**.
This Video is posted on KTRH (http://www.ktrh.com/pages/videooftheday.html) a local news station... here's their story.
A police officer who appears to choke a skateboarder and put two others in a headlock in a video posted online has been put on administrative leave while police investigate, officials said.
Hot Springs Mayor Mike Bush said Tuesday that investigators have talked with witnesses who saw the officer, Joey Williams, stop the skateboarders on a downtown city sidewalk last Thursday. Skateboarding is banned in the area.
The video shows Williams apparently choking one of the skateboarders after forcing him to the ground, then later chasing and wrestling two others while holding them in a headlock.
"Unfortunately, the video shows it pretty good," Bush said.
Bush said he won't be sure of the city's next step until the investigation is complete. The video, taken by Matthew Jon McCormack and another unidentified skater, was posted Monday on YouTube, a popular Internet site.
Williams can be heard threatening one person with pepper spray if he moved, and several voices are heard asking why they were being arrested. One person can be seen running from Williams, and Williams later tells them they are fleeing and acting disorderly.
Williams did not answer a request through the department for an interview and did not respond to a phone message left at a home number in his name.
Police spokesman McCrary Means identified two of those arrested as McCormack, 21, and Skylar Nalls, 19, both of Hot Springs. McCormack faces a misdemeanor battery charge after allegedly pushing or striking a 67-year-old city employee during the altercation, Means said. Nalls was cited for skateboarding and faces misdemeanor charges of fleeing and obstructing governmental operations.
Four juveniles involved in the incident also face skateboarding citations and resisting arrest charges, Means said.
McCormack disputed many of the police allegations, especially his battery charge. He said he pulled on the city employee's arm after the man picked a girl off her feet in a choke-hold.
Hot Springs is a resort town about 50 miles west of Little Rock.
ShanMan14 06-28-2007, 09:48 AM First off, being put into handcuffs does not equal being arrested. Mostly, I wasn't there so I can't tell you with any certainty what happened and if it was just.
From the video it appears the officer lost his temper; good thing that never happens to regular citizens! I don't know the circumstances, I wasn't there but he's on administrative leave and that's the correct thing to do.
HealingBec 06-28-2007, 09:48 AM This is sad
OneSickPsycho 06-28-2007, 10:21 AM My thing is... If I am going to choke a 13yr old kid... It's damn sure not going to be a boy... :wtf:
Danase 06-28-2007, 11:22 AM I would like to know the whole story.... before I put all the blame on the cop:readng:
Amen to that! We had this discussion on another forum. NOBODY knows what that retarded kid was doing beofre the cop got there. And for one he is not "choking" the kid. He is keeping his hands on the kids throat so the kid stays still. One kid is shown running away when the cop tells him to come here so who knows what the first kid did.
Back _Marker 06-28-2007, 01:05 PM err, it looks like the cop was over his head and the kids where being idiots. they most likely knew skateboarding was banned. when i boarded in banned areas, we usually ran when security shows up.
why the f*ck would the boarders stick around when they knew they were in the wrong? the cop was justified in stopping them, unfortunately, he didn't have enough zip ties to detain the other kids.
this will go either way. i've used my board in fights. the cop may have felt outnumbered and threatened. even a 13 year old can swing a board to da back o da hed.

exactly why I would of had my gun on out and these f**kers on their knees instead of trying to chokehold them and risking taking a board to the head with a bunch of kids surrounding him. There are a couple moments in the video where they are completely around the cop and they could of just overtaken him quickly and he would of been a vegetable....
airforceranger49 06-28-2007, 06:21 PM this really an go both ways.... the biggest problem is that no one will ever know for sure what the kid was doing before the cop showed up... its his word verses theirs.... so in this case, a picture is worth a 1000 words, and he prolly will end up being "let go"..... now did he use excessive force??? most likely.... from what you see in the video, it looks like he lost his temper, which is a BIG no no... first off... you can not be arrested for being in violation of a city ordinance... u can be ticketed... so when he told the girl "ur in violation of a city ordanace, and ur under arrest too"... he was completely in the wrong. 2nd off... the kids shouldnt have been sassing the cop... but that alone is not enough for an arrest... now threatning comments would have been... but them saying " he was just riding a skateboard " is not enough to warrant arrest... that and as an officer, if someone is sassing you, you HAVE to warn them that if they dont comply, they will be arrested... which i never heard.
now as far as the kids go... they should also be charged for resisting arrest and interfeering with a police officer, but those charges will prolly end up being dropped...
bottom line, from what you can see in the video, both were in the wrong... the police officer didnt follow proper protocol while the arrests were being made, and from what you can see he was using excessive force (not saying he shouldnt have been using any force), but for one, choke holds are a BIG no no, a knee on the chest would have been the proper way to restrain the kid... as were the headlocks, he should have used an arm lock, and done a leg sweep to restrain them to the ground...
i would like to see the original video tho, cuz it looks like the one on you tube has been chopped and edited... so unless the original comes out one day, we will never know conclusively what EXACTLY happened ....just my :2cents: from my past 6 years of police work
mondos06cbr1000 06-28-2007, 08:27 PM skate boarding teenagers are most of the time from my experiences idiots and punks...trust me i new enough of them in highschool.
But, as a soon to be police officer I would not have acted that way.
But at the same time, who knows what those kids were doing, and they definately should not have tried to get involved...they get what they deserve
Captain Morgan 06-28-2007, 11:58 PM Wow, dumbass kids, if you ask me. The way they were acting, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the kid that was choked on the ground was fekking with the cop. That video only tells one side of the story, but from what I can tell, the kids were causing the majority of the problems. They seemed like they were trying to make a point that they were "only being arrested for skateboarding". Somehow, I get the feeling they were out there skateboarding for the sole purpose of getting arrested and making a scene about it.

:iagree but yeah kids were wrong also I say everyone just forget the whole thing kids learned a lesson and the cop def did i'm sure he has a family he needs to feed made a bad mistake but thankfully no one got hurt this time: :dthumb:
