ah, finally a really good one. this is up there w/ my top five questions. A real thinker. after all, who doesn't love music? You meet your soul mate. However, there is a catch: Every three years, someone will break both of your soul mate's collar bones with a Crescent wrench, and there is only one way you can stop this from happening: You must swallow a pill that will make every song you hear-- for the rest of your life-- sound as if it's being performed by the band Alice in Chains. When you hear Creedence Clearwater Revival on the radio, it will sound (to your ears) like its being placed by Alice in Chains. If you see Radiohead live, every one of their tunes will sound like it's being covered by Alice in Chains. When you hear a commercial jingle on TV, it will sound like Alice in Chains; if you sing to yourself in the shower, your voice will sound like deceased Alice vocalist Layne Staley performing a Capella (but it will only sound this way to you). Would you swallow the pill? I'm quoting the question from the book, But before we get the wild card answers i want to point out that the SOUL MATE is the only person you will be truly happy with ever, regardless of whether you marry them or not. it will either be the person you do marry and love forever, or the person you DONT marry and wish you would have, still knowing their collar bone is getting shattered by a wrench if you dont swallow the pill. one of the things i love about music is its diversity, so this is gonna be tough for me. i gotta think about it. Its hard to feel sympathetic for a woman (or man) you are meant to be with, you're perfect match, considering you most likely haven't met them yet (or if you have this may be easier for you).

Woah. Being a musician, I really have no answer for that. All I can say is, how bad of a break? :idk:

Yes I would swallow the pill. I am not a big fan of music and alice in chains wouldn't annoy me all that much. If it would of been someone like Enya, then I would have to think about it a little harder.

Soul mate of course. As great as music is and as huge a part of my life as it is...having the person that is perfect for me in every way could make up for a horrendous caterwauling coming from everywhere. If it sucks really bad, she's your soulmate, she'll understand when you stab your eardrums out with pencils and have her take a sign language course with you. :dthumb: edit; I took the breaking of her collarbones thing as a deal breaker. If someone repeatedly breaks them over and over again it will have long term physical and mental effects which will deteriorate her and the relationship, so if you want the soulmate the pill is a must...anyone disagree?

collar bone. on a scale of 1 to ten, 1 being a hairline fracture ten being a compound femur or spine fracture, its about an eight. I can only assume she will be struck from behind, so the trauma will most likely not be compound. She can expect severe internal hemorrhaging, loss of functionality of not only her arms, but most of her neck, about 3-4 months of recovery time, give or take depending on severity and physical therapy, and permanent damage is likely, especially after each occurance.

Oh screw that, the pill definately. i like Alice in Chains, but for the rest of your life that would get on anyones nerves. BTW NTS, just curious but did it say the extent of the break in the actual book or are you just saying that for simplicities sake?

This is probably the one that provokes the most thought out of all of these hypothetical... Not because of the situation laid out, but rather how long until the clever headlines run out? Seriously, finding your soul mate... especially when you are as flucked up as I am... is a crazy hard thing to do... That being said, how, if you really cared about this person, could you allow them to go through such horrible pain... I like Alice In Chains... Not enough to want everything to sound like them, but whatever... I could deal with it... Just avoid music at all costs... It would be well worth it for all the group sex with barely legal teens I would be having... Having a total whore of a soul mate who loves young women as much as I do is a sure thing...

A Soul Mate is a once and a life time thing, and just one day with your soul mate is worth a lifetime of loneliness. Now can you imagine a lifetime with your soul mate. :dthumb: Glad I've found mine...

I miss read this... I thought it said Both YOU and your soul mates collar bones... not Both of your soulmates collar bones... in that case... I'd take the pill.... I couldn't stand seeing my girl in that pain... knowing I could have prevented it...

I hear goat milk is good for healing bones. :idk: But I don't have a real answer. I couldn't focus after the "Crescent wrench," part. Who comes up with this!

Oh, I've noticed the pattern... I would think that after a while you are going to run out of movie sequel references... Hands off my soul mate pal... Unless yours is as hot as mine... Then maybe we can swap for a weekend or something... I'm game.

My soulmate is the body of Jessica Alba with an Ashley Blue appetite for kinky sex and Tina Feys witty personality. It's called Perfection. :dthumb:
