Hey all my name is Jordan, Im from colorado springs. I am new here, but thought I would post as I remember you reading this forum way before I purchased my first bike.

In the last year or so ive put a few hundred miles on my friends 06 gsxr 600. Fun little bike... got used to the power... taking rights on it etc... good bike to learn on.

Well two months ago about I made the leap and purchased myself my first bike. The only thing in my budget that I liked was a 2005 kawasaki z750s with 32 miles it. Ive put just over 2200 on it in just about a month and a half... I ride it everywhere.

Well heres the story:

So I was flying up i-25 going north... I needed gas so I pulled off onto baptist road.

I decided to go right to go to shell and grab some gas. Sure enough I speed off of the light and pass a state trooper. I figured I would haul ass up baptist road. So I click down and romp up to 90 mph. The worst happened.

They are doing work on baptist road. They decided to take the eastbound lane and move it to the center lane for traffic work. Well I did not notice this as the cones still lined up to show my lane going straight. Sure enough at 90 mph I fly off the side of the road into the construction area. My bike hits a durt mound and the bike and I fly 15 feet into the air with me upside down holding the handle bars. The bike lands 30 feet later with me crashing down on top of it. Thats the last I remember. I could swear to you it was a dream.

From what I am told the bike slid 210 feet and I slid 150. I managed, while unconcious, to dodge nails, concrete chunkes, cones, poles, and a concrete barrier. I didnt even roll I just slid.

I came out with bad road rash and a concussion that could have put me in a-coma. If my helmet was not minimum snell approved I would be a dead man. If I had rolled I would have sprained or broken a bone. The EMT's, the doctors, the cops, the nurses, and the chaplain all do not understand how I did not snap my neck in half, break my back, break a bone, or atleast need stitches or a skin graph.

A wrecked on my bike at ninety miles per hour, I came out with little to nothing but in a ****load of pain, and my bike still turns over and is ridable. I recieved a careless driving ticket for 2 points and 58 dollars. The cop took a look at me and decided I had pretty much learned my lesson... and oh boy... life is fragile to me now... more than anything.

Talk about lucky. What ever the **** saved I would like to know and meet and thank. All I could think about while I was knocked out was the love of my life Morgen, and when I was going to wake up next to her. She saved me, the thought of her gave me the strength and hope to come to, and her touch to me right now is nothing less than amazing

Some 30 people said I should be an absolute dead man, I mean the 9:1 odds saying I should die. What the ****. Im lucky and im counting my lucky stars right now.

This happened Sunday night at 11:30pm. I cant explain to you all how bad I want to get back on and ride. Thats all I want to do right now is just freaking cruise... I never thought I'd want back on if I wrecked... but let me tell you right now I just want to hop on hit the starter... and just ride.

But anywase... I figured I would share this here... and that I am ok... and I still love biking.

What is the current state of your bike?

Yes it was an idiot foolish move... and luckily I decided to wear a lid.

My from upper fearings are smashed... and its scratched up pretty bad. No leaks and still turns over.. and it ripped the passanger rigth hand handle bar off.

Otherwise it came out pretty good. Talk about getting an education

Pretty much moving right now is a wonderful experience. but im out and about trying to keep from atrophy and muscle tightness

Yea... im getting the bike out of inpound this weekend. I get payed thursday also.

Im going to grab myself a new helmet and probably a steel padded icon or jrocket.

The fact that i didnt die is a fluke... and a lesson. Ill be riding in gear from now on. And im thankful my wonderful girl was not on the back

The amount thats been on my mind I broke down over it all. While I was in the hospitol I broke down crying just thinking about the worst of it all. And what would I have done if I had killed someone, if I had died... or whatever

Luckily nobody was around and I went off into the dirt off the road. And if there was a kid on a rural road at 11:30 at night... his parents suck lol. I know what your saying though. Ive ran through everything... and sweet jesus am a one lucky idiot.

the 750s has way more torque and a huge bottom end. Its got a pretty high compression. Its the zx10 motor sleaved to 750cc's. The suspension is nice but the seat sucks (ass cramps). I did a 1v1 against a gsxr six and I put about 7 bike lengths on him in an 8th mile.

EDIT: hehe just noticed your sig. nice bike :D

I just put a Power commander on and it added a lot more to the bottom end.
Lets just say I beat a an 01 GSXR750, an 05 CBR1000RR, a 99 ZX7 and a 01GSXR600 off the line all at the same time.:dthumb: Hard to keep the front wheel down on an aggresive start though.

That's a amazing story. You are lucky. Very lucky. I love the part where you say that the thought of your loved one kept going thru your mind while you were out and in the hospital. Its funny what we use in our minds to get thru something like that. Props to you for learning a hard lesson. Don't let it or let anybody else tell you not to ride. Do it and tell your story. Maybe you will save somebody else from going thru it. Got any pics of all of this???

If I didn't learn anything from this than I should not get back on a bike. Period. I almost died and it could have much worse.

A night in the hospitol and a few prayers later ive done more growing up than I could have imagined... and thats not me just saying it to myself its being as honest as possible.

And as for the power commander... what brand?

There is only one Dyno Jet. Techlusion makes a TFI but it is not nearly as good and it doesnt plug into the OEM connectors. You have to wire tap the lines.

Ok good news and bad news.

The good news. Progressive totalled the bike and payed the entire loan off. The bad... I need a new bike.

Pictures to come... took some yesterday on the girlfriends cam, but she's got it atm. It looks good, but upon close inspection its in the ****ter.

All of my pegs broke. My main pegs are handing by the break and shift assembly. My handle bars are completely bent with the right electronic assembly smashed. The frame was actually bent and the forks crushed... not bent... but crushed.

Yay... im going to go check out some used r1's

Dude, from reading this post you're a newb with a month and a half and 2200 miles riding experiance. You've already had one bad accident that should have killed you on a 750, you said a 2006 Gixxer 600 was a 'fun little bike' and 'a good bike to learn on'. You own no gear at this point, which hopefully for your sake will be fixed before you ride again. And you want an R1? Think about it man, that is way too much bike. I'm not saying I'm the best rider out there, but I've been on the street for 8 years, and the last 4 on sportbikes. I've done a cross country trip on the Harley, and several 1000 mile weekend trips on a sportbike. I've ridden about 15,000 sportbike miles, another almost 25,000 Hrley miles. I ride a 2005 Gixxer 600 and a 2006 SV 1000. My dad has a Gixxer 1000, and it is too much bike for me. I can ride safer, more comfortably, and faster on my 600 because I can use the bike the way it was meant to be used, compared to having a 1000 and having a bike that will overpower the rear tire on the street or wheelie out of every turn. Knowing that you can twist the throttle without spinning the tire or bringing the front end up will give you one less thing to worry about, and at your experiance level you need less stuff to deal with, not more. I have never yet had a problem keeping up with the 1000's, I can out brake and out turn them every time. Think about it, 600's are more fun, cheaper, and easier to ride. Plus when you do get some time in and know how to ride there's nothing like running down a squid on a 1000 and pulling away on your 600.

maybe keep your eyes open more and when you see cones up ahead, slow down. ever heard "slow for the cone zone"... even if the lanes hadn't been switched you have NO IDEA what to expect when road construction is going on.

What were you wearing in the wreck anyways? jeans and a hoodie?

i put my money on the 1k. believe me when i say that the 1k handles much better than you think. the 600 may rev higher, but will be switching gears more often than the 1k.

from what i've seen, most newbies are killed by unattentive cagers, not by their engine size. i would say that 600 on up is not a good trainer bike.

True 1k sportbikes I dont doubt can handle (busa not included tats nuttin but a echo trip). What I mean is a 1k is more likely to over power a tire exiting compared to a 600. I'm not sure how fast you go thru the twisties in you area but the twisties I have near here n close by I dont need nuttin but 2nd n 3rd so  and 3rd is when I'm putting along. Dont get me wrong I know there are some skilled riders that can handle a 1k w/o issue. Unfortunately those are not whom we direct these commects towards as I think you know who we are talking about.

I still dont think anyone needs the power of a 1k on the street. Yes a 600 could use more torque on the lower end. not 400cc's n 50hp more tho

But to each their own. I am trying to say is people need to get bikes they can handle and not one they can grow into 'when' they do learn to ride. Thats how we end up in the papers

i can care less what some newbie purchases. they can buy a harley for all i care. but it's funny to see a newbie flip over a brand new 1k at the dealer's parking lot.

n00bs get in way over their head b4 they even get a bike most of the time. The ones I seen here inquiring about what to get n whatnot is a true rarity if we all think about it. Most go out n get wtf ever their buddies are riding/wrecking and go n do the same ****.

And one never tames a 1k lol and anyone who thinks they've tamed any bike is a accident waiting to happen. Hell for that matter we all are because the odds are against us. Anyhow ride safe to you all. :dthumb:
