Need4Speed 12-02-2004, 11:08 AM So my bar car is in the shop getting inspected, and that leaves us with 1 car and the Kat. CJD went down a realtor to take some paperwork down, so I was home with Jesse. I get the call that she needs some more paperwork, and since her dad was able to watch Jesse, guess what I get to do..Freeze my arse off!!! :D
Haven't ridden in about 2 weeks or so, so it was about time since its now december. Im all bundled up in sweat shirt, jacket, gloves, etc. The Kat fired right up,so you know she was itching to stretch her legs. Wasnt that long of a ride..only about a combined hour or so including stopping to drop off the paperwork and have a smoke w/ CJD.
By the time I got there, I was pretty much frozen stiff from the waste down and the neck up..and the same when I got back home. But it was worth it to get out and ride, possibly for the last time this season. Although knowing me, I'll find some reason b/4 winterizing to get out one last time. It was good to get out again and blow off some steam. I hit some twisties on the way home and practiced up some trying some of the techniques we've been talking about in here in other threads. Especially a long sweeping on ramp to a highway. It worked great, steady open throttle, looking thru the corner, it was great!! I was so proud of myself. Doesnt take much for me..and even hit triple digits a the highway. Yeah it was great.
Oh well, thats my story and im stickin to it...just thought I'd share it with ya'll.
ShanMan14 12-02-2004, 11:46 AM I was gonna take the biek this morning, but it was 29 and frost all over. That scares me, the tires get no traction and I don't need to learn to powerslide when it's 29 degrees out.
No Worries 12-02-2004, 12:11 PM It was 13 this morning and I haven't ridden since Thanksgiving. We had 5 inches of snow and it usually melts away several days later. But with this cold snap (-31 in Gunnison) the snow is still there. Are freeway on/off ramps really the only corners you have, or are they the only high-speed corners you take?
GSXR1000DJ 12-02-2004, 03:25 PM I finally picked my bike up today and rode for a bit. It was a bit cold but it felt so good. hehehe Will be looking forward to riding one more time before i park her for the winter. :)
bumblebee 12-02-2004, 03:31 PM Looks like it is cold everywhere today...It was about 38 or so when I left this morning. But it did hit 60 today, I think. I lubed the chain last night before I covered the Bee so I took it for a quick blast before picking up the girls. It may be time to zip the gore-tex into the jacket. I already got the full gloves out. Looking forward to the Toys for Tots ride this weekend!!
Need4Speed 12-02-2004, 04:24 PM supposed to not snow yet or rain for a bit..last i heard..might be able to get one in on sunday morning... DJ, u up for that? an early morning ride b/4 u go to work?
fatburg 12-02-2004, 04:34 PM I think I'm gonna brave the low 20's in the morning so I can enjoy the low 50's at lunch. We'll see, I might wake up and sensibility has beat the idea out of me :bash:
hondaguy 12-02-2004, 05:29 PM I don't really mind riding in the cold either, but we sure do get some funny looks from the general public when its 40 degrees outside and we're riding a bike!
They just can't understand...
GSXR1000DJ 12-02-2004, 07:39 PM supposed to not snow yet or rain for a bit..last i heard..might be able to get one in on sunday morning... DJ, u up for that? an early morning ride b/4 u go to work?
H3!! yes. Lets go. :dthumb:
stevnmd 12-03-2004, 05:17 AM Eh, I've ridden when it was 14 degrees outside. Actually, it was 28 when I left the house and 14 when I stopped at my destination 2.5 hours later. That was last winter. The heated grips on the VFR were SO appreciated then. :)
I'll ride so long as there's no ice on the ground... I'm not going to let the temps stop me. No matter the temp, I'd rather be on two wheels than four...
twisty 12-03-2004, 07:09 AM Last year some of us WOS guys were racing in 30 degree weather.... Not fun...

bumblebee 12-04-2004, 12:53 PM Then they'll call me a mean southern name :nono:
Aw, but you see, I have been called a lot of names, some of them are true ;) but labels are what they call you, but I'd rather be called a dirty southern name than be a Yankee
Mudpuppy 12-04-2004, 11:37 PM Weather is just another thing that is.. It just is. Why are people always beotching about it - in the Summer it is "too hot" and in the Winter it is "too cold". Wah wah. So foucking what. Deal with it. I don't care about weather. If it is warm I ride. If it is cold I kill ***** in the woods, i.e. that is hunting to those that suddenly thought I was a serial killer messed up in the head and it all of a sudden made sense - sorry tough luck not true. Weather is weather. It is never perfect - oh except those awesome days where you plan a ride and it is just like 70ish and partly sunny and all good. Man I love those days. Otherwise I just do what I can based upon whatever the weather is doing. Cold weather just makes me appreciate the summer more.
Need4Speed 12-05-2004, 01:10 AM I have to yet to make fun of any hill billies from the south nor the red necks. LOL Just kidding all. I used to live there as well.
