If so what model and what do you think of it? Have owned a number of Bologna models over the years, from supersports to superbikes to sport touring. Possibly my favorite make. They've never let me down, and have always over delivered. marko138 08-02-2007, 08:35 AM Have owned a number of Bologna models over the years, from supersports to superbikes to sport touring. Trip 08-02-2007, 08:47 AM :iagree: I really wanted a Monster before I got the 600rr, I actually had the money saved for one. Then I got this dumb idea to buy a rock and a band of metal, yes yes I am idiot. I may still get one at a later time. Have something for more around town use that is comfortable and better suited for 2 up, but keep the CBARRR because I love it. fpzx10 08-02-2007, 10:22 AM Nice assessment. Nice little bike and the SSS is cool but I hate the two pipes on the side. There has to be something aftermaket better than the OEM setup. PlayfulGod 08-02-2007, 10:32 AM http://www.ducatimonster.org/featured/2004aug/debut8.jpg Tats sick But I liked the full of custom I seen at the gap better. Custom skull paint, 2 barrel side draft, lots of chrome n billet, it was a sweet chop. Trip 08-02-2007, 10:32 AM My buddy Ray here at work has an 05 Monster 800. I love them black ones with the red tube frame. Really sharp lookin' byron12 08-02-2007, 05:59 PM I like the red with white stripe I like the dual pipes too. The earlier ones had the pipes on both sides but they drag during hard cornering supposedly.... Mr. Pink 08-16-2007, 02:20 PM I had a 748, yellow, biposto, FbF exhaust and some tuning... loved it... sold it cause I never rode... I ended up buying the Busa when the finances presented the opportunity to purchase another bike because I thought I would ride more and didnt want to pay the Ducati maintenance. I was wrong... I rode just as little with the Busa as I did with the duc. Busa is gone, now I am waiting a season and getting either a monster or the 1098... Im leaning more towards the monster and getting another 748 or older 996 as a track bike.... :) but yeah, I have had a duc oldetymebiker 08-16-2007, 03:13 PM St2 and the DB4..both two valves. St2 Watercooled 944 motor..bought it with 4k on it, sold it the next year with 17k on it...outside of one bad relay ($11.00 ..part in stock) and a bad tank of gas (water) I had zero issues with it. The db4 has the 904 aircooled 2 valve motor...dead reliable, easy to work on and a nice ride......... Scissors 10-29-2007, 06:59 PM Yes. Great little bike there, awesome fun, perfect for in the city like that. little? Scissors 10-30-2007, 05:20 AM little? Yes. Those Monsters are tiny. My wife and I went past the bike shop this weekend and I was pointing out the one I want (and the 1098) and the first thing she and I both noticed is how much easier it would be for her to get onto it. :willy: pickle.of.doom 10-30-2007, 04:13 PM Yeah, small, light, quick, agile. Perfect for city driving, like an SV650 sorta. If I didn't live in the sticks I would own one in a minute. hondaRRguy 10-31-2007, 06:24 AM I owned a 620 ie for a couple of years and it was a fun little bike to sport around on short trips. Not too much pick up but went well. It looked and sounded great when I added the high up remus pipes. Made it sound much bigger and just looked a lot meaner. Rider 10-31-2007, 07:45 AM A frined of mine has a MOnster 800. The thing is gutless, but its fun for a sunday afternoon cruise. ElmoHowe 04-26-2008, 09:59 AM 1995 900SS Black/Chrome It's my first street bike, I bought it in Dec. took the MSF course and been riding ever since... medic001918 04-26-2008, 09:33 PM Well since this thread was brought back from the dead...I ride a Ducati. I have a 2008 1098S. I love it. My previous bike was a 2002 Honda RC51 and the Ducati is superior in every way. I love it. This bike has a lot of soul. It's a bike that makes me want to ride it every chance I get and it makes me just want to keep doing stuff to it. So far, I couldn't be happier. I'm hoping that the next bike I add to my garage is going to be the Hypermotard. Shane zoey 04-27-2008, 12:06 AM I might as well chime in. I, like medic 1918, am a medic (medic4514) I have a '01 748 (purchased new in '02). Only has about 11k on it and I baby the crap out of it. It's spotless clean and has never seen water. Gets hand-wiped down after every single ride. Some bits added: Arrow 54mm 1/2 system, Marchesini 10 spokers....... I bought the bike because it was beautiful. I paid for it before I had even rode one. I'm pretty sure that I will never sell it. It's too pretty. Stunt4Life 04-27-2008, 06:35 PM sport 1000s. real nice, tons of torque and over all great build quality. All true! http://www.ducatiomaha.com/images/jarel1098_1.jpg ScottSellersUNR 07-08-2008, 03:01 PM only negative to a Duc i could come up with is its crappy short service intervals.. when they say the new ones are lower maintiance at 7,500mile valve adjustments.. would like to see the desmodronic stuff go away to see 25K valve adjustments isntead... You couldnt take a Duc from Washington to bike week in daytona and back without getting a valve adjustment in between. I dont wanna do valve adjustments twice a year. Outside of that the 1098 is an amazing bike. The GP9 will be the first GP bike with a all Carbon fiber frame.. they are ognna have to add weight to make it meet the minimum weight requirement.. will let em get good weight distribution. I am curious if Honda or anyone is ognna be mathcing it or keeping up in 09. sfarson 07-08-2008, 10:39 PM A little perspective... Vast majority do not take Ducati Superbikes on multi-thousand mile trips. Nor are Asian liter bikes often taken on the same. There are better bikes for crossing multiple state lines. That said, some do take the 2V Multistrada far, and I used to ride my 4V ST4s far. 2 valve syncs are straightforward and not exorbitant. Additionally, after one or two valve check intervals, they tend to stay in spec. There are ST4s riders with 60,000, 80,000 miles on their odometers and haven't had the valves fall out of spec since the 12 or 18K service, and they aren't even checked anymore. | |
