hondaguy 12-06-2004, 01:24 PM I did a search on this topic, but didn't come up with anything, so I thought I'd ask, and see what everyone thinks is the greatest movie to hit the big screen, ever? Which one do you watch again and again, and never get tired of seeing?
Classic? maybe an action flick? horror? drama?
One of my favorites would have to be the Terminator series. I've always liked those. The Green Mile, with Tom Hanks and Michael Clarke Duncan , was awesome as well. These may not be considered the greatest of all time, but they are few of my favorites I could watch anytime.
Need4Speed 12-06-2004, 01:30 PM TOP GUN !!! Greatest movie ever made!!
but also I like, the whole 9 yards, most of the van damme movies, and the Star Wars series as well. I loved the Green Mile, great great movie!!
3BoyzNaBike 12-06-2004, 01:31 PM Green Mile is a great movie. I have yet to see a movie with TOm Hanks that I did not like.
Hmmm for me...my all time fave would have to be..... Dazed & Confuzed! Yep that's right. Love watching about a bunch of high school kids on their last of school partying it up. Now why couldn't I have been a a child of the 70's instead of BORN in the 70's? :D
GSXR1000DJ 12-06-2004, 01:31 PM Titantic made the most money ever. :)
BikesR4Girls 12-06-2004, 01:44 PM Funniest movie...Son in Law with Pauly Shore
The southern belle in me loves Gone with the Wind
Forrest Gump is a good one and so was Ghost
Pigface1 12-06-2004, 03:53 PM the Big Lebowski.
I hated it the first time I saw it. Now I've seen it probably 50 times and still catch something new everytime I watch it. Funniest movie ever.
"If you mark that frame an 8, you're entering a world of pain."
Pigface1 12-06-2004, 03:56 PM Titantic made the most money ever. :)
If you adjust it to today's dollars, it's still Gone With the Wind, with Star Wars in second. . I think. I've never seen GWTW, though, and hopefully I never will. lol
GSXR1000DJ 12-06-2004, 03:58 PM If you adjust it to today's dollars, it's still Gone With the Wind, with Star Wars in second. . I think. I've never seen GWTW, though, and hopefully I never will. lol
With the adjustment being done, Titantic passed it last year. Saw that on ET Tonight. :)
Need4Speed 12-06-2004, 04:10 PM The Rocky series was great too!! although Rocky V was pretty lame, the other 4 were great!
bumblebee 12-06-2004, 04:20 PM With the adjustment being done, Titantic passed it last year. Saw that on ET Tonight. :)
Money and sales really don't tell the story. For example, anyone out there remember the VEGA ???
Pigface1 12-06-2004, 04:23 PM With the adjustment being done, Titantic passed it last year. Saw that on ET Tonight. :)
Are you talking about box office, or total sales?
GSXR1000DJ 12-06-2004, 04:59 PM Are you talking about box office, or total sales?

Gas Man 12-06-2004, 05:22 PM I think Bee is onto something else....many great movies never did "the best" sales
N4S is right...Top Gun is awesome! I think Armegedeon (sp?) is right up there as well...

I don't think anyone ever said they were the best movies.
Pigface1 12-06-2004, 05:45 PM Internet Movie Data Base has the Godfather rated number one by the users, with over 100,000 votes.
http://www.imdb.com/chart/top
A lot of hardcore movie buffs will say Kirosawa's "Seven Samurai" was hands down the best movie ever.
Still, my favorite to watch over and over is Big Lebowski. "This is not Viet Nam, Smokey, there are rules involved."
GSXR1000DJ 12-06-2004, 05:59 PM They're wrong. . it's #6 when adjusted with Gone With the Wind #1, and Star Wars at #2 by $200+ millioin.

Well Titantic is still #1 with $600,788,188 at the US Box Office and $1,835,400,000 by Global Box Office. Thats a h3ll of alot of money in todays dollors without adjustments. LOL :)

Give me Dr. No, the first and best 007 movie. It has the real James Bond (Sean Connery) and Honey Ryder (Ursula Andress). Enough said.

It has so many funny things in it that hardly any "normal" comedy just seems like a waste of time anymore. I mean, it is nonstop hilarious.
"Are you employed, Mr. Lebowski?"
"Uh. . . employed?"
"You don't go out dressed like that on a week day to look for a job, do you?"
"Is this a. . what day is this?" lmfao

pickle.of.doom 12-07-2004, 12:51 PM I think as far as the trilogy's go, the vacations have to be the best. Naked Gun's were pretty damn good too :)

pickle.of.doom 12-07-2004, 12:53 PM But like the masses here are saying there are too many movies out there that capture us in one way or another.
For sure, every mood has a favorite too.
Stand by me. That was a good flick.
Tippy 12-07-2004, 03:37 PM Too Many movies to mention. Top Gun is up there so are the Rocky movies...(Rocky III was my favorite). The Godfather is another really good movie that I saw mentioned. Not one of the best movies but one of my favorites was Fandango with Kevin Costner :dthumb:
Just had to post again, cuz if you think about all the movies that stood the test of time. Wizard of Oz, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Some movies that I grew up with that i'm now pushing to my kids, Sixteen Candles, Breakfast Club, Stand by Me (mentioned) and of course the good horror flicks. Jason, Freddy, Micheal.......
The best and most important should not be forgotten: "COOL AS ICE"

Pigface1 12-08-2004, 11:17 AM Any list that has Singin' in the Rain on it is pure crap. I can see Citizen Kane as number one, though.
However, that has to be just a U.S. movie list b/c not having anything by Kirosawa on there is blasphemous.
Pigface1 12-08-2004, 11:18 AM Forest Gump

I don't know, Titanic Tits 12 was pretty good.

I like all of those you chose, especially super troopers. Anchorman, 40 Year old Virgin also up there with super troopers. I just watched Ace Ventura Pet Detective on TV yesterday and suprisingly it was still kinda funny. The Maxrix series was not bad either. LOTR series was long but for a audio/visual standpoint was awesome. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind was also a good film
I just bought casino on DVD, and Goodfellas has always been in my collection. But my favorite all time movies are Godfather 1 & 2, with Godfather 2 as my favorite.
Godfather 3 was a piece of garbage. :puke:

And the Chinese guys that always wanted to race John Cussac(sp?) with the one Chinese guy that learned how to speak English by watching the Wide World of Sports and commentating everything with the voice of Howard Cossell(sp?)

snadamo 01-09-2006, 11:58 AM I just saw Grandmas Boy on Saturday. IF you like Nick Swardson, and Adam Sandler style comedy(he did produce it), then youll probably like it. There really is no solid story, but I was entertained. I think Nick Swardson is funny. IF you dont like any of those elements, then youll probably walk out, like the older couple that was in there.
