Bro, I'm so sorry that this happened to you. There is this guy I worked with that said when he was a kid he used to steal bikes all the time. At the time he thought it was a fun game to do. He doesn't do it anymore, but it pissed me off just listening to a prior bike thief and I can only imagine how many people's lives he has hurt. I'd be super pissed to if someone took something that I worked hard for.
TOMMYTOM 09-04-2007, 05:50 PM Yeah its happening everywhere... here in Houston when my Kawi was stolen the cops didn't even come out to make a report- they took the report over the phone- "vehicle theft hotline" and gave me a case #. Its so common here, that they set up a hotline!
PlayfulGod 09-04-2007, 05:54 PM Find em n hang em by their nads!!!!
Grafixx01 09-04-2007, 06:00 PM At least your not 6miles from the Mexico - American border where most bikes are stolen and end up in Mexico, hardly ever to be recovered. They actually had a group of guys going around in a rented U-Haul stealing bikes and taking truck-loads over to Mexico.

No. :cursin:
rlyoung73 09-05-2007, 12:00 AM :chill: Well, once a majority of bikers start carrying guns and start turning them bike thieves into buriel plots that's when someone (legislation) is going to do something about bikes being sold in Mexico for 1/3rd of the bikes actual price. I have an alarm on my bike, but I am now considering getting a license pistol for fear someone will rip me off. I'm not even comfortable if I go visit a friend for fear that someone will take my bike.
clccbr77 09-06-2007, 01:24 AM I didn't even think of Lo Jack before. It is basically very peaceful here where I live , but lately there has been a ton of theft around here Im not sure if there is a crime ring or something targeting this area but I just wish I was up at the time they came and kicked through my garage door. I worked so hard in a hot ass foundry to earn the money for my first ever brand new bike and someone steals it with no regard for peoples property. Thanks for you support guys I really appreciate it.
Chad Clark.
R1up0n1 09-06-2007, 10:45 AM That sucks man! My older bros bike was stolen out of his garage a year ago, but the theifs threw it in a ditch down the street from his house because they couldn't get it started.
I have a scorpio alarm with 2 way paging..I'd recommend it to anyone.

Yeah, the U.S. Border Patrol is there but they don't check what is going OVER from the U.S. to Mexico, they just check what is coming back.
Actually, there's a funny story about that with me. I went over with three of my friends who all happened to be hispanic, when we came back over, a U.S. Border Patrol agent stops the car and asks questions, then asks for our I.D. I give him my Colorado State license and everyone else gives him their Texas State licenses. The guy turns to me and says, "Sir, are you a legal resident of the United States Of America?" I was so pissed! My answer to him, "You dumb Motherf'er! With a name like "Bryan Joseph Tysz", being from Colorado, you have the nerve to ask me if I'm a legal resident of the U.S.? Are you flucking stupid? God forbid you ask one of the other people in the car or these other cars that are behind me. Get the fluck out of here you $tupid Shiot!" I took my I.D. and we drove away. I haven't been over in Mexico since.
I didn't even think of Lo Jack before.
Chad Clark.
I looked into getting LoJack down here in Texas and if I wanted it, I'd have to take my bike a 8 to 10 hour trip to Dallas to get it installed. Not worth it.

How about a dealer in El Paso that steals your bike about 2+ weeks after it's serviced by them?

i wouldn't murder him. bikes are things that are not worth killing for.
in that situation, if you really know who it was, shoot a few pellets into his A/C unit until he installs a security camera. then shoot the security cameras.
i'm used to totalling bikes. therefore, i no longer lust for them.

The dealer has been being investigated by the Police for like 3 years now but since the owner knows everyone in the city that is high up, nothing is done. The guys that were stealing bikes, putting them in a U-Haul, and taking them to Mexico, never got caught though some think that it is that same dealer.

trock 09-09-2007, 03:41 AM Alex you have to be one of the coolest guys on here. You seem to be so much more grounded than most of the college people i am around everyday, which i'm sure you are. Havaing raced and everything its incredible how much knowledge you have.

I would have to agree for the most part even tho I tend to debate with him alot
trock 09-09-2007, 11:02 AM can you say drunk post. it got the point across at least.

Houston has gotten really bad. It doesn't matter where it is and how well it is locked up, they will steal it. By the time you even realize it, it is half way to Mexico already. It is not just cars and bikes. It is anything that they can get their hands on. My buddy owned an auto repair shop in Houston. They would steal his customer's vehicles locked inside the building, and inside perimeter fencing with barbed wire. It got even worse when all the hurricane victims from New Orleans moved in permanently.

Yea it really does suck.
I'm the same at my house...my garage is in the back...rear entry and I still shut my garage doors if I'm not actually in the garage or in the backyard.
I see people leaving their garage doors open when riding down the street and see all kinds of stuff for the taking and it happens from time to time...not in my neighborhood so far but I know that can change anyday.
Gas Man 10-05-2007, 08:37 AM Yeah.. or the other mistake... leave your front door open when you are in the back yard... BAD IDEA

sound like my dad-he used to park his bike in the living room. no joke, couch , tv, table, bike. totally normal lol-now he's got a house with a 8ft cement wall around the backyard, 2enclosed garages, parks his cars in front of the doors, everythings locked up inside and out

TOMMYTOM 10-06-2007, 01:55 PM I actually have an English mastiff now- Large but extremely friendly- I dont think he would even growl at anyone. I had a Rottie for 10 yrs- one of the greatest dogs I've ever had.
I'll be in LA by the 19th... No boat yet- still shopping and trying to sell my house here in Houston. The housing market is in the :flush: .

pickle.of.doom 10-08-2007, 10:43 PM Believe it or not, some people try to get thier chit stolen... Full coverage + stolen bike = easy way of selling it and buying a new one. Scumbags.
Thats a bummer about yours though man, I hope they get some leads on it. Full coverage?

Thats someone that followed you, knew what kinda bike you had or had been staking you out dude. If your garage door was closed and they took your bike like that by kicking in the door, then thats someone that knew you had a bike. :tt:
Man I just got mine, and after I got back from class lastnight it was parked on the side of the house. 12 am I started moving stuff to open the gate to the back yard, makin all kinds of racket started it up and moved it in the back yard. I dont even want to give someone the chance to steal mine. I had the mentallity of outta sight outta mind BEFORE I read your post and that changed real quick. I either gotta get an alarm or I gotta start chaining a rabbid pit bull to it.

As someone who has worked for a group of people responsible for helping people import vehicles into the United States I say this from the bottom of my hear: Next time you go into the Secretary of State or Department of Motor Vehicles and you notice the clerk is having a bad day thank them. They catch a huge percentage of the illegal registrations of vehicles which catches a significant number of stolen vehicle dealers.
Customs and Border Protection is so understaffed and under trained you are lucky to get someone who can tell the difference between a car and motorcycle. The few that actually work on theft or illegal vehicle entry are so overwhelmed it is scary.
