oggle 09-12-2007, 12:43 AM So if you lose the silly NFL pads and those lovely tight shorts, you must be watching the rugby world cup !

PlayfulGod 09-12-2007, 01:38 AM no I dont watch any sport where men pat each other on the butt.
King Bob 09-12-2007, 03:53 AM I say American football is an excuse for "straight" men to run around in tight clothes and play grabass with each other using the game as a mask for their homosexuality. never did nor will I ever like football.

I played some football back in the day....not because I was gay....I just liked hitting people.

:here: I am a huge rugby fan :dthumb:
I played for 7 years until a shoulder injury prevented me from doing so anymore. All four years of high school (two years we won the regional championships), and in college until I was injured. I mostly played scrum half, fly half, and a little bit of flanker after I started bulking up some more.
I enjoy American football and watch it all the time, however it pales in comparison to rugby in all aspects.
Rugby is by far the most gentlemanly and team-oriented sport on the planet.
GIVE BLOOD, PLAY RUGBY!!!

All rugby players are more man than you will ever be, especially after making this ignorant statement.
When a rugby player hits you full tilt without pads hard enough to rattle your brain out of your head, then you can call them gay. But you won't be conscious to do it.
I have literally knocked someone unconscious and they had to be carried off the field. I guess I must really be gay.
By the way, if you wear normal shorts they will get ripped off the first time you get tackled, because rugby players tackle with proper form. Also the shorts are used to lift up the taller guys during 'line outs' (which are like throw ins for soccer, sort of). That's why the shorts are short. Fool.
topgun 09-12-2007, 02:45 PM if you cant find the results in the sports section, try looking in the obituaries! Play rugby.
I will tell you this much, as a prop when you get over 1200 pounds forcing you into a head on collision basically with about another 2000 pounds coming back your way, you better hope ol boy behind you has a lock on the top of your shorts fom underneath or you are going to wind up with a serious spinall injury.
Rugby is a hooligans game played by gentleman and has the best team cohesivness in any sport I have ever seen or played.
the funny thing about us as americans is we have know Idea where are sports come from for istance football comes from rugby! Baseball does indeed come from cricket though it was played different also and most american historians will not recognize that fact.
I love this country and it is well known. but only in this country do we play sports and call our selves world champions when we never face another country in head to head compitition. when we do such as the world baseball classic we lost big time or even in the olympics like basketball where the best we placed a few years back was bronze.
I know this is a great country but sometimes our own egos get in the way of thingking outside our own little world.
OK off the sopabox I know, mates and it is time for the third half. who wants to start the boat races?
ceo012384 09-12-2007, 02:50 PM Hey, even a military man who agrees with me. Rugby owns all sports.
You played prop?
Yeah my coach used to say that: "Rugby is a thug's game played by gentlemen, soccer is a gentleman's game played by thugs."
 to a fellow rugger.

No I played baseball n basketball as a kid and was good at both. Played football in the hood like a normal kid too. Playing n watching the sh*t on tv is completely different
I just always prefered tinkering with cars/bike/trucks than playing ball. Notice I havent diss the 5mil a year players that cant spell their name n prolly wont know their name by the time they retire
topgun 09-12-2007, 03:40 PM My coach was a scotsman who was in the royal navy before he retired. he taught me and he taught me well. I love playing prop but since I have lost alot of weight i cant hold up in the pack to well except as a hooker
oggle 09-13-2007, 06:55 PM Well USA didnt quite win, but they weren't embarrassed either ! , Tonga had a to much skill will the ball in hand and pace out wide. USA managed to counter this with some hard runs straight up the guts, scoring twice ! Final score Tonga 25 To USA 15.
Ohh and those poor Japanese ! Two games in four days, with a nail biting last 5 mins, as they eventually went down 35 to 31. Which was excellent for a team which have reaaly progressed under the coaching of NZ great John Kirwin. Their tackling was awesome given the size of the japs compared to the size of the Fijian's. average difference of 44 pounds or 20 Kilos.
So tonights matches are,
England Vs South Africa.
England are the reining world champs, but are currently runnings like a pack of lame mules. Poor old Johnny Wilkinson is injured again ( What a shock), which is a massive out, followed by Delarlio be out also, which will mean the forwards will also go in under powered. SA are looking the goods are the tourndament so far, however S burgers suspenion will mean their is some firepower missing in the breakdowns.
New Zealand v Portugal,
somebody call the cops cause i think theirs going to be a killing !!!!!
NZ are expected to hammer the fluck out of them by upwards of 100. Richie McCaw out it will be a good chance to see Jerry "the human wrecking ball" Collins in full flight.
Australia V Wales
their was a few close games in wales tour in australia at the start of the season but. Australia should be able to romp home as the european teams seem to have forgotten to pack their back bone.
Further updates to follow.

There was a story about a dude who had another player's tooth lodged in his arm for a few weeks. He didn't know it was there and it ended up getting infected... went to the doctor and realized it was the other dude's tooth. :yikes:

Dude the Haka is amazing. How intimidating is that chit? F&*king badass.
For those of you that don't know, the Haka is a pre-game dance and chant that the New Zealand Allblacks do that basically just says "we are going to f&*king kill you, eat your babies, slice your throats, and just generally destroy you in every way possible". When you have 15 dudes with a combined weight of over two tons stomping on the ground and chanting that chit at you, you're gonna be friggin' scared.
topgun 09-14-2007, 08:25 PM here is what is said by the all blacks and what it is translated to.
Ka mate, ka mate
Ka ora, ka ora
Tenei te tangata puhuruhuru
Nana i tiki mai whakawhiti te ra
Upane, upane
Upane kaupane
Whiti te ra.
These words are translated as:
It is death, it is death
It is life, it is life
This is the hairy man
Who caused the sun to shine again for me
Up the ladder, up the ladder
Up to the top
The sun shines.

New Zealand destroyed Portugal 108-13, as expected, but hell that try for Portugal was a huge deal for them. They fought the good fight.
Rugby is so electrifying. No pads. No commercials. No timeouts. Two 40 minute non-stop halves... that's hardcore.
Here's a couple hit compilations. Try that on for size, ya football sissies.

You should look for your most local men's RFC (rugby football club) and try it out. It takes a bit to get the hang of it, but it really is a blast. I wish I could still play, but a shoulder injury ended it for me. I've seriously considered just joining up again and playing until I get re-hurt (which probably wouldn't take very long). I love playing that much.
I knocked a kid out and he had to be stretchered off once. One of my top five coolest things I've ever done. A teammate gave him a hospital pass (term we give for easily anticipated and lob-style passes, sets guys up to get railed) and I absolutely LEVELED him. One of those hits where I left the ground full tilt and flew horizontally straight into his solar plexus with my shoulder. He almost did a backflip. The entire bleachers of crowd was like "OHHHHHHHHHH CHIT" and then were cheering and going wild... then he wasn't moving and people started to get a little concerned
OneSickPsycho 09-15-2007, 02:28 PM My knees and ankle are shot, otherwise I'd totally check it out... Hurting people is sweet.
topgun 09-15-2007, 03:48 PM When I played a match against a mostly all english and aussie team and us only having all yanks who had only been playing for a few months. we got steam rolled more then once. I had guy run up me and and continued running over me as a fell backwards. when I say run up me, I mean he literally ran up my leg planted one on my chest and shoulder as i fell to the ground, funny part was when I got back up I managed to chase him down from behind and prevented him from off loading the ball as I took him out hard. as we got back up he said where the hell did you come from I left you run over back aways before the 22m line! I said well ya pissed me off so I ouldnt let you get away with it now could I! and he started laughing his ass off.
When we played our first tens tournament, which was our actuall first match play. all the teams were suprizedthat we were actaull so good. we just didnt have the speed on the wings to cover em. when they tried to go up the guts they would get slammed everytime. I had over 15 tackles in the first match alone and only about twelve in the second, didnt play the third match because I was beat by that time and had nothing left. LOVE THAT GAME and if your a true rugby player, then you are familliar with the dance of the flaming *******s! and can all remember what the third half is all about. Boat races anyone?
ceo012384 09-15-2007, 03:55 PM The best part about rugby is the sportsmanship, team attitude, and general comaraderie that is stronger than that of any other sport. A true team sport.
The after-game cookouts and such are usually awesome. The home team will host the guests with chitloads of food, beers, etc. And you'll walk up to the guy you were raking across the face with your cleats, give him a cheers, and laugh about the terrible things you did to eachother just minutes before.
Man this thread reminds me how f&*king much I miss playing rugby.
topgun 09-15-2007, 04:04 PM I know your pain bro. I cant beacuse of my work schedule. I goto practices every now and then just to kinda stay sharp somewhat. I had a friend of mine play for the Boston Irish wolfhound's?they are national champ winners a few times over, Names Dominic Lebeau. he was our saving grace alot of the times. and a hell of a rugger. he got into a fight during our match against Bahrain, and they were playing quite nasty so he turned his game up and got into a fight and punched the hooker in the face and made it look like he didnt do anything, of course this was after the hooker slapped him in the face, by the time the ref turned around he had stepped back and was pointing at the hooker as he was coming at him again and the ref red carded the hooker and tossed him out!:dthumb: funny thing was they played alot nicer after that. lol!
ceo012384 09-15-2007, 04:52 PM The boston irish wolfhounds are a great crew of guys. My highschool team practiced with them a bunch of times. My college team played them a few times. I wish I could join up with them :cursin:
topgun 09-17-2007, 03:36 PM yeah Dom kept telling me about them and how good they were. just wish I had time to play still.
oggle 09-18-2007, 12:54 AM Updates:
Final score - Wales 20 Australia 32,
those welsh boys were down and almost out after losing their capitan in the early stages down by over 20 points the made a strong come back to win the second half how ever it was to little to late.
England 0 v South Africa 36. CEO used the term Blanked which effectively means england were lucky to get 0 points. It was just like that at my school prom some who will go nameless never looked close to scoring.
Samoa 15 V Tonga 19 Well, this was an upset, tonga haven't beaten their big brothers in the last 7 years. It was i tight game with a the big boys holding nothing back.
With England , in the same pool both of these teams will be super excited as the both have a great chance of sticking it to those sunburnt pommies. I would be keeping an eye out on the betting odd for these games!
Somoa v England 22 september
Tonga V Engalnd 28 september
Ireland 14 V geoergia 10, with ireland a part of the "great eight" this was a stock ! Irelands coach obvisously wasn't watching the game praising the ireland effort saying the had improved. A dictonrary will be sent 1 to him for the defintion of improved, and 1 to me for spelling.
France steam rolled Namibia, showing some of the heart and form that appeared to have been missplace on opening night. and most importantly keeping the hopes of a top pool placing, (provided, argentia lose badly to ireland, and france win over ireland, this is more than a mathmatical possibiliity.)
Canada 16 V Fiji 29, well the cantucks came close never giving a inch, a few errors and not much possestion they did extremely well. They have improved tremoendously over the past few years.
Few exciting games on the horizon,
France v ireland 21 sept.
England v samoa 22
Canada v Japan 25,
ceo012384 09-20-2007, 11:43 AM England 0 v South Africa 36. CEO used the term Blanked which effectively means england were lucky to get 0 points. It was just like that at my school prom some who will go nameless never looked close to scoring.
