If you take the Interstate, you miss out on all the twisty roads. To find out the conditions of the Interstate and mountain roads (rain, snow, repairs, etc.), the Colorado Department of Transportation has a website on road closures and conditions: http://www.cotrip.org/ and click on road conditions.
