Anyone hear about this thing?:yikes: 1pM1j2d1RMU Excerpt from Wikipedia: The KillaCycle is an electrically-powered motorcycle purpose-built for drag racing. It was built and is managed by a small motorworks team owned and run by Bill Dube. It is the fastest electric motorcycle in the world. Technical Specifications Weight: 619 pounds Battery pack : 7.5 kWh lithium-ion pack, made of 990 A123Systems M1 cells. Motors: 2 Model L-91 DC motors, switchable between series and parallel connection Performance Figures Power: 350 horsepower (260 kW) 0-60 mph: .97 seconds[1] 1/4 mile: 8.168 seconds @ 155.78 mph The bike uses about 7 cents worth of electricity on a run down a quarter-mile drag strip[2].

Nice 0-60!:dthumb: 1/4 mile seems a little slow though... That's because electric motors have lots of torque but no top end grunt.

yeah, if you look at the top speed, it's far too low for the rate of acceleration. If it continued to accelerate at the same rate, it would top out at about 500 mph after 8 seconds. It probably hits top end in about 1.3 seconds, and just cruises on down to the finish.

Right... which is why there is an enormous amount of potential for hybrid supercars... especially turboed ones.... Imagine a car with huge torque off the line from electric motors and then right when you start to wane the electric power your turbos are spooled up and you hit full boost.

Nice 0-60!:dthumb: 1/4 mile seems a little slow though... That's the first time I've ever heard someone reference running 8's in the 1/4 as being slow... That's because electric motors have lots of torque but no top end grunt. It should be clarified that electric motors have virtually NO torque at peak RPM... Unlike gas engines that produce little power off idle and peak somewhere in their upper RPM, electric motors peak at stall... That's why the 0-60 is so insane, but the 1/4 time isn't 4 seconds... sounded cool tho b4 he wrecked. There is something very very cool about the whine of a big electric motor... Not to mention the pure business of having enough amperage between your legs to power a small town... did it short out? That would be my guess. This guy is preachy about how safe these batteries are and whatnot, but they are still lithium based which means they can and will explode if the chit hits the fan... 0 to @sshat in less than a second!!! :baha:
