bikergal 09-14-2007, 04:49 PM I am thinking of going on a cruise in March. There are 3 main Cruise Companies. Carnival, Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Lines. Has anyone ever used one of these cruise ship companies before? I am looking to set sail out of a FL port.
I am leaning towards Norewegian Cruise Lines because they have what you call "Freestyle Cruising". More layed back and you don't need to get dressed up like the other ships require for dinner and what not. They don't have set times for dinner either. The cruise with them I am looking into goes to Bahamas, Costa Maya, Belize and Roatan (Honduras)
Second in line would be Carnival. They have an awesome cruise that goes to Cozumel Mexico, Costa Maya, Belize and Grand Cayman Islands.
Royal Caribbean has some nice cruises as well but I am not feeling the company as much as the other two.
Has anyone been to any of the Islands I mentioned? Any advice or suggestions would be great!
:thx2:
PlayfulGod 09-14-2007, 08:16 PM I'd miss my bike too much to go on a cruise.
papapoi 09-14-2007, 08:35 PM could always take a pocket bike to ride on the boat LOL
bikergal 09-14-2007, 08:37 PM :jacked:
On topic guys..... don't hijack my thread :tt:
papapoi 09-14-2007, 08:38 PM It was on topic :)
VatorMan 09-14-2007, 09:56 PM After 13 years in the Canoe club(Navy) I could care less about a ship. However, Belize is very nice-Especially if you are into scuba.
Buffalo_soldier00 09-14-2007, 10:54 PM I went on a the carnival cruise to belize, costa maya, cozumel and grand caymens in July and had an amazing time. I don't know how it compares to the other cruises mentioned though...
OneSickPsycho 09-15-2007, 02:27 PM Cruise ships are the perfect place to murder someone... Toss their ass off the side at 3am... Nobody knows. :dthumb:
ceo012384 09-15-2007, 02:40 PM I would never go on one of those cruise things.
Instead of a cruise I would just choose a couple places you want to go and visit them normal-style. Cruises waste too much time on the boat and not enough time in the actual places you're visiting. They make it look very attractive by making it all-inclusive and just one simple price, but in reality you would be better off just going on your own well-planned vacation. :2cents:

Anyone else want to add any advice/input?
I put a room on hold for 24 hours with Norwegian Cruise Lines going to the Western Caribbean. I think "Freestyle Cruising" is the way to go. I am planning on paying the deposit tomorrow.

1BadCBR 09-20-2007, 06:49 PM I may be wrong but isn't carnival the one where there was a lot of sick people on board and they had to pull in to get everyone treated?
SVRider 09-20-2007, 06:50 PM I wonder...
If someone decides that the ocean would be a better place to swim than the pool on board, and they jump off... will the cruise ship stop and pick them up again, or just keep going?
Ineffable 09-20-2007, 06:53 PM lol they send out a little rescue motorboat, cost to much to actually stop the ship. I went on a 2 week carnival cruise to Europe and I have no complaints. Word of advice though is NEVER give them your email lol because I still cant get them to stop emailing me crap everyday.

NorCal916 09-21-2007, 03:17 AM i took royal Caribbean before, it was nice and had good food. but it was on the smaller side compared to others. any cruise you choose should be good just make sure the food is free and you drink a lot of alcohol :dthumb:
bikergal 09-21-2007, 07:13 PM :thx2: for the tips. I already got a free upgrade. I went from the lowest balcony level to the highest. I am the top cabin level now. Only thing higher is the main deck with the pool
I tried getting a free upgrade from an Ocean View room to a Balcony View. That was a big NO :tt:

Back _Marker 09-24-2007, 10:17 PM last year, we cruised with Holland America to the caribbean (i forget all the islands it went to).
it was mostly old people and very few kids. a friend recommended it as they said the disney cruises had way too many (unruly) kids.
next cruise will be with Holland America again (asia).
the excursions doubled the cost of the cruise.
we splurged with horseback riding, diving at all the islands, swimming with manta rays, and other boat rides.

I have been on a couple of Carnival cruises and I would highly recommend them. We had a blast, the food was awesome and they like to party. Cruises are the best bang for the buck. You get to eat like a king some of the finest foods around. You get to be pampered and do not have to worry about a thing while on the cruise.
Also, it would cost you a fortune to go to multiple places like a cruise does. I like going to several different places and doing a variety of things. People that bash cruises probably have never been on one. They are a lot of fun!!!!! Go for it.
Carnival tends to have a younger crowd, hence more partying and fun. More of the older crowds flock to Norwegian and Royal Carib. so you might want to keep that in mind.
No matter what cruise you take, I guarantee you will enjoy yourself immensely
Ineffable 09-25-2007, 12:07 AM I am thinking of chartering a catamaran and taking my GF to the west indies. Been looking at Festiva Sailing Vacations (http://festivasailingvacations.com/index.php). Friend of mine just went on a trip through them and loved it.

Rider 09-25-2007, 10:28 AM I've taken a 7 day Alaska cruise on Princess cruise line. One of the best vacations I've ever had. I would certainly recommend Princess to anyone going on a cruise.
